I'm in the midst of a juice fast right now. Predominately I am using vegs though every now and again I will do a fruit combo. Personally, I don't use tomatos in my veg juices. Lots of carrots, celery and yes even a clove or two of garlic. ~raine~

I'm personally on day 6 of a juice fast. I am shooting for 30 days - I don't know if I will make it but I'm certainly enjoying the results! Variety is the spice of life!

LOL! Yes. I first began researching for myself the options from mainstream American medicine after a doctor had me on Halcion for 2 years and kept dismissing my concerns that "something's wrong" (i.e. massive memory loss, convinced I had appendicitis, not being able to sleep unless I popped an H, on and on). I finally found a doctor that gave me an oral appliance to wear at night.

Perhaps you just need an alternative to sugar. When I visit Whole Foods Market at least half the time I come away with one of their lemon sugar cookies! I absolutely swear by "Stevia Plus!". Stevia is 30x sweeter than sugar, it's origin is a natural plant in Paraguay, it is safe for diabetics because it helps regulate the blood sugar and it's used as a primary sweetner for colas in

I know someone here knows this answer -- What is that web site where you can keep track of your weight and everything you eat? If you're loosing weight and have a goal date in mind it will tell you how much you need to loose per week. And for the foods it breaks everything down into pie charts. Thanks! ~raine~

I'm from the south also -- I think we eat a lot of good foods it's just how they are prepared. My beloved and I prefer fresh, healthy foods, but we both come from backgrounds where we remember grandmothers saying at the begining of every recipie...."now first you take a dollop of bacon grease". It seemed like anything from green beans to sugar cookies somehow began that way! And it w

I'm on day 5 of my juice fast but when I'm not doing this, I try to maintain an 80% raw food diet. I do like sauteed vegetables, whole grain rice and fish...sometimes even a Corona. I don't see myself as ever being 100% raw nor is it one of my goals. ~raine~

There's lots of blame to go around... Madison Avenue for marketing the foods... Stockholders for investing in these "food" production companies... Parents willing to cave in to their kids bratty demands... People wanting quick fixes for meals... Lobbyists -- the sugar lobbyists are so damn good that Stevia is marketied as a food additive or supplement instead as a sweetner... I

I shoot for a 80% raw diet. Currently I am in the midst of a 30 day juice fast. While whole, raw foods do provide an essential part of the fiber, when doing a 3+ day fast that is not what the body is focusing on. Aside from consuming a great deal of water with squeeze of lime (my preference to lemon), I also have a couple cups of green tea with a 1/2 pack of Stevia Plus. Aside from adding

Oh thanks SO much Rosemary -- it was all I could do not to spit my celery/carrot/garlic juice all over the monitor & keyboard! Damn funny though! I am partial to raw almonds.

45. Chicken
I would really like to know if anyone else that has gone predominately raw in the past 12 months, had problems with chicken before their new dietary change. Even though I have been chicken-free for 13 months, it was on of the main things that made me throw in the towel with processed foods. Begining in 2005, about half the time I had chicken, I would awaken around 1-2am with the most horrib

I know for a fact that I cannot be 100% raw. I've never even tried it. My "theory" is that if the Earth is approximately 70% water and the human body is approximately 70% water, then my diet should be 70% water based (raw fruit/vegs). On ocassion I will have some seafood, rice, a tiny piece of meat (absolutely no chicken or pork though -- I have my reasons for that). Sometimes I

Without knowing if you have been around people suffering from colds/flu, there's still a lot of unknown variables. When you say "a lot"of wheatgrass juice - is that more than 2 ounces per day? If you aren't accustomed to drinking a lot, you might want to go for moderation right now. ~raine~

2 minutes - 2 times a day -- MINIMUM! You must brush your teeth for 2 minutes at least 2 x per day. I have one of those balls to the wall Oral-B's with the timer that pulsates and rotating heads and I absolutely swear by that thing. Since it can hold it's charge to be used 2x2 per day for up to 2 weeks, it goes with me on all trips. A few years ago when I first started doing the 2x2 metho

Seems this thread has gotten off topic but what the heck - I'll throw in my .02 To me each body is different and it's trial and error to see how my body reacts to different methods. For me, 80% raw is good. This rest is usually steamed vegs, a little rice or fish. There are times when my body feels like fasting and I just go with it. The fasts only last on average of 2-3 days and I have

I suppose I'm rather fortunate given the fact that I'm in meat eating Dallas and deal with motorcycle media related stuff all day. Now that I think about it, I'm not exactly in a lifestyle that you would expect to find a raw fan. Here's my brief overview: Many years ago an insane doctor put me on Halcion for 2 years to treat TMJ when my jaw was knocked out of alilgnment due to a car wreck.

I agree with the aloe. Invest in a decent size plant and let it have lots of light. I use fresh aloe - just snip off about 3" worth, slice it down the middle and then I angle the edges so there is nothing rough. I rub one section directly on my face and wrap the other section to use the next night and keep it in the fridge so it stays moist....just what works for me!

"fairly large" in relation to the size when one is eating a diet of processed foods. But, due to the softness of them and the fact that you rarely have to strain to pass them, the size is irrelevant.

A person that is on a typical diet with lots of processed food, will usually have BM's that are hard and compact. A person that is eating raw and healthy will typicaly have BM's that are large and very easy to pass - they are also usually lighter in color and less smell.

I use Stevia Plus! from Wisdom Natural Brands. Their site is: SweetLeaf.com I purchase the 100 pack box at Whole Foods Market or GNC and carry the packets with me everywhere. I add one pack per glass of tea (I only drink water or tea). The stevia does dissolve instantly in hot water - cold water is more challenging but it still works just fine. My best example of how well stevia works

"I had a neighbor who had adult-onset diabetes, who had an insulin pump installed in his abdomen, and he'd jack up the insulin before trips to the Cheesecake Factory, so he could stuff himself with all that delicious food." That's so sad that some people are such slaves to their taste buds.

Actually, Splenda may be worse than white sugar. A friend of mine insists upon using Splenda and one time at her house I noticed that it fizzed when being added to tea - that fizzing reminded me of pool chemicals for some reason. A few days later I stumbled upon a site called TruthAboutSplenda.com and one of the items is the breakdown of what Splenda is made from -- evidentally chlorine is

Compared to sugar, it is pricey but everything in life is a trade off. I absolutely swear by it but I've found that the Stevia Plus! white powder is sweeter than the liquid types. I buy the box of 100 packs for about $9.99 at Whole Foods in Dallas. As I am out a lot due to my work, I always carry packets with me for iced tea. I have grown it from seedlings I purchased at Redentas. On ocass
