Wheat germ, lima beans, legumes, nuts, these are all good sources of the 20mg of zinc normally needed daily. Colds, flu, sore throats? You may want to supplement with a zinc lozenge or two (stay below 150 mg per day,) but the lozenges appear to put such a concentration of zinc in the throat that not much else can thrive there. Of course, for fever, strep, etc., consult your health practitioner

An un-mentioned essential amino acid is L-Tryptophan which is used by the brain in the production of serotonin and has a role in minimizing anxiety, depression, insomnia, and stress, while stimulating the release of growth hormone to burn body fat. It is needed for the body's production of niacin (B-3). Given enough B-6, vitamin C, follate, and magnesium the body can cope with its needs for L-Tr

The ICB-7 is not normally needed as a home blender (it's a commercial model with a shorter warranty and more expensive than what you could get at a Costco or a Sam's Club from a demonstrator---) and best of all, only Sam's or Costco can give you the added four years which give the Blendtec Total Blender a full 7-years of warranty. The jars are warranted for three years now, and the price at a Sa

I will add occasionally to my grandfather's story: "At age 15 he told his father that he wanted to visit the royal family in England (in 1848). With his father's permission he packed for what amounted to "a Marco Polo in reverse" of land traveland made it as far as Persia, where he was received well as the royal guest he was. On his return to Laos, his father told his older brot

bryan, who started this topic, can be recognized at like him, I can refer you to $337.50 for the same purchase. Just highlight/copy/paste this link to him and you can see where he is coming from. Lots of us "sellers" here with other genuine "Law of Continuous Improvement" interests, too. Manolie

New Omega 8003 Nutrition Center has 10-year warranty and is their easier to clean and assemble model. Priced low at $213 plus shipping via FedEx. See Classifieds for the DVD and tapes. I'm also putting in pricing for one each: new Blendtec Total Blender, VitaMix 4500. and two Omega 8300 Juicers (the one with easier assembly and cleaning.) I tried the L'Equip Juicer and have one I used only twice, but will have to post that later, as I can't recall what I paid for it to base the used price on. Use a personal message to my email for any o

The question was asked about my grandfather's diet: lots of fruits and vegetables, no four-legged meats; he did eat two-legged, such as chickens, ducks, game birds, plus fish. Manolie

The EZ Blender, if the cycles are honest, is not a bad buy, but it is the low-end of the Blendtec commercial blenders. Remember the Chinese saying: "Expensive isn't expensive. Cheap isn't cheap." I. e: you usually get what you pay for. Doing raw foods takes the power and jar design the Blendtec has. See my earlier notes on Blendtec's HP3A which I love. $337.50 with a 3-Year warranty

In most cases, which are not candida, getting enough L-Lysine amino acid will eliminate the problem, and taking it occasionally can keep it from resurfacing. The supplemental L-Lysine is usually 500 mg. 1 to 3 times a day at a cost of $4.50 for 100 tablets. That's little enough to eliminate the pain and discomfort. Manolie

As taught by Manolie N. Jasper, Master What is being taught? Many American have an idea that Yoga and Meditation are escapes from reality, almost like self-hypnotism or going into a trance. In reality, Yoga is a gateway to balance for the physical body and (when combined with meditation) peace for the mind. Balance for the physical body depends in part on freeing the body from toxins in the j

It sounds as if the problem you encountered could be summed up in one sentence from your last post: "No cap for the hole." Tell your friend to ask Blendtec to send her/him one. They all come with one and her blender's missing cap is no big deal to them. What happened to VitaMix' Wet Jar and Dry Jar recommendation? Rather expensive jars as I recall. Both companies are great. Sorry

This appears to be a source list for raw foods: I'm sorry it didn't come through as a simply "clickable" link. I have put some sources for raw foods, vegan recipes on the recipes link. I will try to include some similar information in my own, somewhat different cookbook when it is finished, but don't hold your breath, as it has been "in the works" for some time now

By the way: I recently added two other K-Tec/Blendtec (American-made) appliances to my kitchen. The "Kitchen Mill" allows me to make freshly milled flours from such things as popcorn (for the best corn meal/flour I've known), hard, white winter wheat, and beans. I haven't tried milling the oyster shells its manual says I can mill! The only proviso is to not mill foods with 15%+ mois

Dear Friends: I would like to share two quotations from two very different men with very different backgrounds. I believe these men had insights worthy of inclusion in our "Law of Continuous Improvement": "Nobody grows old by merely living a number of years. People grow old by deserting their ideals. You are as young as your faith, as old as your doubt; as young as your self-c

Dear Wheatgrass Yogi, I teach a different form of yoga which I have practiced since age six. This month I turned 73. It was taught to me by my grandfather when he was 110 (though a French history of Laos would have had his age as 97 at the time---our famly knows better.) This form, which I labeled "Walking Meditation," is all done standing. Cleansing toxins from different parts of

Dear Gilmore Girl, Wow! What were you making when you had that experience? Was the cap in the hole (leaving a BB-sized air hole through which your "food comes flying out" or didn't the lid you had have the needed cap for that quarter-sized hole? I find that when I am making soups I simply remove the cap and place a piece of paper towel draped over (not stuffed in) that hole

Dear loeve, et als: The Blendtec jar's patented design obviates any need for a tamper (though one unscrupulous dealer claimed it needed one and was charging $12.95 for a piece of 'untreated wood' that presumably fit through the air expansion/minor additions hole in the gripper lid!!) Cut the carrots into three inch pieces add a 1/2 cup of water (or as desired) and watch those carrots and kale b
