I am also noticing that certain combos of food give me that same bloated, gassy feeling. But following that food combining chart is to time consuming. The one good thing about raw is that I have learned how to listen to my body. I had read many people say this when I first started out on this journey in Feb. of this year. Now I know what it means. I could never "hear" anything on the SA

Thanks for the advice. I will be mindful of my sodium intake, look for mold in my house and switch to organic detergent, and sheets to see if that helps.

David, I do wear lenses but not often. Maybe once a week. But there are times when I havent worn them for months and it still happens. I do not wear any makeup and am not sure how to avoid chemical exposure. How do I do that?

Maybe I should change my detergent. No to the other things. This has been happening for over a year now. So I will try an organic detergent to see is that helps. After a few hours they go back down to almost normal state.

I have a problem with my eyes. Every morning when i wake up they are swollen on top of eyelid and underneath. I had an allergy test but it didn't show anything. I thought maybe it was something I was eating, but I did an 8-day fast a couple of months ago, and it still continued to happen. I thought when I went raw, it would go away, but it hasn't. Anyone else ever experience this?

Thank you for all of the great advice and words of encouragement. I will just try and listen to my body and give it what it craves and just try to watch the fat intake. On the SAD diet, we learned that for a certain weight/height our bodies need at least (x) amount of calories to survive, usually about 1800-2000 per day, but I guess that is not true, since those of you eating fruits most of t

What are the mounds for if you will be planting in the flat soil around the mound?

I have been 90% raw for six weeks now, with the 10% cooked consisting of rice milk occasionally and sprouted grain tortillas occasionally with my hummus and veggies. During the first 4 weeks, I spent many hours in the kitchen making gourmet dishes from Alissa Cohens book as well as others that I had found. I guess this helped with transitioning into Raw, because these looked sort of like the real

When I go out to eat with friends at restaurants or their homes, I always bring my own food. I get asked tons of questions and always get comments about how the "person" could never eat like that etc.. But by the time I get finished educating them on the reasons that they and most Americans are: sick, pill dependent, tired, cranky, no energy, overweight, bad skin, full of diseases and

The seeds around the mound, are they down in the dirt, or just laying on top of the dirt? And also, do they need to be planted in an area by themselves, I heard that melon roots can spread far and wide, and I don't want them to choke my tomatoes, greens, etc.

I'd like to do it too, as I am just getting in to planting in the last week or so. I am in 110deg. hot Las Vegas Nevada, so I don't know if anything will survive. I barely survive myself!!! Do I have to do anything special to the soil, or do I just buy a packet of seeds, drop them into the soil, and wait?

Thanks for the suggestions, I will try them ALL. It is behind my thigh and it is so painful that I can hardly sleep because of the constant throbbing. I can't believe I got my first one at 40 years old. I hope it will be my last. I don't think I can endure this again. Cleaning up is hard to do!

I have been raw for almost 2 mo. now and have experienced my first boil. It is very painful. Is this part of the detox phase? Is this normal? Has anyone experienced this? How do I cure it naturally? Helppppppppp

I sprouted some mung beans as well and would like to know how long can you eat on them before they go bad? I've had mine in the fridge for almost a week and am always adding them to my juices and pate's.

I have made many of her recipes and I liked all of them. Her story is very interesting as well. I bought the book, which is as heavy as my telephone book, and read it in one night. (i didn't finish until 4am) Good reading though!

The strawberry shortcake sounds great, if only I could afford 30 strawberries for one dish. Where do you find them at a reasonable rate. In the stores they are $4-$5 for about 8 in the pkg.

Thank you so much for that. I will just focus on the wonderful transformations that my body "is" going thru and just oil up a few extra times a day

Yes I have been dry brushing for about 2 weeks once a day, maybe I should increase it to twice. It has not helped thus far. I have also began self massages once a day using coconut oil all over my body, but that hasn't helped either. I will try the oils that maui butterfly suggested.

Thank you, its a joy to have other raw foodists to commune with. I do drink lots of water and have had many, many colonics. I love them. When you finally decide to get your first colonic, you'll wonder why you didn't start years ago. I live in Las Vegas, which is extremely hot and dry and I'm sure doesn't help any. I guess it's just a waiting game then. Whether my dry skin goes away or not

I have been raw for almost a month and I absolutely love it. I've never liked the kitchen, but can now stay in there all day preparing "gourmet meals". I did not have any health problems to cure, but I do have extremely dry skin. I have always had to use a prescription lotion to help curb the cracking as well as not taking baths/showers daily, opting for a sponge bath every other day be
