Hello. I have usually a handful of ear infections a year due to a condition (preferrated eardrums at birth that never closed/healed even after 3 surgeries) I have in the past taken antibiotics when symptoms started occurring. I don't really know why the infections happen so frequently other than maybe some water gets trapped after a shower or since the eardrum is not closed it is more suscept

I want to buy (my first!) all raw "cook"book... however I am weary about how most of the raw cookbooks I have seen are usually heavy on nuts and other fats for the recipes. Some can also be pretty complex. I like simple spreads, dips, soups, tosses, and mixes to have instead of plain salads or things like that. I want to be eating very low fat, and want recipes I can use daily that co

Hello... I need to find some GOOD information fact sheets that are basic and explanatory about WHY to switch to natural/organic cleaning and household supplies. The chemicals my parents use each week really bother me. Every time I go home to visit I smell bleach and other strong cleaners that they use on surfaces- plus in the laundry. (And my cat lives with them and she has really small lungs

I know I keep repeating myself but.... still confused, and still having the same problem with skin. My question is: If flax oil is good for the skin (for smoothing, etc.) and evening primrose oil is good for the skin (for hormone control), but BOTH are oils=fat, which are bad for the liver-- and the liver and skin are correlated, then how can they be good for the skin and bad for the liver at

What has really helped me is veggie dips. I LOVE hummus, and olive dip, or a nut butter dip. All of which can be made raw. You can also make raw tahini, tabouli, guacamole...etc. I dip cucumber, carrot, broccoli, tomato, zucchini, celery... and the dip makes all the difference!! It makes the veges much more pleasant to eat. Instead of making a meal out of a salad just dip various veges one by o

Any essential oils experts-- Are the pure essential oils that I see in the health food store as "Aromatherapy" oils, the same ones that I can use on my skin??? I am looking for sage oil to rub on scars (on the face) because I hear it is helpful for healing scars. However, the only oils I have seen in stores are for aromatherapy and usually say something like "irritates the s

Hello everyone. I am sad that, since switching to an all natural shampoo and conditioner (I usually use Aubrey's and have tried a couple others) ...my hair is just not as pretty =(. I notice it being dry, and limp. And NOT shiny at all. I know that this is probably because there are no deposits left behind which cause the "shiny fullness" that conventional hair products provide.

I was going to post about THE PILL and decided to reply to yours. I have an experience to share. I had previously been on the pill most of the past 7 years, on and off a little but mostly on it. I went off the pill about 4 months ago. SO MANY CHANGES. (unfortunately bad ones) I got acne all over- worse than ever before and it still has not cleared =( I LOST MY BOOBS !!!! I WE

For all the health conscious women like myself. However minuscule it may seem, this is just something that has often come to mind.. =) I wonder about wearing bras sometimes. I have heard that they can be a risk factor for causing breast cancer. Presumably having to do with the restriction of circulation and maybe the materials they are made out of? However I have ALSO heard that bras are i

Thanks for the help. I have heard of the xenoextrogens and so I shop only at the health food store for personal and household products to stay clear of them. Plus in skincare I am extra cautious about ingredients. Today I bought supplements of Evening Primrose Oil because the woman working there suggested it (on top of the Flaxseed oil I am already taking) Now I have a new question-- If

Hello.... sometimes my cravings sneak back around at night (when I have to stay up working), and I feel like I just need CARBS, or even something cooked =(, and my craving tells me fruit and veges will not suffice. The only thing that sometimes helps are dates, but I don't want to be eating too many sweet fruit. Also I don't always have them around. Plus the craving is so particular that I usuall

Hey females! I have always had issues with this. I don't want to be on the pill, in fact I went off it several months ago. No matter what (pill or not), I have always had hormonal acne (on chin and jaw) every month it is extremely aggravating. Also I will sometimes feel "hormonal", or emotional when I know I am out of balance. I started taking some flaxseed oil every day because I

Prism: Thanks for the info! I also do use plain old castile soap which works fine but sometimes doesn't get the deep clean of an exfoliater. The main thing I use baking soda for is its slightly abrasive texture. Besides using it for cleaning house, I like to use it about once a week as an exfoliater on my face. And also in brushing my teeth as a whitener. So I have been looking for alternatives

Hello all... This is for anybody that knows their squashes =). I bought a spaghetti squash. It was big and light yellow colored. I cut it open and took out the seeds and mushy stuff. (It looks like a pumpkin inside! Reminds me of carving pumpkins at halloween!) ... Anyway, I used a fork to try to grate out some strings, but nothing "stringy" came of it! I got no "noodles"!!

I would think that the hair and skin issues are more detox related than protein related. (We really only *need* like 5% protein). I experienced hair loss in the beginning too.

P.S. I used to sweat a lot too... A LOT... but I have since equated it to the soda I was drinking. I used to drink a lot of diet soda... and also being probably full of toxins... makes a big difference in the amount of sweat you experience. Even though I still sweat sometimes a little, naturally, I know that at least I don't have to worry about it as much. And it's not smelly =)...So I would s

I also find that I don't need it anymore. I think the sweat was mostly toxins leaving my body. I have heard that lemon juice, or baking soda can help under the arms. I wouldn't recommend any store bought kinds, however this database may help: It lists by order of concern, according to what ingredients may be harmful. The crystal deodorant is the safest on their list... if you click on it yo

I just happened to read an article about a raw restaurant that serves wine. I thought it was interesting because I was wondering the same thing (i love wine!) The article ( here: ) says: "A glass of vino with that raw pasta? No problem. Since wine goes through no heating process, it gets the thumbs up from Juliano. Beer is a no-no since the hops are boiled, and the distillation process
