Not sure if this will help, but hope it might. I found that if I don't vary my greens enough (i.e. eat a lot of spinach too often) that i get a little rash on my hands. It seems to go if I rotate my greens as much as poss. In V. Boutenko's book on green smoothies, she mentions the importance of rotating greens and getting plenty of variety. There is some kind of poison (I think ???) in them wh

Lemure, Many thanks for your kind comments. I use Dr. Bonner's Pure Organic Castille Soap on my hands. On my lower legs ... I don't use any soap. I read an article a few years ago about someone giving up washing themself with soap and just using water. Although initially I wondered about it, I decided to try it (and haven't looked back ... it works just fine) and I only use the Dr. Bonne

I'm wondering about the raw garlic now (after reading about Ryan's experience). I still use some raw garlic and put a clove in my blended green soups a few times a week (Hhmm?). I know that it is an antibiotic ... yet I read that onions, leeks, garlic and banana are supposed to feed the healthy gut bacteria. I had also read that if you have too much raw garlic it can affect the good gut bact

Funky Rob, I remember you saying that you did not use shampoo only water, but were trying lemon juice. So how is the lemon juice going? How much do you use? I have been using organic type shampoo, but am thinking of trying something even more natural. Do you get a build up of hair grease / oil if you only use water long term? (Your hair looked great on your photo earlier in the year, so I

Lots of people get gas, so don't allow yourself to feel embarrased. I read (not sure if it is true) that it is normal to get some every day. If you think that yours is too much - are you using food combining rules? If not, perhaps that might help. If so, are you leaving long enough between meals? (If I eat a fruit meal, I leave eg 3 - 4 hours after sweet fruits like bananas and 1.5 - 2 h

Many thanks for all of the replies and comments. Bryan, I really appreciate the info that you have given. Very useful and informative. When you mention the cup measurements (e.g. 1/4 cup avocado), are you referring to the U.S.A. standard cup measurement? Only I am in the U.K. and we don't use cup measurements here, so I am trying to decide how much a cup is (e.g. the size of a tea cup ... t

How much fat are you having approx per day? (Sorry if you have posted these amounts elsewhere). I find it hard to equate a percentage (e.g 10%) and would find it easier to understand in very rough terms of approx tablespoons, cups or per advocado etc. I am trying to get the right balance for myself and it is taking a bit of adjusting. It is reasonably easy for me to reduce fats, but then

Hi Wheatgrass Yogi, Thanks for your reply. Both my friend and myself have a build up of 'fat' etc residue on the inside of our Vita-Mix blender jars ... most likely from the nuts, seeds, oils and perhaps from the white juicy stuff that comes out of e.g. onions. We can scrape some of it off with e.g. thumbnail. (It has most probably built up, because we have not been blitzing it with a cou

I love my Vita-Mix blender and have been really enjoying using it since I got it last December. Usually I just give it a quick rinse out with water after using it and turn in upside down to drain. It is so quick and easy. I love it. However, it has started getting quite yucky inside now and needs a better clean. I have tried putting a little washing up liquid in and filling the blender

I have been wondering about the candida situation myself and so tried to cut down the fats, but have dry skin now on the back of my hands and lower legs (Hhmm). Any suggestions (other than putting moisturisers or such on the dry skin)? (Rian, how much fat are you having and do you get dry skin?).

Thanks for all of the interesting comments. Also a special thank you to Mia for the 'Let Your fingers be your physician!' info. I found that really fascinating ... so a very big thank you. Earth Angel, the stuff you learned about the nails in beauty school ... do you have any extra info re reading the condition of the nails that wasn't in Lena Sanchez's link? (I find it really fascinating).

Many thanks for all of your comments. Yes it is a very interesting. I also have a friend who is eating mainly cooked vegetarian (but she does have some salads and fruit too). She is in her early 30's and has very large ones on all her fingers (not sure about her toes) even though she also has plenty of the white flecks too (which ... yes ... are considered to be a zinc deficiency. Although

A year ago I read about moons on fingers and toe nails being a sign of mineral reserves. Since then I have been watching mine to see how they change and have noticed that they do keep changing. I only have them on my thumbs and big toes (Hhmm!) and am trying to see if I can get them on all of my nails. I have a vague memory of having them on all of my finger nails when younger ... (although I

Hello tropical and rawgosia, For me it is not a struggle - I can assure you of that - but rather a very joyful, soul-felt curiosity. I am listening to the whispers of my soul. I have no idea whether I will try a fruitarian diet or not, but as previously mentioned I felt very guided to start finding out more about the fruitarian diet. As I said at the beginning of this thread: "I'm l

Many thanks to you all for sharing your advice and thoughts. Sorry that I did not reply sooner, but as you will have discovered from one of my other posts, I have been very busy recently in connection with my brother's cancer diagnosis. David, yes I read 'Conscious Eating' by Gabriel Cousens at the beginning of this year. Also his book 'Spiritual Nutrition'. I love his books, so very intere

I sprout the chick peas only for approx 1 day until they have only just sprouted with small tails (taste better that way). You could try eating a few on their own like that to see if they taste ok for you. Although the consistency is not right (I don't care about that ... mine is more pate / paste like, but tastes great to me). I do not add water or oil, but I do put in tahini (which I make m

Sorry I meant to ask ... what things would help someone going through an operation? I think zinc helps wounds heal. Is that right? I sometimes make pumpkin seed milk (I believe pumpkin seeds are rich in zinc). Is there any reason that this would not be good for him? I have mentioned this to him and he seemed open to hearing that. Not sure if I can get him to have any though and if so it wo

Thank you all so very much for all of your loving help and support. So many wonderful and useful ideas and suggestions. Thank you. If it was me with the cancer ... I would be doing this stuff for sure ... and I would probably seriously consider a long dark green veg fast with lots of fresh air and rest / sleep as well etc etc. The difficulty is ... it is not me with the cancer diagnosis.

Just received sad news from my eldest brother. He has been diagnosed with cancer of the oesophagus. He says that he would like to fight the cancer. He is a person who is very heavily into a meat based cooked diet. He drinks wine and eats stuff with sugar in etc. (You know typical SAD type diet - but he is not overweight and was reasonably healthy until recently). I've never felt tha

I adore fruit. It is "nature's candy" ... and so much better than chocolate. I have always joked even when I was a "cooked" vegan that I am a "fruit bat" or must have been one in a former life. I always used to joke about becoming a fruitarian. This year (my first year eating high raw) I have been seriously considering giving it a try. For years even as a

Ken, Just a few thoughts about your different posts. Not sure about doing urine fasting when the urine is from a sick person. Have heard that it isn't such a good thing when you are a sick person to drink your own urine. But ok for a well person to drink their own urine. (Not sure??). At a talk Gabriel Cousens, said that ill people might be better off doing several shorter fasts (eg with

ELL-NaturAl So you don't take any B12 supplement then. Do you eat after sunset (as some raw foodists don't)? Or, do you just eat however late in the eve you feel like eating ... if hungry.
