Contrary to popular belief, we don't need to bring high calcium foods into our bodies. Our bodies biologically transmutate a combination of minerals (especially silica & magnesium) into the calcium we see in our bones & teeth. High calcium foods in nature are always high in oxalic acid and/or anti-nutrients. And of course, milk is a big no-no. We hardly absorb any of the calcium we tak

I've dealt with hair loss, so I can add to this debate a bit. From my experience, hair loss results from nerve damage or irregularities. I've never seen, nor heard of a cool, calm, collected person, with solid digestion and a good stomach, who was experiencing hair loss. It just doesn't happen. Hair loss is often the result of frazzled nerves, as it was in my position. Candida needs to be

One other thing... another Kudos to 8/1/1.... Candida. I know of no faster Candida cure than to do 8/1/1. It clears up candida often in a week or two. Eating one single fruit per day, for 7 days, and candida is usually history. That's just simply incredible. No supplements, just the cost of food. Just trying to reinforce that I'm not here to bash 8/1/1! It definitely, without question,

Hi All, I didn't mean to spark any sort of huge debate, or start having posts deleted and everything. I also don't mean any disrespect to Doug Graham himself, or any of his faithful followers. I just wanted to get a few things off of my chest, and share my experience with the raw food community. I'm still a HUGE fan and advocate of raw foodism, and in fact, MOST of my diet is currently raw.

As some of you know, I am very into lifting weights and fitness. Not so much into running or biking. I prefer short, brief, intense exercises, over exercises with long duration. With that said, when in the gym lifting weights, I don't even get out of breath anymore. Even when I do heavy squats to failure. I know some VERY fit guys who are huffing and puffing after a set of squats. I attribu

Rawrrr, Peppermint Tea probably wouldn't be a good choice, since it's cooling to the system. Even in hot water, Peppermint Tea acts to cool the body, which is why it's a good reemedy for heartburn. Ginger however, warms the system and builds digestive fire.

I despise winter, and can't stand not being in the sun. I certainly get winter blues, mainly because I'd rather be outside laying on the beach than having 35 degree days. Has nothing to do with health, diet or anything. I just can't stand winter.

Yeah, pretty much. If you have sluggish digestion, you need to build your digestive fire. You can do so by exercise. Aerobic exercise, such as running really gets the blood flowing through your mid section and digestive system. A fruit based diet with greens is ideal. Cutting down on the fat is a must. Drinking all of your water hot will help as well. In fact, in Ayurveda, drinking hot wat

I agree, Francis. When your diet is pure, your urine will be odorless and pretty much tasteless. When your diet is salty, it will taste like salt. When you're using herbs, condemints, and such, it will taste bizarre. And forget it if you're eating processed foods or something; it will taste abominable.

Seems like you miss the sensation of being 'full' on cooked food. It's a mind dulling experience that some might even say is relaxing. Emotional bingers often don't know what to do with all of the energy that they have, and they try to tone it down by binging on cooked food. Also, I don't know how active you are or not, but you didn't seem to get all that many calories during your raw day.

Well said, Greenie. Agni, the digestive fire, is lacking in EVERY individual who is sick. In no instance at any time of mankind, has there ever been a situation where a very ill person had a burning digestive fire. The sicker you are, the less agni you have. The healthier you are, the more agni you have.

People get WAY too technical with their definitions of things. For example, the people who use the botanical classification for fruits and vegetables. I'm sorry, but a cucumber is a vegetable. Always has been, always will be. It's funny, some people will call a tomato a fruit, but who ever calls a Pineapple a vegetable?!? Botanically, it is!! So, botanical classifications are ridiculous. F

A fruitarian diet destroyed my health back about 4-5 years ago. I am certainly not an advocate of that lifestyle. If anyone has ever read Tom Billing's page and his story of fruitarianism, my experience pretty much mirrored his. I became so overstimulated with "energy" (which was a severe nervous system imbalance), that it was difficult to sleep, sit still, retain information, or eve

The only thing I know about David Jubb is from what I read in his books. His "Lifefood Fast" is...... I'll use the word 'unique'. It's like an oddball regimen of unique home remedies, at different times of day. Simple water or juice fasting would be just as beneficial, if not more so. Urine therapy can be highly beneficial for the liver/gallbladder, since you recycle bile through th

By looking at your diet, I believe you're suffering from digestive problems, not detox. Larabars are a detriment to your health. They're dehydrating, bad for your teeth, bad for your gums, bad for your stomach. You need to make up your mind, whether you're going to be following a low glycemic, high fat raw diet, or a lowfat raw diet. Mixing fats and sugars doesn't work. Ask anyone who

Conventional Lemons are WELL protected against pesticides with that super thick skin of theirs. No need to worry about that. If it's the Life Force of the Organic fruit you're worried about, say a prayer over the Lemons. Talk to them a bit.... they'll take on a super charge, and be even better than non-loved organics!

I find frozen foods to be completely dead and lifeless. They react inside my body as if they're non-living foods. I agree that they're not 'as bad' as cooked foods, but they're a compromise, no question. However, if it's 90 degrees outside, and you want to make a smoothie using frozen fruit to cool off, it's certainly not going to challenge your well being.
