bromelain, a group of proteases from pineapples, ive read is absorbed into the bloodstream to some extent... the Germans have been researching the anti-inflammatory effects of this enzyme for some time. other fruits like figs, papayas, and kiwis are also rich in proteases. living cells contain many types of enzymes ranging from proteases to nucleases and polymerases. the nutritive values and

also, its likely that people who dont properly chew their food will absorb less carotenoids from raw foods such as carrots. like the saying goes: drink your food and chew your drink.

The claim that carotenoids are more bioavailable when some foods (carrots) are cooked is often made by people trying to support a cooked diet. There is probably some study (likely conducted by cooked eaters) suggesting this might be true. But, does that mean that eating a cooked carrot is better for you than a raw carrot? NO! It just means that you MIGHT get more carotenoids. Then you h

This raw kitty needs a home. She's really sweet and likes to sit in people's laps. She also likes to run around and chase flies. She's black and white, probably under 1 year old, and I havent named her. Here's some pictures: (sitting on table) (sleeping) (caught in mid-yawn... funny =) (wants to play) (looking at the fishies) Here's what happened:

this kind of thing (terminator seeds) makes me want to start my own organic farm, or somehow get invloved with making unadulaterated seeds available to all. we can push back with our buying choices (certified organic foods cannot be genetically modified) but somehow it doesnt feel like enough.

rawmark, i dont need to defend MRH but i can think of a few reasons why someone would rather buy shea butter from them. for one thing that site you mentioned has a copyright of 2004, that's never a good sign when i'm shopping online. also, that site you mentioned states "Pure Shea Butter is a non-perishable product. It can be stored in it's container at room temperature indefinately.&quo

Fruitarian One, I'm curious why you choose not to eat nuts? Do you dislike how they taste or make you feel... or do you just feel that all-fruit is the healthiest for you?

you should still be concerned (not saying you aren't), even if you dont eat meat. yes, this week it's lunch meets, but maybe next week it'll be our water supply. once the general population becomes tolerant of such acts, it will only get worse and worse. and i wonder if these fda nutjobs ever considered how the phages will interact with our own intestinal bacteria that we need to survive

Yes, a balanced diet is optimal for most people, me included. I dont know who Mr Haeske is or any of the other big names tossed about on this site and elsewhere... nor do feel the need to know who they are. And I've been eating raw for about 3 years. I just know that eating raw is right. There's plenty of scientific reasons to support a raw diet, but if you just stand back and realize that

nuts and buckwheat sprouts come to mind. bananas are relatively cheap. watermelons from the asian market have been very cheap lately. raw eggs are cheap too but not very tasty. eating healthy can be expensive, i know, it sucks.

Jose, raw unhulled hempseeds are not legal yet in the US. so if you have a friend in Canada willing to send you some you could try that. otherwise, you could try hempnut.com for hulled hempseeds. im not sure how these are sourced and processed though so you might want to ask some questions before making a purchase. my worry about the hulled hempseeds, is that w/o the shell, the omega 3

raw milk, and nuts are great sources of protein and fat to help you bulk up and gain/maintain weight. i start to get grossed out when i eat too much fruit. green smoothies are great for adding balance to your diet. you can gain weight on an all raw diet, you just have to find the right foods.

for truly raw almonds, you can try wholesale-almonds.com its a family run farm. i just had an email exchange (2 days ago) with them. they assured me that their almonds are never heated for any reason. their almonds are allowed to sun dry on the tree, and then on the ground floor for a week. they told me almond harvest is in september and they never sell almonds from the previous year

Thanks for the responses. >>Why would you not?<< khale, I could think of many reasons... money, inconvenience, awkwardness, having my gums prodded at with sharp pointy utensils, etc. You make a valid point of having your plaque removed. But the last time I went to the dentist, they had me gargle this dye which was to stain the areas where plaque existed. It turned out my br

I haven't been to the dentist in about 5 years. I had a lot of cavities as a kid, painful ones. But since going raw (and generally eating much healthier) about 3 years ago, I havent felt any cavities whatsoever. Also, I havent even used any toothpaste for about 2 years - i'm just flossing and brushing with water. (I also havent caught a cold in atleast 3 years) So my mom is now mad at me

ive been getting most of my protein from raw milk, and buckwheat sprouts. im gonna try adding sesame seed sprouts and see how that goes. raw dairy is so expensive but tastes so good. i also eat raw nuts but sourcing raw organic nuts that are in season and reasonably priced is such a chore. if i could eat fresh raw pistachios all year round it would be a dream...
