I just had my first bottle (pretty good tasting) and it was like drinking 3 beers. I felt a little bit drunk. Anyone know why it would affect like that? I didn't like the feeling at all.

Oh, and I'm very happy to hear that there are some well-informed nutritionists out there! She sounds great. I've always understood that the carbs in fruit and vegetables are assimilated differently than the starchy carbs in pasta, bread etc, and the sugar in fruit is assimilated differently than cane sugar, but I don't know this for a fact and don't understand that process. Maybe you could ask

When I have fruit or all fruit smoothies for breakfast, I lose weight. When I don't eat breakfast at all, I don't lose any. Pretty cool, huh? I lost over 25 lbs in my first month of being raw, and the more fruit I ate (fruit alone, fruit smoothies, fruit salad) the more I lost. Fruit, not milk, does a body good

Hi funkyfresh - welcome! I share your excitement -which types of foods (if any) do I not ever have to worry about the label/package saying "raw" on it because they are naturally that way? (e.g. fruits? veggies? nuts/seeds?) All of your fresh produce is raw, of course, but for everything else, just use your senses to determine if something's been processed. Like, if a nice big w

I apologize in advance if this is one of those 'beating a dead horse' topics done to death here, but I searched and didn't find anything of substance. I've been reading up on kombucha and see that they sell it in several all-raw places near me. My question is less to do with the tea itself and more to do with the bottling process. It's always been my understanding that sealing bottles or jars inv

I followed an online recipe I found and made some raw pickles yesterday. They were really delicious! I chopped them into tiny pieces and added them to my salad at lunch and my lettuce wraps at dinnertime. It was such a nice treat! 1 cucumber (peeled or not) sliced thinly 4 tbsps braggs apple cider vinegar (or whatever brand you prefer) 2 tbsps agave nectar or truly raw honey if you eat hone

Oh wow. I just this morning realized that my middle of the night bathroom trips have stopped! This is big. For the past 3/4 years I've been waking up *at least* once (sometimes twice!) every single night to go to the bathroom. I've had terrible quality sleep because of it - feeling draggy all day long and such. So just this morning I realized that I haven't woken up in the middle of the night in

The first time I went raw, I lost nothing in 8 months...not a pound. This time is a whole different story though - I went raw on April 29, so have been raw for less than a month, and have already lost about 20-25 lbs. The big difference (at least it seems so to me...) is that the other time I was raw I filled up a lot on nuts and seeds, and this time I haven't had either nuts or seeds. I really d

Yes, I love salad soooo much. I definitely get my share of greens. My favorite salad of all is tons of organic asian or spring greens with an avocado, raw kalamata olives, and tomatoes. For dressing I just toss it all with some of the juice from the olives. I eat it almost every day, it's just too too too good. Some days I eat only greens and salad, no fruit. If I'm not in the mood for fruit I

Thanks! Mmm red pepper. I never thought to add that. I make an avocado and greens (romaine or spring or kale or spinach) soup almost every day for lunch. I add dulse and sea salt to it - it's the best thing in the world! I found the ingredients - was just curious: "1 large handful of greens (kale, spinach, chard, or any other) 1 bell pepper with seeds (or 2 tomatoes, or 1 cucumb

Talking about pineapples makes me wonder....what ever happened to the wonderful dr flora? She is the queen of championing all the good things pineapples do. I agree with making sure your pineapple is ripe. I let mine sit for at least a week, until they're golden all over. The leaves at the top should be starting to wither. Fresh pineapple is such a joy. And yes, I've gotten the burns from the

I had the same problem with my in-laws until I started bringing a few "wow them" raw dishes to our get-togethers. That changed their minds reeeeaaal fast! They're pretty understanding now, and curious. Some are even supportive. I think no matter how much you try and explain the raw lifestyle, they think you're living on apple peels and water until they see for themselves the wonderful

That's good advice...thanks! I did start out missing salad dressing too. I find that lemon, avo and tomato mashed together (as in a molested kale salad) is a super fantastico salad dressing! It's sooooo juicy. I just love it.
