I'd also like to add that you probably don't have to worry if you are losing weight and started out overweight. Obviously, discuss those concerns with your doctor and you obviously get weighed and charted at each appointment, so they'll be aware of that too!

Newby here and I'm very anxious to rid my body of every piece of toxic crap that's been building up for the past 25 years. Now it seems that the raw food diet will help immensely, but there's a lot of info out there on fasts and colonics and supplements and such. Are those methods necessary to help rid your body of everything? I've heard it could take the rest of your life for your body to catch

I was just thinking about this stuff. I'm brand new to raw foods and was wondering how and where BC plays a part. I've never had much of a problem with BC until after I had a baby. Even then, its hard to tell what's what when you're eating a SAD diet. Is your headache caused by your BC or your crappy diet? Anyway, BC actually seemed to do me some good, cleared up my skin, etc. Then came the bab

But the pictures of super-low cut tops with breasts hanging out all sexily is okay, right? Or strutting around in a bra and underwear set on TV with your stuff hanging out is okay too. Oh, but breastfeeding, how taboo! Sometimes you have to shake your head at what is okay and not politically correct these days. We are so messed up!

Thanks Seabucktho. Generalizations DO hurt. I was only able to nurse for about 6-8 weeks and it sucks (no pun intended) to hear moms "diss" the moms that don't nurse. I think the best thing to do is provide as much information, advice, tips, education, and most importantly, SUPPORT and let mothers make that personal decision. We tend to have a nuturing instinct, so we will most always m

Thanks everyone! I really appreciate all of this! I guess I'll stop trying too hard on making myself like veggies. The way I did it when I ate the SAD diet, was every once in a while I'd get a craving for a green salad, which was bizarre for me. I'll sneak in my veggies with a green superfood supplement and juice once I get my juicer. And smoothies. For now my mantra shall be, "Fruit Sal

Too funny, my hubbie and I were just discussing this last night. I would simply want a HEALTHIER fast food restaurant or a fast casual with drive thru, with a simple menu divided into sections: Raw, Vegetarian, Vegan, and American - the American portion would consist of cooked foods, but healthier versions of the stuff we love, which would bring more people to the restaurant and help with those

Congrats! Just remember that whatever you eat, the baby eats, especially if/when you are nursing! I think its easy to forget that when you are nursing! So be wary of some foods that might upset their digestive system. You'll see this on things you read, I'm sure. Now, I'm new to raw, so I haven't dappled into what a raw diet for a baby might consist of, but you'll want to research that too

You could try freezing a smoothie the night before (eaten with 24 hours is still better than nothing!) and then it can thaw out in the morning in his lunch pack. You might need to experiment on the timing of this, but a smoothie can pack in a ton of stuff, keep you full awhile, and break up the monotony of the typical lunch. Plus, those would be easy for him to eat with those new front teeth! I j

Its funny, I know what to do with getting my 3-yr-old son to start eating his veggies, but I'm struggling myself! This may help other people with kids too: The dips are always a good idea with kids. In fact, my son is obsessed with ketchup, so that works for now until we transition to better raw options. I shredded some carrots with a peeler because he LOVES shredded cheese. I figured the

I've been doing some research on drinking water to see what I should be drinking and the best recommendation I've found so far is to use a faucet Brita/Pur type carbon filter which gets some things out. Then put that water through a distiller which gets the rest of the stuff out. (The carbon gets a few bugs out that the distiller can't alone.) THEN, you can "remineralize" the water by a

Hi there! My family is new to Raw Foods and I'm very excited. The problem is I really don't care for many vegetables. I can eat fruit ALL day long, but veggies are very hard for me. But I AM determined to make this new lifestyle work and I want this to be as balanced as possible, so avoiding veggies isn't very wise I know. We don't have a juicer yet, so I can't throw veggies into my juice at

Using a blender as a juicer might work okay for fruits (again, it would be more of a smoothie, but you could water it down i suppose), but I don't think veggies would juice well. My husband tried juicing carrots in the blender the other day. (We don't have a juicer yet!) Needless to say, it just finely chopped them, as I thought it would.

I'm also looking at buying a new juicer and I've heard awesome things about the Champion Juicer - especially because it does veggies nicely and you can change out a blade easily to make smoothies and nut butters, etc. Now obviously these cost a pretty penny, and I've had some luck on my local craigslist site for some at a really good price. Check out the craigslist in your area for a juicer a
