I might be getting a new blender next month! I hope, though it'll have to be under $70! If you have a favourite brand you can recommend to me, that'd be swell! I've also been looking at the 'Amazing Bullet' at the 'As Seen On Tv' store at the mall, which is just Magic Bullet under a different packaging here in Canada I guess. So tell me what you think, blenders, ideas? I'm not really intereste

I agree with bindiguurl When I went to an eating disorder and nutrition clinic here in my city, I learned from the dieticians and nutritionists there that our body is very resiliant to whatever horrible mess we put it though. We can retrain our bodies to eat properly and after having starved myself for so many months I slowly relearned and retrained my body into thinking of food as -good- a

Here guys, here's more information. Your best way to get almonds is to go to an organic farm and buy them. Some organic markets will be exempt from pasturization if they follow certain procedures. May I just say, that this is yet another example of how the USA is becoming a totalitarian state. I pray Canada doesn't do the same, since the salmonella incidents happened in our country with

It helps that I've been watching Shazzie and other raw foodies on YouTube. All the recipes they make look and sound delicious! :O I want to try them all out! I hate waiting, but I guess I must. Thanks for the encouragement. I even started a blog today, I'm going to monitor my progress with raw/vegan food and see how far I get. Hope to have a good journey, to the point where I'm not eve

Okay everybody! Its very very soon until my grocery money is in the bank! I've started preparations for rawing up my pantries, I've gotten rid of everything from canned ministroni soups to ketchup flavoured rice cakes...O-o...Yeah...What couldn't be donated to a place I pitched, and now only have the food I'll need until money day. That should leave me with a blank slate with which to fill my cup

I have an allergy to onions which makes it soooo much fun trying to find recipes that don't have onions in them. Well silly me. I pick up a couple raw cook books and it seems half the recipes call for onion. What can I substitute? I know garlic, but I'm not sure if I have a garlic allgery or not, just always pretty much avoided it because I don't like the taste. Probably not allergic to it

Oops, forgot a couple links I was gonna add. Sorry for the double post! Has a HUUUGE list of sources of protein, put 'raw' into your browsers word search to find the specifically 'raw' sources of protein. If you're 80/10/10 then there's other sources you can use to. Sorry again for the double post!

Its very very very very hard to become protein deficient. Protein is the easiest nutrient for a human being to get. We only need approximately 40-45 g of protein a day. Here's a page that explains everything about protein for vegetarians, but it -IS- pertinent to raw foodists too. All the site has lots of great information about sources of different minerals and vitamins. Hope this helps!

Sure, I can buy fresh every day if I want, I live a couple blocks from a whole bunch of grocery stores; Food Basics, Sobeys, Zehrs (I'm in Canada). I go every week to get my bananas for my breakfast. So it won't be hard to up the times I visit. Maybe one or two of the items each on my list, and then if anything does go bad, which I expect might happen at first since I'm not used to eating lots o

I supposed this is just because I'm used to eating three big meals a day, but how much do you guys eat in one day? What do you eat? What sort of portions. I don't have the money for a book right now to guide me, but when I do, which book do you recommend most? I get my grocery money for the month in a week and the temptation to spend it is -now- lol. So I need to know what I'm going to buy,

Raw foodists should get all together and write a book called 'Listen to Fanatics' or 'All The Nuts In The Tree Are Right' or something. I feel your pain. I have to lie about vegetarianism to my Nonno and Nonna all the time to avoid lectures and arguments, then eat food that I don't want to and feel sick about it. I don't like confrontations. :/ Sigh.

I've just listened to a podcast about dental amalgams and their bad effect on the health. I did some more research and I've read that teeth can heal themselves if they are cared for with a proper high calcium/magnesium raw food diet. Is this true? Can I really help my teeth without tons of fillings? Some people on forums have said their fillings fell out and their teeth regenerated. God, this

Hi guys! Its been a long time since I've been on this board. Mainly I have to admit that I never did become raw, and that my social worker and family managed to guilt trip me out of my vegetarian lifestyle as well. But since I'm currently trying to regain weight I want to freshen up my eating, so I might want to try the raw thing again. I have an extremely high metabolism and I discovered t

Been awhile since I've been here and posted last... What about tea from water thats not boiling or hot enough to cook, but warmed enough to make it feel good to drink? IE: Water thats been standing in a bottle in the room is warmer than water in the fridge. Etc. Just my thought, because I've drank cold tea before and hot tea, and lukewarm tea, and it all tastes like tea.

Thanks everybody. Today's the day I go to the vegetable market and see what all they have. I may end up bringing a bread loaf home, until I can afford a dehydrator or whatever to make my own raw breads with. If I have to eat anything cooked it'll be bakery fresh wheat breads at most or soy milk (to get my B12 and omega vitamens) So I've made a good shopping list for veggies and fruits, and se

I haven't actually started my transition yet, I still have tons of processed foods in my house, and I'll probably still have cookable foods in my apartment once I'm done with the processed foods... Okay so I went to the vegetable market and I totally didn't buy anything. I swear I'm so bad, making every excuse why I shouldn't start shopping at the market, "can't carry it all home, gotta w

Hi everybody! I'm new here, very interested in raw food diet, just starting small by adding raw foods one at a time to my diet, getting rid of packaged junk and stuff that need a microwave or oven. I'd love to get some recipes that are easy and inexpensive. Organic I'm interested in too, I just want to be strong and healthy, I'm so sickly all the time and I eat ALL the time and I never gain weigh
