I read we should place them in a place where they get light. I would be easier for me to sprout them in a dark room (the only room I have left for that) but I want to make sure they'll do fine.

I'm interested to know about that too. I put a lot of fruits in my salad to make them tastier and really fun to eat but didn't know they are bad food combination. I know that fat and sugar is so I was also wondering if I should stop putting fruits in salads where I add some nuts, seeds or avocados.

Hi, I read about this famous green smoothie everywhere, but since going raw I've been getting in the habit of making myself some big salads each day and I rarely make myself a green smoothie. Are they any pros and cons of green smoothies and salads? Also, what are the best ingredients for a good smoothie? Thanks

I know this subject as probably been discussed before but I'm still a little confused. Since beginning a raw food diet, my friends and relatives try as hard as they can to prove me wrong and to show me that my diet is unhealthy. Most of them have absolutely no clue whatsoever about nutrition so their arguments are just crap. However, a friend of my studies in a sports related field and has

I've been on a raw diet for two months now and started to feel really good a couple of days ago until I took a cold shower. I seems it put me right back to detox and now I don't feel bad, but I need my long nights back and I'm not feeling wonderful like I was before the shower. Well, hope to feel great again soon!

Something amazing happened in the last few days for me. I now have been 100% raw for 2 months and usually if I don't get 10 hours or more of sleep I'm tired as hell very irritable. Well, in the last for days, I've been having 6 hours and 7 hours nights inline because of exams at school and I was fine all those days. Now, usually I recover from short nights by sleeping 12 hours inline in a s

What will likely happen if I just stick to raw food like I do right now? I have no psychological or will problem with doing that, but I want my body to be able to do the change. What about those stories I read about other people who made the change overnight without any problem? I thought going gradually was for helping us psychologically and socially.

Hi, I went from SAD to raw 100% almost 2 months ago. I have no difficulty sticking to it and I like the food. However, I often feel tired even after long nights of sleep and I'm have little energy compared to before going raw. I wonder if this is normal after almost 2 months and would like to know how long it took for you to gain noticeable energy. I eat lots of greens and fruits and some n

I was training for my first marathon when I was plagued by a knee problem because of tight hamstrings problem that is still affecting me. Hope to see improvements with the raw diet and be able to put my shoes on again for a run ;-)

After reading an article at vegan society, I decided to by a B12 supplement. The women at the natural food store told me I should take that says Methylcobalamin so I did. The bottle says that each capsule contains 1000 Mcg and I read our body only needs 3 mcg a day. I wonder if I will get too much B12 from this supplement. Any opinions on that one?

Thanks for all your answers. I really like the way people treat each other in this community. An other source that helped me get reassured is an article and Vegan society (http://www.vegansociety.com/html/food/raw_food.php) I now know that if I dose my food correctly, I should get more than enough magnesium and zinc. They only two remaining things are Vitamin D and B12. After reading the

Hi, I now have been raw for a little more than a month and a half following the 80-10-10. To tell the truth, I like this way of eating and I like the food but I don't feel any real energy difference. I don't know if I'm still in a detox period and that this would be the reason I don't feel any better than before. I'm already healthy and kind of skinny but I often feel tired and I have some

I the last couple of days, I haven't had any overt fat and I don't feel a urge to eat some. I don't seem to have any problem with grounding or variety. However, like I said, I seem to be always hungry and I eat all the time to try to fill myself. If I eat a large salad of something that fills me, I get hungry just 2 or 3 hours after. Also, I've been having moods swings in the last few days. Go

Hi, Just wanted to know if any of you were able to get the 80-10-10 book in Canada. It doesn't seem to be available on amazon.ca where I usually by my books and my local library doesn't have it either. Thanks

Hi, I asked the question not too long ago about fats. I wanted to know if having a raw diet with absolutely no overt fat would still give me enough fat for an optimal health. I got lots of answers telling me to give my body what it wants, but since I don't crave fatty foods I have to consciously add fatty food to my meals. Some people answered me that I should include so fatty foods sinc

Hi, Started a raw food diet on January 3rd and loving it so far but I'm on a budget so I can't really afford organic food yet. I've seen a lot of people preaching for the benefits of organic and I surely am interested in that and looking forward to it, but I also wanted to be reassured that I could still benefit a lot from a non organic raw diet. I'm particularly looking forward to havin

Hi, I ran my first marathon about a year ago and liked it a lot. I decided to train for a full marathon this year and at that time I was on a SAD diet. The healthy version of the diet (no junk food, lots of fruits) but still a lot of dairy products, cereals and bread. Unfortunately, I have hamstrings so tight it caused me an ITBS (problem with the knee) that forced me to stop running. It's

I like them too but it's too sad that those available here (Quebec) are picked up not riped and end up way too acidic. I actually haven't had any problems with acidic fruits up until I started a raw diet. I guess my body is just sending me clearer messages about what I'm eating. Hell, to days ago I ate some pineapple and it was so strong it burned my tongue and I got sweat on my face. An

Hi, I'm 21 too and havan't had any alcohol for 3 years now and I still go out in bars. I enjoy my bottle of water, I never get hangouts, never lose control and embarrass myself and feel way better in lots of aspects. If your personality is strong enough, it wont be a struggle not to drink. You will just be regarded as different, and this is good. It gives a reason for girls to talk to you.

I don't just cut fats on purpose. I'm just not used to eat avocados and seeds or nuts. Add that to the fact that a low fat raw diet is recommended for best results, and it results in me buying fruits and vegetables without worrying about fats. As for salad dressing, I find myself happy with only lemon juice. Well, after reading all your posts, I bought myself a bag of Flaxseeds. The brand i

Hi, I'm trying raw food since January 3rd and so far things are going well. I'm 20 years old and pretty healthy in my standards (not overweight at all, even some people think I might need more weight) I haven't heard about the raw food diet since this time but I saw what Steve Pavlina (stevepavlina.com) is doing and read about it on different sources on the Internet and was inspired to do t
