So beautiful Phantom. I love how you put this. I've been eating organic produce for at least 10 years, while I was a vegetarian. I can immediately tell if produce is organic or not, just by smell. It is one of the reasons I cannot eat just any old salad or fruit in a SAD restaurant if I'm out socializing with my non-raw friends. Or even if I'm at someone's house. I hardly go out anymore to e

Something to consider for those like me who don't have a vitamix or blendtec yet, you have to add water to cover the blades in most regular blenders. I usually have 90:10 ratio of greens to fruit in my smoothies. I usually add apples, especially with kale to offset bitterness. But as my taste buds change, I don't taste the bitterness in some greens as much so maybe one day I can skip the ap

Do you think they are too old? I've been preoccupied and ordered everything that long ago. Ironically, I planned to start growing some wheatgrass this week

This will prove controversial to some, but when I was transitioning I simply made a lot of raw desserts, chocolate pies and treats and ate them to my heart's content. It was better than grabbing for a "traditional" bad fat/white sugar treat. As time passed, I simply did not need to eat them anymore and I make a raw treat only occasionally now. Rather than feeding my emotions with t

Oh I forgot to add there is a youth/teenager section on the raw raw food talk board. Check it out...rawfoodtalk.com. You will probably get better advice and support from your peers on this subject. Some of whom may be struggling with similar issues. I truly wish you well...stay strong.

One option is to emancipate yourself at 16, but this is extreme and I'm sure you love your folks. The other option is to stay strong and try to demonostrate to your parents well you're doing. Over time they should begin to ease off a little when they see you're not sickly nor dying. :-) I like the idea of supplying them with literature and then walk away. They are probably working off their o

no extra sensitivity with the nipples since going raw, but definately with the "hoo ha". have to take steps to be extra careful not to upset the natural chemical balance if you know what i mean. otherwise it's on fire. and not in a good way.

I used to be a heavy herbal tea drinker. 2-3 cups per day, especially before I went to bed. Although I haven't steeped tea for at least 5 months, I've been drinking Pau D'Arco the past few days because I've had some resurgence of candida I thought I'd gotten rid of. Because this tea has worked well for me in the past to conquer candida, I'm incorporating it with other nutritional therapies - mo

Hey veggiefreak, I agree with David 100%. Of course I know he will respond to your question - I simply want to share I believe that you just know when you reach that "bedrock foundational motivation". For me it encompassed almost losing my life, reaching the depths of emotional despair and experiencing extreme pain in my body. I now have a greater appreciation for truly being healthy

A friend of mine sent this to me recently. Thought it was worth posting and take from it what you will. It's merely information...I realize just being Raw in and of itself is a HUGE healer, but I found this info fascinating. Peace. A professor at CCNY for a physiological psych class told his class about bananas. He said the expression "going bananas" is from the effects of

Bananas are such an amazing super food and I love them, but lately I haven't been wanting them as much. When I first went raw, I had banana ice cream daily for 2 months straight...and then ate 1-2 bananas separately. Came to about 6-8 medium sized bananas a day. I listen to my body...it was really loving them. Now I have about 3-4 per week...I now get my potassium from a wide variety of source

That is pretty funny. Same thing happened with my raw chocolate pie. I told my sister I'd make her one to try and she laughed and said "oh no, you'll probably put nuts and twigs in it...no thank you". LOL. I made it a couple of months later (with a nut crust -ha), brought it to the house and didn't mention it was raw. She had company and had some herself -- it was gone in 10 second

I think hydroponic greenhouses grow food underground or in water?? Doesn't mean that they're organic unless maybe the label says so. I think this process is used because it yields a greater amount of produce...yet I still think they use chemicals and it's not organic. Maybe someone with more knowledge about this will respond. I will stick to my natural food co-op though thank you very much.

I too find I'm gravitating to more simple clothing. I have for the past few years, but more recently it's very clear that I can no longer wear certain blended fabrics. They must be natural and feel good on my skin. When I think back to those stiff corporate business suits I used to wear every day...wow. I no longer have that stuff hanging in my closet. Hmmm well on the jewelry front, I mak

Hey bellefleur, we have similar histories with our diets and I can relate. 20 years as a vegan and vegetarian, I really had no issue with SAD eaters even when they ate meat. Things have changed and I find myself fleeing the kitchen when certain foods are being prepared. My housemate has a potluck 1 or 2 times a week ripe with every kind of microwaved, fried, baked food you can imagine. And the

238. Re: SEX
Well SEX is always a topic that I've been interested in. I'm a former sex addict who healed from this about 10 years ago, but it was still a struggle to stay grounded until I went 100% raw. I grew up in a very liberal household and so sex was never a topic of censorship. I also spent most of my youth and most of my adult years in the SF Bay Area where I really lost my way at one point as you pre

This brings me back to when I was a vegetarian, there was something about "raw people" that always bothered me. I could never enjoy my cooked food around them for some reason and they were always smiling, glowing and running around with bursts of energy. I agree with all of the comments about staying grounded in a loving, compassionate place when encountering naysayers and particul
