I can't find the link right now, but there is a woman who kept an online log of how she used raw foods to gain weight. Due to a disorder she had, she was intolerant to many foods, and was underweight, until she went raw, kept track of her calories, and in the end she gained 10 pounds I think. If I find it I will post it. I know her story is popular on sites that have before and after raw gallerie

I get leg cramps sometimes when I go from eating poorly to eating very clean with lots of raw greens. My mom just adopted a healthier diet and reported cramps as a short term effect, too. I don't have an explanation, but it happens to me sometimes. I'm only 20. My mom is 46. I'm vegan, she isn't.

I ate lots of cooked vegan food this week too. I woke up crying today. Its only becoming more and more apparent to me how sensitive my mental health is to certain foods and how periods without fresh food really take a toll on my body and mind. It tasted good but I was so excited to get my kale, chard, broccoli and avocados today. Anyway, I'm happy to hear you feel mentally sound, that's possibly

I sometimes take a sublingual b12. It's Whole Foods brand. I don't know much about it except one of my legs used to fall asleep severely where I couldn't walk for a few minutes up to 3 times a day, and that hasn't happened since I started taking it.

Last year I had Tofurkey and soy ice cream. This year I'm thinking a really delicious spinach salad with avocado and sprouts and olives. Maybe I'll have dates for dessert. No idea. I always hated stuffing but was obsessed with mashed potatoes. I wouldn't not have a little if my mom made some with soy or rice milk. They're so freaking good.

Maybe it was the collards, they're kind of tough when they're not lightly steamed? Definitely work your way up to a higher green ratio, sometimes it is better to do mostly fruit in the beginning. It sounds like you're really paying attention to your body! How excellent . If you don't feel comfortable being 100%, don't. It's not for everyone, it's not for me, and I see worthwhile benefits from eat

<3 welcome! I need to do my homework so I'm going to keep this short but 1) this health journey is about progress, not perfection. Now that you are starting to understand what is suitable food to eat, and you increase the amounts of those foods, your body will most likely naturally start to dislike the food you used to love, and 2) it will take some time to find the best raw for you, but I can

**Eating raw doesn't make you sound like a freak. It's foreign but if we perpetuate that we're "freaks" because we chose a certain diet, then how can we expect to be relatable? I'm not a freak because I eat human food. I am "different" (in America) because I don't eat hot dogs and cake. It would be cool to live in a country with an actual... cuisine? All the Chinese food plac

I always associate green with unripe so I've never really wanted to give them a chance. I really love ripe black figs, they're sweet and soft and fragrant.

I think the smell of fall, that mysterious charred leaves/wood mixed with that chilly (but not too cold) October bite, is one of my favorite things ever. It makes me so happy and nostalgic. The clouds were magnificent today. Familiar, simple things that have me in constant awe.

Because there is no other way to eat. I don't believe anyone needs to exclude all cooked food to be healthy, which is why my diet is made up of lots of fruit, vegetables, greens, and when I want it, healthy, real, fresh, not raw food. Sometimes that means tofu or hummus or Lara Bars or quinoa. It feels good. I just ALWAYS exclude sugar, preservatives, food coloring, chemicals, and whatnot. It mak

No one came up with orthorexia to invent a new way to harm oneself. No one "came up with orthorexia" to draw attention away from the dangers of cigarette smoking or low exercise, high processed food, negative lifestyles. If that's your point, it's quite obvious why everyone else's reasoning goes straight through you. I'm not asking you to agree with me, but it's just hard to take yo

*When you get calories from fat, if you need them, you can use them very quickly and efficiently for energy, if they're not saturated animal fats (in my opinion-hard to digest compared to nuts and seeds and fatty fruits)

No one here is going anywhere and it is HEALTHY to get away from group mentality/other people's opinions/the internet for a while, so why don't you do that? Also, go somewhere where you are safe, please! As a fellow human, I want to see you being tak

It's kind of sad how because we all need to work so often/hard to make a living, we've grown to sacrifice taking care of ourselves for convienence. Everyone puts their health on the back burner and accepts it because we have to study for that test or finish that paperwork or take the kids to soccer. It sounds kind of dramatic but it's true. That and we're so stimulated with TV, music, movies, ads

How can someone not be anorexic and a raw foodist at the same time? Just because you haven't heard of something or don't believe in it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Not eating garlic and onions doesn't make one eating disordered. What I meant was that some people have really far out arguments for why they don't. That doesn't mean they're not acceptable, I mean, everyone is entitled to their

I don't know why you're so threatened by a disorder, if you will, or behavior, that some healthy people or raw foodists get labeled. Why would you let someone else's opinion bother you? Is it because you are extremely concious about healthy eating and get criticised for it? Whether it's personal or not, so what? If Orthorexia exists, and people have been exhibiting these behaviors before they kne

That's the other thing! All this junk science that keeps people confused. Hydrogenated peanut butter has 10% Vitamin A in two tablespoons and is allowed to say "Good source of Vitamin A" on it. WHAT. Hydrogenated. Creates trans fatty acids (although somehow there weren't any reported on the label?) I hate how this country thrives off the misinformation it feeds the people. I think that'

It's this giant avoidance and endless pursuit of not offending anyone that makes me so angry! It's no one's fault, I just hate being on the "inside" and knowing the truth about health and watching everyone around me suffer, while they're kind of aware of their suffering yet nothing changes to stop it. I could always say something, but rarely do I get the chance to state my opinions with

I became a pescetarian at age 12, vegan at 18, and when I was 19 I started incorporating large amounts of raw foods into my diet and cut out almost everything unnatural. Today I still eat at least 50% raw. Lots of fruit, green smoothies, some nuts and seeds, blended soups, hummus, etc. No wheat, no sugar.

I have sprouted dried garbanzos a few times and made hummus with them. A nuttier taste definitely, and they have that "shell" you mentioned that I like to pop off. I kind of like the taste, I eat them alone sometimes.

I'm so happy you figured out what works for you! It can be tough to mentally overcome an ideal you had in your head and faithfully practiced for many, many years but you owe it to yourself to feel great and to be healthy. I don't judge you and nor does anyone else here. Good luck and enjoy!

Maybe it's a biological thing. When you're sick, foods that are bad (don't contribute to your health) don't taste right or like anything at all, thus you might abstain from eating altogether for that period, which allows your body to work on healing. Since you said you can taste raw food when you're sick, you will continue to eat them and heal your body faster, so you can eat and recover instead

I appreciate tattoos but probably won't ever get one myself although I do love piercings. I have 2 per lobe but I rarely wear jewlery in them, I also have my nostrils pierced on each side. I wear a ring in one and a stud in the other. I've also had pink hair twice. Something about ink in skin doesn't do it for ME, but I loooove body modification and I am cool with all of it. I plan on getting my

I'm a third year biochemistry major at a public university. Through veganism and now raw foods (and all of the information I've learned in my own personal research because of these two diets) I've decided I want to persue nutrition in graduate school. (While everyone else tries to "find cures" for completely curable or diet managable disorders and diseases)

A little salt and pepper isn't going to kill anyone. I just think comparing pepper to something actually toxic like cigarette smoke is kind of silly. We all can agree that compared to a delicious raw salad that roasted brussel sprouts are second best, but seriously it's food and roasted brussel sprouts with a couple extra ingredients isn't nearly as toxic as a piece of cake.

I must say I've had the same exact thought. How can some people eat garbage all day and be star athletes, have ripped bodies and seemingly endless endurance? It's got to be a positive mind/spirit then.
