Physics is the only science currently worth taking. It's actually amazing and not misguided with mountains of misinformation. Chemistry's alright. Biology is a freaking mess though. I went to school for it. It was so wrong. I do love the scientific process.

I love the smell of backyard dirt. My parents' neighbor calls it "clean dirt" - like if there's a little on some vegetables she's like "oh that's ok, it's just clean dirt." as opposed to say, nasty chemical pesticides.

I also have a hunch that these lycopene tests were done on regular store-bought tomatoes, some of which are picked green and then gas-ripened (like those flavorless conventional beefsteak tomatoes). Garden-grown tomatoes that you pick yourself are ideally picked at their reddest, juiciest moment on the vine and when you eat them, they're warm from the sun. I wonder when tomatoes are fully ripe li

Nature didn't grow stores, stores are man-made. Nature does, however, grow sprouted grains.

Yes that's what the article said - that people in their late 20's to early 30's are getting coronary heart disease after gastric bypass. I'm totally stumped as to what the cause could be - I'm hoping someone here might have an idea. How weird is that? And Sapphire - yes I read about the skin elasticity thing too - I think I read it in peoples' raw bios, people who opted for raw as a last resor

You're talking about how things like sprouting can be accomplished in a modern setting, like an office. I'm talking about what happens in nature and how nature intended. Nature didn't build offices, humans did. Nature did, however, give us sprouted grains growing out of the ground. The fact that we can replicate nature indoors is irrelevant.

I thought this article was interesting so I thought I'd post it - I suppose it's neither raw nor vegan but since I know people often avoid weightloss surgery by going raw, it might be relevant. The title is "Heart Deaths, Suicides Up After Weightloss Surgery"

I think the label probably refers to a product similar to Bragg's Amino Acids, which is like soy sauce. I can't remember if it's raw though. Btw your Whole Foods carries that kale salad? I'm so jealous. Mine (NYC) used to, but they stopped having it years ago. I even wrote them "comments" notes saying please bring it back - but I never saw it again. I love that kale salad and it's way

I switched from mainstream toothpaste to Sea Fresh by JASON and I love it. It contains no sodium laureth sulfate. Getting that stuff out of my teeth and hair products has made them both look much better. They put sodium laureth sulfate in shampoos and toothpaste but it's too harsh and generally does more harm than good.

ooh I used to love bitter melon raw. For a long time, I really craved and ate alot of bitter foods. They say that bitter foods cleanse the liver, so that's probably why I craved and enjoyed bitter melon so much - in my mid-20's I was once diagnosed with fatty liver, so I know there was still some liver cleansing that needed to happen. If you don't crave it, don't eat it. You'll know from the

Since your cravings are cyclical, I think it's safe to say it's the magnesium in chocolate that you're craving, as magnesium levels are at their lowest point the week before your period.

haha, Hi Joe, funny intro! and I have to say, I've never heard anyone actually refer to themselves as "pubescent" lol, that cracks me up. I would recommend the book "Sugar Blues" - it's a fascinating read, as it's mostly a history book and not your usual nutrition guide type of inane read. Also the author had acne when he was a teenager, so he goes into that. He never ge

There seems to be some confusion regarding this topic. Raw foodist 101 - What is a fruit? Knowing this should make our food choices much easier to figure out. Grains are fruits, so are peppers, pea pods, cucumbers, etc. I've pasted one complete listing of fruits below (from waynesword.palomar.edu/fruitid1.htm): FRUIT IDENTIFICATION OUTLINE: I. Simple Fruits: A single ripened ova

Grains ARE fruits. From "Wayne's Word" by W.P. Armstrong, An Online Textbook of Natural History: c. Grain or Caryopsis: "A very small, dry, one-seeded, indehiscent fruit in which the actual seed coat is completely fused to the ovary wall or pericarp. The outer pericarp layer or husk is referred to as the bran, while the inner, seed layer is called the germ. This is the ch
