Surprisingly to me like careful nimble youngsters with a herd instinct. The first bull ignores the human observers, instead learning his new space and mindful of the herd in the next pen. I'm not sure the myth is busted though. Put a bull in a real china shop on a polished hard floor and things could get ugly. Now, put a chimpanzee in that situation with people pointing and laughing in his

The new Schleck brothers team sounds like a bright spot in cycling news, against the investigations into Lance Armstrong and Alberto Contador, and "Thor Hushovd won the world championship title in Geelong, Australia, in October, becoming the first Norwegian to take the crown." - always liked Hushovd and didn't realize he was having such a good year.

So I tried the machete (single chop) method experimenting on a brown coconut, noting there are times to gently cut on the equator and times to cut pole to pole, this being the later. I sharpened the blade, put on my safey glasses, went outdoors and set the old coconut on a chopping block and took a huge swing down on it impacting about 3cm off center. It wasn't accurate enough just grazing the

Another PubMed article (Oral immunogenicity of the plant proteinase bromelain, 2006) suggests that oral bromelain can provoke an immune response, and that the more exposure to bromelain the greater the sensitivity. That seems counter-productive if trying to treat ulcerative colitis, but it sounds like a minority view and like they say more research is needed. It could help explain why some a

The 2 patients were unable to achieve remission on standard therapy. Clinical and endoscopic evidence of imp

That study has been further written of, following the above links -- "Dr. Welch and her co-workers estimated the intakes of omega-3 ALA, EPA, and DHA among the participating people – fish-eaters and non-fish-eating meat-eaters, vegetarians, or vegans – and compared those intakes with their actual blood levels of ALA, EPA, and DHA. Close, it's of a chef showing off his skills chopping food on a napkin on a woman's bare back. Maybe that was a bad example but knife skills can be sexy don't you think?

That must have been satisfying to make. I've posted this video before but it shows a man using a full machete to open a green coconut. He has dead aim here and keeps his fingers and toes well out of the path of the blade -- This is also how Fred Bisci did it, at least the chop part.

I love the drill method for getting the water out. One good size hole makes for quick draining, though my experience is only with brown coconuts and I use an old pair of scizzors to auger out the soft "coconut eye". Chef Steffy Sue has impeccable knife skills using "the claw" finger position even when cutting into the coconut husk, and she's cute and funny! Thanks, J

The cycling tour "banana in you" video was actually my first choice, you know the one with bananas ubiquitous in nature and the edible bike. Does anyone have a link? Monty Python made a bike tour skit sequel though I can't quite place it. My bike has a mystery squeak when pedling hard. I'm suspecting peddle crank bearings. Time for an overhaul.

I see now, thermite is a pyrotechnic. My aluminum is actually aluminum sulfate for gardening. It wouldn't work anyway so I guess I'll stick with my portable oven which will heat asphalt to 450F which is all I need if I ever patch another pothole with anything but cobbles.

Just got back from a ride and noticed a 1/2 inch ground rod along one dirt road twisted over and sticking out a foot into the road and about 6" high, some old relic perfect for tripping someone up. I pulled it out of the ground - now about 2 kilos of copper off in the brush waiting for me to collect some day with my wagon.

Haha, I've got a grudge against this one pothole. Do you make your own thermite? I've got a kilo of fine granulated aluminum which I understand is a common base -- "The melting and boiling points of aluminium also make it ideal for thermite reactions. Its relatively low melting point (660 °C, 1221 °F) means that it is easy to melt the metal, so that the reaction can occur mainly in

If you're a food processor this food additive, hexamethylenetetramine might be appealing if you want the antimicrobial effects of formaldehyde without the hassles of stocking it and having to declare it on the lable. According to Inchem this preservative becomes formaldehyde upon hydrolysis and has been around at least since 1964 -- SPECIFICATIONS FOR IDENTITY AND PURITY AND TOXICOLOGIC
