I agree with dreamearth... just don't eat it :-).. but DO JOIN the family dinner... so that they do not see this out of hostility. Keep yourself well-fed on your own stash of fruits and veggies or self-prepared dishes. Bring your own goodies to the table and they just might get intrigued by your new way of eating. Be sure to keep them informed about all the health benefits. Good luck!

I would suggest drinking more water or eating watery fruits too.... headaches are often related to dehydration. Also here is home remedy links for headaches =)

I usually assume it is the result of improper food combining. Recently I had a salad that included tomatoes and avocados (which I have always loved together)... but 2 days in a row this meal resulted in major bloating and stomach discomfort. I had thought that tomatoes and avocados are both (technically) fruit? Is this incorrect? Other than the above question I am interested in hearing what

Miss Joan: That is a good sign that you are "going" that much. I still only go about once a day even though I just started raw I was expecting more?? Don't know what I'm doing wrong... but YES, I saw Dr. Oz and heard all about the "letters S and C.." I used to see the "letters" and think "yay" to myself but have seen neither since going raw... ;p......

I think this has to do with getting more fiber- particularly insoluble fiber? I think that insoluble is the type that is responsible for "formation" haha.... I found a list here: looks like some high level foods are flax and almonds...

Another thing I am looking into is the possibility of eliminating the "nightshades" variety of plant- which includes tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, potatoes, etc. It has been found that tomatoes and others contribute to inflammation. So since I usually eat tomatoes every day I am planing to experiment by cutting them out for a while and see if it helps the acne. I know it has helped pe

Hi. I have had problems with acne and dry skin. Although I don't know all the details about your condition (i looked it up online), I do have some opinions that are based on my experience. The first thing I did was check ALL my personal care products meaning ANYTHING that your hair and skin come in contact with. Make sure there are NO irritating agents in them and NO chemicals whatsoever. Even

Thank you everyone! Thank you Tamu, I am definitely going to go buy those ingredients... the only one I am unfamiliar with is a vanilla "pod".. is this easy to find in a health food store? I've only ever bought vanilla extract so this is new to me. But it looks like a winner recipe and I am excited to try it out!!! =)

Hey there! I come to Jacksonville often (I grew up here) and my parents still live here. Nice to see someone else from the area! I had no idea there was a raw group in St Augustine so that is so exciting!!! Thanks for letting me know :-)

Wow! I didn't realize I had all those options... Haha. Well I think it would be nice if it did not take TOO long, but I do not necessarily need it to be "simple" =) Chocolate is always nice seeing as I have had NONE in so long! (but I heard that Carob powder was not good for you?) Besides that I love rich tasting, creamy, fruity, but not too horribly "Bad" for you... Haha I

Hello... I know people who use baking soda to wash (Including myself!) And I was wondering just how natural it can be considered? I know it is a chemical compound.. but did it "occur" naturally in earth? (Before people started to make and market it??) Also is it considered Raw? I looked up baking soda online but still have not found these answers. I always only put things on my

My boyfriend's birthday is upcoming and I am nervous.... about Cake! Haha... well that and all the other birthday goodies that might be involved. I do not want to be surrounded by non-raw temptations.... I would love to prepare something, but since I have only recently started eating raw I haven't got any recipe books yet, but more importantly, I wouldn't want to make just ANYTHING because it mig

Hey guys, Other than the handful of granola I had today it was my first true raw day, and I'm really excited! However, there have been some posts and other triggers that got me thinking more about CLEANSING. I have been vegan the past year and vegetarian 11 years before that, but I know I'm still toxic and probably have build up.... My main question is: Does going raw ALONE give me a good &q

Hey guys, I saw that the last post was about a new website and... As I have been surfing the web A LOT lately for good Raw Vegan sites, it's hard to tell which ones are true blue and that I can really count on. I know theres a lot of contradictory info. and hype out there and it can be difficult at times. Just wanted to see if you would like to post your favorites, to give newbies like me so

...I love this stuff... the hair wash is great! and I sometimes use their facewash as well. They have really good skincare info on their site about how to find TRUE organic/natural products. I haven't looked into home treatments for hair yet, so I continue to buy from them for now. But for body I use Dr. Bronner's magic soap. I know these things probably aren't considered raw... does anyone e

If you crave fats a lot, you might be Lipase deficient? If so you should eat more vegetables and eat flax but no other fat. Get all your enzymes and stop eating fats, and then your craving for fats will go away. I used to be the same way about carbs like bread, but once I stopped eating it every day and got more enzymes, cravings are rare....Its probably just that you haven't been raw long enough

Thanks for your reply!! I have bought the sprouted bread before, but I didn't think that it was considered raw, so I was interested in seeing if there was another option... can I buy grains at the store and "make" a bread substitute myself? Also with legumes, how long should they soak? I tried soaking black eyed peas the past couple days but they take so long to soften that I di

I've been drinking GT's Kombucha! ( ) I find that it helps my cravings as I am trying to go raw... I was wondering if anyone has found any reason against drinking it? I only drink about 1 bottle a day but (minus the small alcohol content) is there any health issues I should be aware of for this drink?

Hello all, I am new and would love some help transitioning my vegan diet to raw. =) The most concern I have is for beans and breads. My biggest question is HOW do you eat raw beans? (I had thought that they needed cooking in order to be edible?) and How do you eat raw grains? or "make" them into a bread-type substitute? As far as eating fruits and veges that works fine for me! B
