Sorry, I haven't been here in a long time. Last year's two stevia plants did beautifully without me doing anything special. This year, I bought seeds...they didn't even germinate! There's a plant in the spot where I had the stevia & I thought it was one of the old ones come to life, but it's flowering now & the flowers don't look like ones I've seen on-line. So, I have no stevia no

Thanks, banana who! Unfortunately, I can't watch any more videos on-line this month as I have a low volume internet account (was finally able to get broadband just a couple of months ago). I live in a tiny rural hamlet & even the lowest account is quite expensive If you could find that recipe for eggplant chips, I'd appreciate it!

As far as I have found, there is definitely no source of fresh coconuts here. Only the dark brown very dry ones. If I cracked one of those open, would I find the green shell & fresh flesh inside?

Good article! I've already forwarded the link to a couple of family members who I know have bowel 'issues'!

That's interesting, Coco! They sure aren't in stores around here. Next time I'm in TO I'll have to search for some. How long do they last? (If I find some, I'd want to buy more than one.)

I've never even seen a fresh coconut! I live in southern Ontario, Canada, and they simply aren't available here, even in cities. I'd be interested in an answer to this, too.

I saw a post somewhere for a really simple dehydrated raw eggplant chip, but I can't find it now. Google shows a few more complicated ones. Does anybody simply salt the sliced eggplant & leave for a bit, then rinse (to remove bitterness) & then dehydrate? Are they good that plain? I got a few lovely small organic eggplants yesterday & want to make chips!

It's coffee, cheese and sweets for me. I have to avoid cheese totally, I've learned from past experience, and the cravings go away. I'm happy to eat a date once a day or so. It now fills the sweet craving. I've not tried any of the raw dessert recipes as I'm afraid they'll bring them back. I've not found any substitute for coffee. I still miss my morning 'wake up & warm up cup'. I was hopi

Stop eating the 'normal meals with meat'. My understanding is that this is a vegan raw forum.

Coconut water is great in smoothies! I've never had to add a sweetener to a smoothie, but I do almost always add a banana so I guess that's why. Chia seed gel, maca root powder and/or psyllium husk are great additions, too.

Thanks, WheatgrassYogi! I don't have a good juicer (except for the manual wheatgrass juicer) & I'm wondering if it's important to get one. I really don't have the money to spend. If that's the only reason, I think it's okay to stick with my morning wg juice, followed by a smoothie a little later.

Well, no, I didn't know either of those things! I'm in a Mac, but 'apple' 'control' 'click' works! Thanks!

I'm new here & finding lots of interesting info, links, and videos. Often, when you check out a link, there's another one and so on & so on. Could all links be made to open in a new tab so we don't lose our place here? (I do this on my own website, but for each individual link, so I don't know if it's possible to do it for the whole site. I hope so!) Thanks for a great community!

I've been making lots of smoothies in the VitaMix - love them! Is there any reason, other than digestibility, for drinking juice rather than smoothies? I'm happy to have the fibre along with the juice. It's more economical, too, I think. So many people are juicing that I imagine there must be a reason.

I have a Z-Star,too. Takes lots of time, but works well. As I'm new to wheatgrass juice, I didn't want to invest in an electric machine (or use electricity). If I make it often, I may invest in the future.

I'm quite new here & loving the forums! I have two questions: 1. Aside from the odd herb in a pot and starting seeds for spring planting, I've never grown veg indoors. I'm wondering if I could do it in a basement with grow lights. My house is very old (1855) & the basement is more a 'cellar', cold all year, humid in the summer. I'm in Ontario, Canada. 2. I've been growing my wheatgra

I'm growing heirloom tomatoes, mostly in my sister's garden because my property is surrounded by Black walnut trees (they exude 'juglone' which is poison to a lot of plants). I put a few in my own garden this year. They've gone through a lot of stress but are now fruiting & have new growth. My favourite heirloom tomatoes so far are 'Cherokee Purple' and 'Black Giant'. Both have amazing flavou

I'm growing stevia for the first time. I have two plants that are doing well. I think I'll start cutting off some & drying it now. I'm going to air dry rather than use the dehydrator. I dried some basil in the machine but it's not near as nice as herbs air dried. (I usually don't even use sweeteners, but like you, I thought it was a neat idea!)

Thanks, Alice. I'll try the damp paper towel method. Hope that softens it up enough that I can bite through them! No, no wasabi. I had a raw 'spread' I'd made, plus carrots, avocado, sprouts ++ the filling tasted great!

23. Nori
I've been vegetarian/vegan for over 25 years, but lately experimenting with raw foods. So far, so good, except for nori rolls. I made some lovely ones yesterday, but I couldn't bite through the nori! I ended up eating only the filling that squished out. Is there a secret? (I have to admit I didn't much like the very fishy taste, but I have 50 of them so I'd like to find a way of using them!)
