Wheatgrass Yogi, Someone complained about plastic scraping off the Omega 8005 at: "; "The rotating auger grinds against the juicing insert actually scraping off trace amounts of the plastic!!! I tried 3 machines of the same model all displaying the same problem. The Co. Sent me a replacement one afterwards, but the same issue persisted. The auger shouldn't make contact with t

I've narrowed down my selection to either: 1. Omega 8003/8005/8006 (Single Auger Dual Stage) 2. GreenStar GS3000 (Twin Gear) At first glance, the Omega 8003/8005/8006 seems like the right choice. It offers double the warranty at half of the price of the GreenStar. Not to mention half of the cleaning time and single auger is less pulpy, better for fruits. But then, on a closer look..

Tamukha, That's right.... Software: cacao butter, cacao powder, agave syrup, vanilla beans Hardware: blender, saucepan, spatula You kinda got me interested... I have a 3hp blender. It can probably do the "conch" job. Raw cacao powder is pretty $$$ at the local health food stores here. $20 for 10oz. I'm thinking of getting some organic raw carob powder and coconut bu

Tamukha, Yes, according to some expert chocolate makers, chocolate can never be raw because of conching. Gnosis only offers the software, not the hardware? Did I missed something obvious here?

Hi Tamukha, I agree with you. The flavors of raw chocolate are definitely more complex. I tried the GoRaw by Freeland foods. It contains only raw organic cacao and raw organic agave nectar. As for smoothness, I assume you had a chocolate bar instead of chocolate nibs. In that case, are you sure there's no conching. I thought conching is a neccessary part in the making of chocolate bar.

That is a very good point! I probably consumed a few of them and get my B12 by accident as well. LOL!

Hi Tamuka, I read the recent thread on "Put down the raw chocolate and stop eating 30 bananas a day. Read This.". People just trash chocolate in general, raw or not raw. I suppose I just want to clarify what makes a food RAW? There're a number of health food authorities emphasizing on the benefits of RAW chocolate, the key is RAW according to them. I don't know what is RAW anymor

Is there such a thing as raw chocolate? I remember watching an episode on the making of chocolate.... The cocoa beans are white and slimy garlicy looking pods. They neither taste nor resemble chocolate at all. Raw or not raw, chocolate is a highly "processed" product. It kinda make you think twice what is the definition of RAW?

Can produces still called themselves "Organic" if they're waxed? I notice my "Organic" tomato is still waxy, so is some of the apples.

Yeah, I also wash leaf by leaf. Some greens tend to be more slimy or waxy than others; they tend to build up near the roots. I also notice it's very common to find clusters of bugs on kales.

How much salt? Table Salt is dirt cheap, but it's got iodine, and I think you have to use a LOT in order to be effective. Vinegar is probably still more feasible solution.

There's a lot of mineral build-ups in the pitch. I tried soaking it in hot water with vinegar overnight. It didn't do much. I don't want to scorch the plastic with a 3M pad. Has anyone tried the mineral wash? Is it very harsh and abrasive? -thx

I used to soak my greens (esp. herbs) in white distilled vinegar for a few mins before rinsing them off with distilled water. Then, I read that white distilled vinegar is derived from yeast. I'm allergic to yeast. So, now I just flash rinse them with medium hot tap water followed by cold/room temperature distilled water. Just wonder what you guys do to clean your greens before consumption?

Hi Tamukha, I've also read that just leaving beet juice in open air would neutralize the oxalic acid. Norman Walker thinks otherwise, cooking oxalic acid is the cause of many disease. I will definitely add kiwi, apple, lime with my greens now. Are you saying that blood thinner not good for anemia? I take the oil pills on my own. My doctor didn't recommend them. My cholesterol level wa

Hi Tamukha, I'm totally confused. I read that beet and spinach are very high in oxalic acid. Yet, they're known for treating anemia. I also read from Norman Walker's Juice book that *cooked* oxalic acids is the problem, raw is fine. As far as the blood report goes, nothing really jumps out other than the super low iron and ferratin compared to a month ago before I started the beet smoot

I just got my blood test back. I'm a lot more anemic than I was a month ago. My biggest change in diet for the past 3 weeks is blending beet root, beet green, cilantro, parsley, watercress, okra, and swiss chard with some fruits (for sweetness) pretty much everyday. Honestly, I don't like beet juice. Eating beet salad with olive oil is more enjoyable. Blending beet root with some other gre

I get bloated when I eat salad; but not smoothie. Raw is actually pretty hard to digest. You need to blend/pulverize/pre-digest the food. I use the Blendtec 3HP Blender, it liquidfies everything (even super hardy seeds). I get constipated when I consume too much seeds, esp. the oily type such as cashew, brazil nuts. Almond, sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds seem to be okay. Some fibers such p

Hi Sapphire, That's great. I'm so getting this book. I did a search on the book at Amazon. Yes, the condition is called hypochlorhydria. Apparently, a lot of ppl including the author thought red stool and urine are normal as a result of consuming beet. I have tried a couple of Digestive Enzymes (such as Digest Me and Digest All) with HCL acid, but of no help. Do you know any other br

I started blending one medium size beet (/w its greens) daily (yields one cup) for about 2/3 weeks now. I was told that it's good for anemia and constipation. However, my urine turns red after eating beet. I'm worry that it's a sign of incompatibility. Is it possible to consume too much beet? I don't want to make the same mistake with beet as I did with carrot... I used to juice carrot
