I did say that there are some exceptions. I would never even attempt to say that "one size fits all" when it comes to raw foods. I know that I have tried all fruit and felt like crap. Did't feellike I was detoxing, just didn't feel good. May work for some but not me. Conversely, I have tried pretty much all greens with the same sense of not feeling that great. A mix works for me. To put aside all moral/ethical grounds and look to what we may have naturally eaten ... probably wouldn't be vegan. There would probably have been some bugs, worms, etc. included. Even if said organisms were accidently eaten along with the vegetation. There is the interesting fact that most creatures, even one's that are normally more vegetarian than omnivorous usually don't turn down eggs if the

I work with the hospital dietician on a regular basis. It is a great place to spread the word but it will do no good on most people there. I speak mainlyof the staff. Many of whom smoke, drink alcohol, and eat the worst possible food. My wife is in the process of changing her primary care physician because she, the PCP, is a very unhealthy woman and is always trying to get my healthy wife to eat

Helped me get through nursing school. Also made it easier to saty raw while working on the medi-surg floor. If it works for you keep using it. I don't think it replaces fresh fruit and veg but can be used as addition to normal consumption.

Lettuce is my main ally. I only occasionally eat kale any more. Sometimes I feel like I should because I know it is so nutrient dense. I prefer it juiced when I do consume it. It is harder for me to digest. I don't enjoy broccoli unless it is lightly steamed so I don't eat it ... asparagus too.

Long story short. I turned to a friend and said that we all should eat like gorillas. This was while I still ate meat and fast food. I had been having a lot of GI distress. I made transitions to vegetarian, then vegan, then vegan with lots of raw salads but I had not gone all the way to raw. My boss at work was having a lot of joint issues. She was also following the Atkin's Diet. I thought s

I speak only for myself. It is human nature, nay it is nature, to learn by observation. I think that if the people that came before us had not inquired from those before them, or around them, about what worked we be pretty screwed. We, other animals included, would not have existed as long as we have without the passed down experiences of those before us. We would not know what fruit or vegetable

This year has been far better in regards to watermelon than last year. Come to think of it, I think the year before was really bad too. I have been quite pleased so far. I have been eating seedless conventional until the crop of the local organic farm are ready for harvesting. It's been a little more difficult to get over there lately but I plan on going in the morning. They have been having kill

Thanks for all your warmth. It's a trip to be a Dad. I have decided to take advantage of my PTO from work and I will be staying home for three weeks to bond and assist my wife. I get to enjoy hours of having my son sleep on my chest. I still mist up when I look at him ... which is all the time. He helps my stand by my convictions of living healthier raw lifestyle and more environmentally responsi

It was kind of an emergent thing. We went in for a check-up since she was past due and they admitted us. If I can get food ahead of time I do. I usually pack quite a bit of stuff even when running errands ... tends to keep me on track. We were there three days, kind of gets tough after a while. I did resort to buying overly priced bananas while there.

I am so happy that m'boy has arrived. He was 6 lbs 8 ozs, 19.25 inches long. It is very hard to eat raw in a hospital. They jack the prices on everything and they close the kitchen periodically. I had my folks bring me a half a watermelon and a bunch of fruit. They also brought me salad a couple of times but it was difficult. The hospital wouldn't give guest trays either. They also couldn't g

When my partner and I backpacked Europe for our honeymoon we made a few pounds of raw trail mix. We supplamented fruits and salads whenever possible. We do the same for any kind of trip. Usually fruit for the first few days that was brought. The softer ones first then to the more firm better traveled. bananas. tomatoes, pears, berries, to oranges and apples. I would probably do the same for campi

I have read that spirulina and chlorella detox the heavy metals from the body. I have thought about consuming them. My mothermade a lot of funky tuna casserole when I was a kid. No telling what kind of nonsense I have unwittingly consumed over the years.

Field Guide to Edible Wild Plants Bradford Angier Stackpole Books Copyright 1974 This is an excellent book. It has illustrations to assist in identification. It has prep tips. Even in temperate climates it is possible to survive the winter if you have some time to prepare. The book is not a survival guide per se but it kind of has a bit of that in it. I almost took a course called wild ed

I wouldn't eat coconut oil but I eat the whole coconut. I actually don't eat the mature coconuts at all and stick to the young ones. usually only one a day or every other day. I'll be getting my check-up soon. I wonder what the results will be.

I think fruit and breast milk for the first year or so. I am still checking some stuff out. I eat blended green "soups". I would consider this as a trial food but I would want to wait until his digestion matured some. As an aside, I have downloaded a bunch of rockabye baby music that cracks me up. I have The Ramones as lullabyes. It's funny that a two minute song becomes something li

If I am not mistaken thimerosal (mercury) is only in flu vaccinations anymore. They do have things like intense loads of aluminium, loads so great that they don't give them to adults. Also they have nasty things like formaldehide.

I was going to try and get my cousin to ship me almonds but it's so expensive to mail anything from Europe. It would be a dream to live in Sicily. My partner said that she would go. I am going to try and buy a place there as soon as I can work up the currency. I figure we could at least have summers there. I joke with her about having a raw retreat in the countryside. We could have yoga and ra
