A hotel that caters to rawfoodies? Who knew? I love it!! I'm in. I just sent the link to my wife. It looks like a wonderfully peaceful place to spend some time rejuvenating. And she wants to get off the continent anyway. She wants to see La France. We could drive the chunnel. Perhaps you've planted a seed, coconutcream.

Go green!! And stay hydrated. And meditate or sleep on your breaks. That's a heavy schedule. I've been there and done that for too long. Stay focused.

No. You are right RawPracticalist. There are not that many feral children for a conclusive study...but that's a good thing. Yet, I don't wait for p-value to be equal to or less than 0.05 in order to draw all my conclusions in life. But I concur, given the small sample size, the results are inconclusive. The fact that I knew what he was going to tell me before he did, in my world, is a kind

I visited a friend today who talked to me about a t.v. show he'd seen about feral children. Surprise, surprise but they don't like cooked food. I'd figured that out before he told me. Once you've known the benefits of a raw food diet, cooked food pales in quality.

Thank you very much. That answers to my question. You pulled that up quickly! I would love to see a study of blood viscosity of rawfooders compared to the general population.

I bought organic chia seeds yesterday and I have no idea what I'm getting into. I've never tried them before and didn't have any idea what to do with them until you started this thread la_veronique. I only have a little more of an idea now but I'm going to press forward and see what happens. I'm amazed by your ratio of 1/2 cup of chia seeds to 4 cups of water, coconutcream. I must have eno

Sorry everyone but I am no good at copying quotes to my post. One day I'll have to read Prana's instructions and get it figured out... Anyway, I can do this... jtprindl wrote: "cholesterol doesn't cause heart disease, inflammation does". I don't claim in anyway to be an expert on heart disease or cholesterol but I'm pretty sure of this - cholesterol is the culprit in narro

Wow! There's tons of input here. Thanks CommonSenseRaw. That website told me a few things I didn't know about the possible deficiencies in a vegan diet. I don't know though even if I were to be tested and found myself to be outside of the norm, if I would worry too much. TSM, I think I feel as you do. I know how the "norms" are established. They represent a population that s

Thanks la_veronique. You have put an end to my raw portobello mushroom eating. You, and a little research, have stopped my romance with the portobello cap. It was short-lived anyway. Apparently cooking them makes them innocuous but that won't work for me.

I've been 100% raw for nearly two and a half years now. I have never actually had my blood work checked by a doctor. I'm thinking I might like to do that. Have any of you ever had this done? If so, what were the results?

O.K. I finally found some white potatoes and juiced them. It wasn't bad at all. There is lots of pulp though and I hate to toss it out. Maybe I should add some salt and dehydrate it. Hmmm. Maybe that's how they make Pringles. Maybe not.

What an awesome topic you raise! You are not alone when it comes to your dislike for insects and spiders. Most everyone shares that sentiment, however, there is in my opinion, much more to the picture than the average person ever considers when they encounter an insect or spider. To me, their lives are as important to them as mine is to me. A huge respect to you for seeing it for what it is

Thanks RawPracticalist. That was a fascinating read. I'm glad I've asked this question. I've yet to juice some potatoes but I'm eager. I'll try it alone and then with some carrot juice and then all three - carrot juice, potato juice and grape juice though that sounds a bit weird. In all honesty, it actually sounds like something soothing to the stomach. It might go well with cele

I do remember you. Prism, my father use to tell me that free advice is worth exactly what it costs - nothing. Nevertheless, I'm going to add my two cents. It's difficult to advise without knowing more about you. I wonder where you live. The cost of maintaining a raw food diet in the Northwest Territories is going to be far more costly than in California. But, assuming that you live in a

Thanks Prana. I will have a look for raw marinara sauces. Like I've said before, I eat quite a simple diet - pure natural flavor but there are times when I just want something a bit more tantalizing. Maranaras would undoubtedly satisfy. Utopian Life, here's my problem. I once took a class called World Food Crisis. One day, the chairman of the biochemistry department was the lecturer and he

Do any of you eat raw potatoes? I eat most anything raw and enjoy it but raw potatoes don't hold any appeal for me. Am I missing out? I know they're a good source of protein but there's something about them I just don't like. Btw, raw squash doesn't do anything for me either. Any thoughts?

Of course I don't know why raw food is making you sick BUT I tend to lean toward the detox theory. I have returned to a 100% raw food diet several times and I know right from the get go that I'm going to suffer and feel terrible before I feel better. The first time I went raw was the worst. It took more than two months to find the sweet spot. In fact, I wrote in my journal that I would ne

In reading the various posts here, I've got to say there is a ton of wisdom. Sometimes it's as though I'm reading the I Ching. You're right that the people who post here are all winners. Rawgosia, I enjoyed reading your articles though it's not the kind of thing I like to think about. Last year, while I was eating raw cauliflower, someone told me they all have worms in them so I backed away. Then I heard that if there are worms in them, if you soak them in a saline solution, they'll come out so I did. No worms came out. I tried this on several heads of cauliflower without

It's not an appetizing thought but apparently the presence of bugs and their particulates is part of everyone's daily regime. I had heard years ago that the FDA allows a maximum of 53 insects for every pound of grain. I couldn't find that exact fact, however, I did find a webpage that talks a bit about what the story apparently is. I would imagine that as rawfooders, we eat fewer bugs

dschare, most of us have had years of eating the wrong things and to retrain the brain takes determined focus BUT, you're right, it gets easier and easier. IMO, the reason it does is because your tastes change and living food becomes your preference. If you're like me, you have to wonder what in the world we are ALL doing. It puzzles me to think that the entire human race eats corrupted food.

YEP! PURE ART!! Great looking stuff. Beautiful enough to entice those who think they'd never be interested in anything raw...and once they taste it, the pure quality and taste should impress. My wife chose the tiramisu and of course I had to sample it. It was hard to believe it was raw but it was. The whole experience was very satisfying.
