Last night my wife and I gave our first raw dinner party. Our friends were a bit nervous, seeing as we have lost weight being on raw they figured that the order of the night would be very little food, or a lot in the way of celery. We made a raw lasagna (the recipe was from Raw Food Real World) and some raw ice cream (with raw carob pudding on top as "chocolate sauce". Our friends wer

Thomas: I still think it is funny -- don't stress about the number, at least you're trying the pushups. I had a personal best today -- I swam 2 miles in 50 minutes! I was very proud of myself. Is it cheating if I am not a fruitarian, but a raw foodist generally?

So when my daughter says "my body tells me I NEED a cupcake Daddy!" I should listen? Just teasing. Thanks for the link.

Hi Lilpaws, sounds like you are having a great experience with raw -- excellent news! We have been raw for about 3 months and have been figuring things out as we go along as well. I commute to work (either by bike or by subway) and do not have the space to bring a big cooler of food. I do however bring a Nalgene of juice every day -- we LOVE our juicer. Each morning I juice my greens (and toss

Nuts are only sippose dto be 2% of your diet? Well that's news to me. I eat a TON of nuts. I am sorry about your symptoms though, that has not happened to me. It sounds like you may have a mild allergy to either the nuts or the cacao.

We went there recently and while we liked the food, we were left high and dry by the desserts. It is definitely a nice low key place to go. We enjoy the food at Pure a little more, but Quintessence's prices are a lot easier to take. We were amazed by their sausage pizza, it really tasted like sausage -- which was so strange since neither my wife nor I has had sausage in probably 15 years!

Ripe, not ripe, overripe -- I LOVE my nanas. So do my kids. My wife hates them -- go figure. We used the Cuisinart Mini-prep food processor to grind the banans into baby food (no stringiness at all) It is also good for making banana ice cream (using frozen banans). Yum!

We use the diaphragm -- have been using it for 12 years -- works like a charm! We have two kids -- and that was when we MEANT to. We also have condoms, for when the moment strikes you and you're not in a place where the diaphragm is, um, handy. Quit smoking, it's the only way! You crack me up!

LOL! The fact that we are both more fit and trim has definitely helped spark up the old marriage bed!

Fortunately my wife was thrilled to begin eating raw with me. Our kids are very young -- 4 and 1 and 1/2, so they are not resistant to grand ideas, just little things (like going to bed!). They have loved the raw food, though as I said we have not put them exclusively on it. What we have done (and something you could try with your husband) is to make main dishes that are raw, and then offer co

As with all ofthe stuff on this board, do what you want and what makes you feel good. I think wines and sakes are raw (stick to organic I would suggest). Not being a drinlker myself I have no idea what the story is with other types of liquor. I don't drik just because I have made this choice to be as healthy as possible with what I eat, so why would I pour alcohol into my gullet -- but that's

Does anyone have any tips for cleaning this stuff up? My two year old got his hands on the bottle when my wife was turned around and we have it all over the kitchen (I'm talking all over) and it is slippery. We have been mopping and washing, but we still have a nice slippery floor. Ideas?

I have been a vegetarian for over a decade and I remember about 5 years ago hearing about a college friend who had "started eating raw food." This guy is a little crazy so naturally we thought he was chasing down chickens and eating them raw! Never gave it much thought. Then about 6 months ago my wife's cousin and her husband announced to us that they had transitioned to raw. They b

Not to judge others in anyway, but I think that most people on this board would warn you away from raw meat, eggs, dairy. In fact, my interpretation of the living foods lifestyle has nothing to do with meat or any animal products whatsoever. I see it as 100% vegan. That is just me though. You do what makes you feel best. Again, stay away from the raw meat though, the illnesses you could pick

Totally normal. Look at the Garden Diet (by Storm and Jinjee Taliferro). THey have a transition schedule that can help you out if you are really too grumpy. Straight to 100% from eating regular SAD is hard I would imagine. We went from vegan to raw so it wasn't too big a change (and we weren't grumpy).

Yes, this happens to me...if I haven't eaten enough. Just eat more and more regularly and you will likely be fine.

How funny, I just joined this board so that I could ask about the same problem. I am 5'10, have always weighed 160 lbs and been very thin (also, been a vegetarian for ten years). Since my wife and I went raw two months ago I have lost 10 pounds and don't seem to be bottoming out yet. I am a toothpick and worried about the fact that maybe I am actually starving myself. Sounds like you guys hav
