There's quite a lot happening on the Eastside (other side of the Lake from Seattle). Check out the following links: This site provides a list of whatever is happening in the area. dalene's is a raw restaurant that just opened in Kirkland. They usually offer classes of some sort or another. While you can order off the internet, you can also check this place out in person. The peo

culinarysuperstore.com is selling it for $419.99. This is a price other places won't match, since they can't buy it for this price. I would be VERY cautious in buying from them, since the only way to contact them is via e-mail, and they will not give out their phone number. While the prices are finally coming down a little on e-bay, all places I have found are still very expensive. The chea

If you suspect you have anemia, it is VERY important to find out what is causing it. Iron deficiency anemia is only one of many different types of anemia. In a graduate level nutrition class, we learnt that iron has no way of being actively excreted from the body (other than a small amount lost in stuff like sloughed off cells). Therefore, if you are taking high dose iron supplements, I migh

Thanks for the clarification! I know that the vita prep 3 is only about $50 more than the 5200 model (on certain websites). Although looking at the red based 5000 model it is about $100 more...

Is there a particular reason you are now recommending the 5000 model over the vita prep? I thought the vita prep was the model of choice for many raw foodists, since it could make smoother sauces?

I have Jennifer Cornbleet's raw food DVD - which I love, and am thinking of buying some other DVD's too. I would love to hear about which ones you love (or don't) and why. Thanks!

Thank you all for your suggestions - I am definitely going to have to try more of them! This morning I ended up having a banana smoothie, and that felt good - kind of had the same consistency as the potato soup! The other ideas for liquid refreshments sound good. Normally I ONLY drink water, but when I'm sick, it's the very last thing I want. I know I'm beginning to feel better when I wan

I was wondering whether any of you could share what comfort foods you enjoy, when you are feeling sick. I have a sore throat, and normally that would mean a delicious creamy (vegan) potato soup, and hot orange juice! Thanks so much!

I thought it was fabulous. Colin Campbell is a highly respected researcher who has received millions of dollars in grants from the US government. The book itself is very easy to read, and provides some interesting insights.

My three favourite in order are: 1. Raw Food Made Easy by Jennifer Cornbleet. Her recipes only require a blender and a food processor, so are very quick to make. Her recipes are very tasty too. 2. RAWvolution by Matt Amsden. A little more complicated, but a very nice format, plus he has coloured pictures to show you how the recipe is supposed to look. 3. The Raw 50 by Carol Alt. T

I own the Tribest personal blender and love it. It doesn't make smooth sauces out of nuts, but it can make frozen fruit smoothies, and comes with lids to store it in, or a sippy lid if you want to take it in the car with you. This is the second one I bought - my mother-in-law liked mine so much, I gave her my first one! It also comes with a grinding blade that is perfect for small quantities o

I was wondering whether anyone had experience with culinarysuperstore.com (or Prima Supply), and could share their opinion. I apologize if this question is not allowed on the forum - I couldn't find the regulations anywhere. I have been burnt once by buying on-line, so would prefer some recommendations. Thank you!

I ordered a prep 3 from someone one e-bay but was sent the 2 hp vita prep instead. I'm wondering whether it is worth sending it back, or if it is just as good. Anyone have experience with both of them? Thanks so much!
