hi prana and powerlifter....it does feel like the desire for bread (or any complex carb) is like an addiction craving. i was very addicted to processed sugar years ago and remember that feeling. this is similar. it's like bread or grains are the last hurdle...i once got past this years ago, and now it's where i've been stuck for a long time. i love fruit, sometimes i wonder if i'm having too m

...i'm glad it's not just me. bread is my weakness. often i go months without it, but slip back again. i guess some every 5 months isn't that bad. then i get back to whole foods diet, just too much cooked food. you're at 80-90% raw, that's good! if i'd stay at that consistant, i'd be pretty happy. i slip, and then it's a climb back to that and almost 100%, then back again. maybe i should try for

hi everyone....i'm wondering if others have/had the same difficulties i am in going 100%. where i run into trouble is cravings for complex carbohydrate, like popcorn or bread. some alternatives i've thought of, like nuts/seeds..i've not been able to make this work yet. what happens is i overdo it on them trying to compensate for the complex carbs, and then it's worse than just having a potato

hi eecho...i will try it, thanks. i ordered some cacao butter a couple days ago, maybe i didn't need it! i'll try it a few ways maybe...

how'd you do it, do you just liquify the cacoa butter and cacoa powder together, then add some sweetner and whatever else you'd like? is there a trick to getting it the right consistancy? thanks everyone...

hi veghunter....you'd mentioned: "What I do have is very low estrogen, SHBG, vit D, ferritin, DHEA-S, etc. and tons of awful symptoms from weight gain and buffalo hump to (b)acne and toe fungus. I have a diagnosis of PCOS, but the endo who diagnosed this is suspicious of other disease." don't know if you're already onto this or not, but low thyroid can be doing this. low adrenal o

since using it a bit more now, the pulp isn't as wet as the first few times...maybe partially what i'm juicing, or maybe i didn't have that plug in fully... the quality of the juice tastes great, i must say, as good as my hippocrates from what i remember. yesterday i did a juice of only lettuce and apple, and that didn't work as well, a lot of lettuce was just spun around and shredded insid

lol..soft puree fruit machine. i hadn't tried fruit yet, i see it doesn't do it too well, or maybe just the soft ones, something like apples may be okay? i'll have to try. thanks for sharing, i like hearing others experiences and which juicer they like. i was actually more leaning towards greenstar, they are so expensive here. i thought this would do for now and the speed of it is a real plus

okay, got my juicer. i quite like it. it's fast and as far as i can tell, the juice seems very good quality. if i still had my other juicers to do a side by side comparison, that'd be cool. but it's now the only one i have. my main concern was would it give as high quality juice as dual gear juicers? i don't know, taste wise from what i remember, seems the same. i've never tried the norwalk thoug

thanks for letting me know! i'm in canada though, it might make it not really feasible with shipping... i'd read your wanting to get a vitamix. i bought one a year ago...it's awesome. i put off getting it for a long time because of cost, and then wondered if i'd kick myself for spending so much on a blender when i finally did get it...not at all. i love it, use it everyday for smoothies...

i'm really regretting selling my champion juicer now. i used to do something similar with making carrot/apple juice with it which was very fast and easy clean up...and while i couldn't make 2 quarts at a time, it'd do 1 anyhow and very fast...why'd i sell it? oh well...thanks for your input, maybe i'll do something like that again keep the hippocrates and get a faster one for non leafy produce...

okay, that's great, i'll keep an eye out if you decide to sell it. i know what you mean about alternating soft and fibrous produce, my hippocrates is like that too... enjoy your new juicer....oh, i'm inspired to start juicing again now...

okay, that's good to know. i'm thinking of getting a juicer just as soon as i get some more counter space in my kitchen so i can use it. i just moved and there's no where to do anything in there...have to get an island or something... when you get 3 or 4 quarts juice, what type of things are you juicing...i'd probably do green juices like lettuce, collards, cabbage and some apple...

thanks, that's very helpful. i think i'm leaning toward greenstar as well, particularily if it's almost as fast as omega. the main thing i'm looking for is a juicer that i can make enough juice for the day in good amount of time...but still quality juice, of course... when i bought the hippocrates years ago, i should have researched a bit more first...it is slow press and great with greens, bu

hello everyone, i am in need of a new juicer, something that i can make a couple quarts/day that doesn't take 3 hours! i love juicing, but haven't been this last year due to time . i have a hippocrates juicer, which is nice, but it takes forever to make anything and long to clean up. i had a champion juicer which was much faster, but couldn't seem to make much juice at one time, had to stop

thanks everyone, your input helped me. I think if I happened upon a very clean spring, it'd be okay...but I guess I'm more for the filtered water still.

interesting, thanks. what if one goes to the spring and collects it themselves? so you know it is really spring water, not tap water in a bottle. i've been reading about some raw foodists doing this. although another problem is storing it in plastic....that, and the whole idea doesn't seem very workable, finding springs and driving out to them all the time. but, in theory, I liked the idea

hi...one idea is to make a green smoothie with it, like a couple frozen bananas and an apple in some water with ice...blend it up. the fruit masks it totally, you won't even taste it. that's how I get around it, on it's own it tastes terrible to me. but I do actually feel quite good having it.

hello everyone...this has probably been discussed before, but what's your opinion on which is best. I've been hearing a lot about natural spring water, daniel vitalis and getting it from source. not that it'd be easy to get to springs all the time (or anytime), but I'd be curious to see if drinking it felt different to me...though my concern is contaminants. does spring water have pesticides and
