We don't have an L.Ron Hubbard, Jim Jones, Sun Myung Moon or any other charimatic "leader" that cults are usually associated with. The recent use of that word "cult" is a tad sloppy if you ask me. We are a "community" with diverse ideas and common principles. Part of those principles are that we don't eat animal products and we minimize cooked foods that we eat.

I recently received my Omega Big Mouth centrifugal pulp ejection juicer from Discountjuicers. And I'm very pleased. This is my second juicer, my first being the Green Power Kempo 1304 Twin Gear from Kitchen's Best. The total price including shipping for the Big Mouth was $209, quite a bit more expensive than comparable other centrifugal pulp ejection types like the L'Equip 215XL which retail

I just tried a "Chia Seed - Coconut Water" Fresca that was delicious! Normally, in Mexico, it's common to mix 1 part chia seed to 9 parts water and let the chia seed absorb the water and form a gel like substance and then add lemon juice, very refreshing, esp on a hot day. Anyway, I have just tried my first set of young thai coconuts and have been saving the coconut water in my re

Salba seeds appear to be a waste of money. Regular chia seeds are just as nutritious. Dr. Coates claims that Salba is just white chia, nothing special.

Tamukha Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Why are muscat grapes a superfood? Aren't all > food foods super? Muscadine grapes have higher levels of resveratrol, an anti-aging phytochemical. And that's fine. But even though they are common throughout the southern United States, where do you get them? Moreover, what is the value added? Most raw foo

part of the answer depends on how sensitive you are to gluten. If you are mildly sensitive, you might be able to eat reduced gluten grains such as kamut. If you truly need gluten free alternatives, you can substitute gluten free grain alternatives such as buckwheat, quinoa or amaranth. What you will find is that you need to add a second ingredient as a "binder" that will replace th

I think there are advantages to both Vitamix and Blendtec. As I see it, the advantages of the Vitamix over Blendtec are: * quieter * better warranty (7 year vs. 3 year) * variable speed control (for those who prefer) * including a tamper * more secure lid The advantages of a Blendtec over Vitamix include * more powerful (3 HP vs. 2) * easier to clean (esp 3 quart carafe) *

I use both my Saladacco and Spirooli dependong the thickness of the noodle. It's easy to make a mess if the stock isn't relatively straight and even on the ends. See John's take . They have a new Japanese sprial slicer, kinda pricey at $85. But.... Paul

I've been experimenting with dehydrated breads and have finally found one that works well, for me anyway. Ingredients 4 cups of sprouted kamut 1 cup of golden flax seed meal 1/2 cup golden raisins 1 cup germinated (not sprouted) quinoa 2 Tbsp agave nector (light color) Add all ingredients to a food processor with an S blade process for about 1 minute. Thickness should be viscou

I've never been opposed to eating much fruit. I've just favored lower sugar fruits such as melon, citrus and berries. Not so high on eating large quantities of high sugar fruits such as bananas, mangoes, grapes, etc. My question had more to do with the balance between sprouted grains vs. fruits and veggies than the balance between fruits and veggies. fwiw.

Tamuka & CB, Thanks. Am thinking of doing a personal experiment with and without grains (eating just fruits and vegetables and small amounts of seeds) and thought it might be nice to do a third experiment with just pseudograins. Try the ph test strips and see if I get a difference. Thanks. Paul

I know that grains are acidic by nature. I'm wondering if some of the pseudo-grains (not true grass seeds) like millet, quinoa, buckwheat and amaranth are less acidic than other grains? I know the foregoing are lower in gluten. I'm just wondering if I can stay alkaline in part by cutting back on all grains and switching more to fruits and vegetables and also shift from more-acidic to less-ac

Tamukha, Thanks. Their per pound price is about 25 percent higher than the vendor I use on Amazon. But my vendor has about 1/3 of the seeds that don't germinate, just sit as seeds no matter what I do (have gone through 2 or 3 batches). Do you think just looking at it you are getting more than a 70 or 80 percent germination rate? If so, your vender looks good! Thanks for the tip. P
