Francis, For me it's definitely the fat that makes me tired. This is a very clear connection for me because for almost 3 whole months I went w/ VERY LITTLE overt fats...the only thing I can remember having are like 10-15 almonds once every 2 weeks or so....and I had energy out of this world. When I started eating avo again recently, my energy levels took a HUGE dip. It was very obvious to

I second Fresh's suggestion! Certainly was the best $30 I spent in all the time since I discovered raw.

I'm asking because I really want some tonight but didn't have any that were already frozen, so I just put some in the freezer and am really hoping some of you will pipe up and say they'll be ready to be blended into ice cream in 4-6 hrs? Thanks!

Frannie, your experience with fats mirrors mine. The more I had, the more I wanted. Even though I felt crappy in every other way. I'm sorry you're struggling with it too. I didn't work out at all last week. We were out of town, my FIL was very sick and passed away on Friday. Somehow I managed to stay raw through it, although I did have a number of avocados, purely for stress eating. I did

Happy Mother's Day, y'all! Earthangel, lately I'm hooked on coconut water. Just the water, not the meat. The ones I've been buying are sweet! I could sit there and drink 3 gallons of it. Okay maybe not that much, but I'm really lovin' it right now and am bugging DH to go to the asian store so I can get more today!

Hi Innerbeauty, I'm no guru... I've only ever managed to do this for almost 4 months straight so far, so I don't really feel qualified to answer your questions, but I will give you my opinions since you asked. 1. Right now we're doing organic when and where it's feasible but not stressing out about it too much. If something organic is on sale and it looks good I go for it. I buy orga

They're not sickly sweet like banana, but they should have been sweet enough if ripe. Kinda like an apple - sweet but slightly tart... I've never seen a good starfruit in the US. The ones I ate growing up in Malaysia were huge and yellow...

No problem, Jodi! It wouldn't have bothered me anyway. For me personally, I'm kinda lazy I guess, 'cos it just seems easier to just go there and either pick at food and not really eat or just order whatever is available at the time - because it seems like so much trouble to ask for a special order - although I've done this before and it works just great too.

I'd just go and not really eat, or see if they had some kind of salad (hard at a chinese place I know) or fruit bowl (check their dessert menu) I could pick at quietly.

I'm thankful for the 5% discount. Does that make me stupid? I have so much trouble getting discounts on anything produce wise here, that even 5% is a gift to me.

Hi guys, I just got done reading all your posts. Looks like most of us have had ups and downs this last week. Talking about addictions, wow, I got sucked in by fat addiction this last week. Not sure if it was more physiological or emotional, but I think I need to join a Fataholics anonymous group. The gory details are on my blog, but basically, as I was making my family a salad one nig

Don't feel like a failure, Amy. 'Cos you're not one! 80% raw and Fit for Life is miles away from SAD. There is no gold medal for staying 100% raw. Being a perfectionist is a pitfall for me too and I think in the case of diet it's more emotionally damaging than not. You go at your pace. 80% is fantastic. Who knows, in 6 months or a year you may find yourself naturally wishing to progress t

The same thing happened to me recently (I had watermelon, not OJ). I don't like exercising on a full stomach either, but since I'm fairly new to raw (3+ months) I'm finding that I do not yet have the capability to store enough so that I can exercise on empty. Hopefully someday I will get there. My vague guess is that 16 oz of OJ isn't enough. When I had 1/4 watermelon and then worked out -

Hi Amy, I never ask for permission in quoting someone - I just try to do it in a positive way and make sure to mention the source... I've done this a few times. Hope this helps.

Hi Amy, I tried something similar to this all last year (skipped the 100 days part) and found it very difficult to not keep slipping more and more into the realm of cooked foods. But that doesn't mean that you couldn't easily handle it. I'm not trying to discourage you - just sharing my experience. Cooked is an emotional AND physiological addiction and I found it impossible to be healthy an

Tons of fruit at breakfast (sometimes I skip this, depending on my physical activity). Tons of fruit at lunch However much fruit I want at dinner followed a HUMONGOUS salad. I rarely eat overt fats, as I go along they're not feeling good anymore. If you calculate your calories you can easily keep your fats to 10% or less if you want to. I don't think there is a rule of thumb - i

15 isn't THAT many. I've eaten twice that in a sitting before. The more you eat sweet juicy fruit the less you'll want sooo many dates, but they really helped me at times. I say go for it and don't worry about it!

Peisi you are looking great! Where is everybody else? I'm doing okay, having some trouble with my teeth (totally unrelated to diet) that I've been fasting on and off for a couple of days to try to help... Still eating mostly mono meals, lots of bananas and melon and mangos. Worked out only 2x this week because my tooth problem toward the end of the week, but hope to get back on trac

Amy, Just my opinion: I think the bible was written in the language of the day, with metaphors for the culture of then to understand easily. I think the culture was already eating cooked bread. I honestly do not think God really cares what we eat or don't eat, I think He cares more about our souls. Of course, He would like that we respect and take care of our bodies and the earth he gave
