I don't eat anything cooked because it has been my experience in the past that ANY amount of cooked food tends to lead me back to a standard American diet and I don't want that. It's a slippery slope. In my life, I treat cooked food as an addiction because, in my observation, it has the earmarks of exactly that so I just don't allow myself anything cooked. When I watch the eating habits of th

Thanks Prana for pointing me in the direction of Au Lac. My wife and I enjoyed lunch there today. I'm pretty much a simple kind of "wash it and eat it" sort of soul so this was a real treat! Words like exquisite, delectable and haute cuisine came to mind. The quality was second to none and the presentation was delightfully inviting. Our server was a little absent-minded (she brou

Sometimes people check back in with their old ways to see if they really are right about their newness. You did and discovered there is no doubt about it - living food is better. It's a learning curve. It's great to know you've learned from your mistake. Failure is an important part of success. As Bob Marley sang, "you got to pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start all over agai

Thanks Prana and la_Veronique. I found Rawvolution in Santa Monica this morning. Excellent. And I had an almond milk and durian drink that was too good to believe! Good food and great energy! Tonight, we're in Pismo Beach listening to the sound of the surf. I was planning to head up to San Fran but my wife is wanting to head east to Giant Sequoia. Oh California!

I'm in southern California until next Sunday. Are there any raw food restaurants to be recommended between LA and San Fran?

Thanks. I like it too. I'm going to share it with my wife - she's not raw...she tries but if the truth be told, she has a cooked-food addiction.

I think your BF might have a bit of insight. IMO, the flavours of certain foods definitely produce orgasmic qualities of pleasure! Raw food and sex - definitely analogous.

Thanks Utopian Life, jtprindl and La_veronique. I realize this thread isn't about the virtues, or lack thereof, of olive oil so I'll just say thanks but your responses answer my question. I hadn't realized that there is a limited array of nutrients in olive oil though, as jtprindl points out, it isn't completely devoid of valuable nutrition but it is a fairly narrow band. Good to know.

I've noticed in several comments that some rawfooders are not in favour of oil, apparently not even cold press olive oil. Some many years ago when I was in Vancouver at

Thanks you. I was able to look at some of the videos in Tamil. My wife is Sri Lankan. She was born in Kandy though I think she probably primarily understands Sinhalese even though her father was Tamil. I think she was educated in Sinhalese. She spent the last years of her education though in Pakistan and primarily speaks Urdu. I also have a friend with whom I work who is Tamil from southe

There's lots of good advice from others here so I won't say too much but I'll throw my two cents in anyway and I'll keep it short. 1 - make it fun. Explore. Experiment. Broaden your scope. Look for new experiences with foods you've never eaten before. 2 - I really doubt that 1 month is ample time to learn much at all. Twice, I have been raw, fallen off and gotten back on. These weren't

Ela2013, I can completely relate to your comments about restaurants and how little they actually provide. It is such a total waste of money. On my birthday, my wife wanted to take me out for dinner. Beforehand, she went to a restaurant and told them exactly what she wanted explaining that no one ever provides adequate servings and if they can't do it, let her know now. Bless their hearts, the

I think I haven't explained this very well. Here's what the big deal is! This is a formal dinner event complete with eight courses, each being served to the guests at their assigned tables. It's not a pick and choose situation. Therein lies the problem. It's not just about walking around at a Meet and Greet. Those are easy even if there isn't raw food. I just don't eat, no big deal. Ramanan, I do this twice a day - when I wake up and when I go to bed and other times too if I think I need to, but then, it is mostly because I have lots of leaves stuck to my teeth and I look like I'm growing Palm trees in my mouth. Raw food doesn't really leave my mouth feeling yukky but it just looks over-populated with green stuff.

Mangoes and pineapple are two cases in point but you get what you pay for and the flavour of fresh far surpasses frozen. I originally asked the question because I resorted to buying frozen fruit throughout the winter but I know it is common practice in home

Ela2013, I wish you would add more. Your thirty are very good. I especially like 1, 5, 11, 13, 15, 18, 20, 27, 28, 29 and 30...and all the others too! I like shopping for exotic fruits that no one, even the cashier, knows what they are...even I don't always know. When hiking, I can eat grasses, alfalfa, etc. right out in a field and I don't have to wait to get home for food. I love wa

Ela2013, I am like you; I would do without food before I would compromise on my raw vegan lifestyle. The reason is that every time I have ever done so in the past, it was the beginning of my undoing and the ultimate price was too great. I don't need food to enjoy the company of others and if it means not eating, that's fine too. My wife, who is not raw though she is a vegetarian, always worri
