I agree. When people see the prepackaged raw foods at the grocery store with the insanely high prices attached to them, many may think they cannot afford to go raw. But in my reality since eating raw, my food costs have been considerably lower-even buying all organic. When I buy raw, from the produce section, I don't have to pay for the fancy packaging and slick marketing. I also have found t

Today I was at Whole Foods and I noticed a tiny raw food section filled with things like nuts, granola, cookies et cetera. Everything was prohibitively expensive. I did indeed find that annoying because everything was basically nuts and seeds with "raw" on the packaging. I really hope that most people do not fall for those marketing schemes. These are things that would be easy enough

Thank you all for your insights and suggestions. One of the things that I am really loving about getting into the raw food lifestyle is the level of awareness that I am developing for my body as well as an awareness of food itself. As a long term vegan, I always thought I had a high level awareness, but my reasons for veganism were more specifically focused on things outside of myself such as a

I've been eating raw since June. One thing that I have noticed since I've started paying attention is how much of my diet comes from fat. As much as 30% of my calories come from fat if I don't pay very close attention to what I am putting into my body. I was shocked when I came to this realization because I always assumed my diet was moderate in fat content. Even when I try really hard to cut

I broke my fast slowly, or so I thought. I had only fruits for the first week. After that, I have been having only raw fruits and vegetables. I did try to consume lentils twice and even though I was craving them, they made me feel horrible. I tried cooked rice once too and also felt not at all good. Other than than that, the only cooked food I've been having a couple slices of bread each day

What I have noticed so far (almost 2 months raw) is that I am hanging out with people less. Our social interactions always involve food. That is one thing I'm missing. My interactions are now focused on hiking, bike riding, sunbathing, sunset watching, and the occasional live performance/art opening. It has limited my social life for sure. I'll have to see how my relationships mold to the ne

Hello Everyone. I am wondering if some of you might have gone through a similar experience and maybe have some advice. I recently fasted for a month. Towards the end, I felt wonderful-clear mind, full of joy, smooth skin, small bursts of energy that I had not felt in a long while... I actually wanted to continue, but I had my mind set on a month, so I stayed with my original intention. The

I would never turn my back on someone I loved because of their diet either. But the fact for me is that I just am not sexually attracted to a meat eater. So I doubt it would ever come to the place of having to make the choice. Besides, my actions alone have inspired others to adopt a more ethical lifestyle. I have never felt the need to force change on anyone else. I can see that goodness sp

Hi crystalbat, Thanks for your post. I am transitioning to raw after a month fast. I have had some horrendous cramping/bloating/digestive expriences (similar to your description) after introducing food again (I introduced food slowly). It is discouraging to experience because I felt so wonderful towards the end while I was fasting. I sometimes wonder why I am doing this if I feel worse tha

Hi Mark, Maybe while you are trying to gain the courage to commit to raw, you can make the transition easier by beginning to detoxify yourself from the junk food you've been craving lately. Go back to the whole food diet you were consuming (minus the meat and dairy). When you are comfortable with that, then begin the transition to raw. It is a process that can't be reached overnight. I am another new raw diet experimentalist. I have been vegan for almost half of my life and I love that part of my identity. Because diet has been one of the important aspects of my life, I have read countless books on nutrition. I have read over and over about the importance of a diet that is low in fat and protein. I always assumed that my diet fit into that category. However, over the past

Hi jennifer, I am currently going through the same thing. I have several large fibriods, the largest being 10cm. I even have a lump in the same location that you described. In addition to the fibroids, I have a 5cm ovarian cyst. I was told that my uterus and one ovary should be removed. I am not accepting this. Most people around me are trying to push me to have the procedure. I have so
