Yes. Simpler is better. One day I will move out of my house and just use it to store my few belongings and live and sleep outside every night, but that day is not here yet. Too many things need to be done first. The more you have, the more you are afraid of losing. Material possessions don't bring peace of mind, they bring fear! When you learn to get by on little all of that fear goes away.

Why do people consistently choose the quick fix over the long-term one? Give someone a band-aid solution and they're happy, but tell them how they can actually get to the root of their problem and eliminate it for good and they balk. Why do people think that exercising for an hour will counteract an entire day spent sitting down? Why not change your lifestyle so you are active the majority of you

So true. Going to the gym and working out for an hour isn't good enough if we are spending 8 hours a day sitting. It's kind of like modern medicine in that it will help counteract some of the symptoms but not fix the underlying problem. A complete lifestyle change is needed, because most people are living a highly unnatural and unsustainable way of life.

We are all exposed to mental garbage everyday, and much of this garbage finds its way into our subconcious, where it subtly alters our thinking and decision-making. Watching television and listening to the radio and mainstream music WILL pollute your mind and fill your subconscious with all sorts of undesirable thoughts. Just walking down the street we are exposed to advertisements and symbolism

It's great to see a topic about this. The majority of people do seem to be addicted to technology, and it is indeed very detrimental.  Here's part of a post I made on another forum on this topic: QuoteYou may say you don't have the time, but if you really sit down and think about how you spend your day, most people find that their problem isn't a lack of time, their problem is that they don't

QuoteOne day, I might share my own experience in working with infectious diseases from an extra sensory perspective. There is so much more to the story than people realize. I would be very interested in hearing about that.

QuoteA couple of more hours and you can dehydrate enough greens to powder for your own homemade protein powders. In the summer I use weeds and grass from my own yard even. It's awesome that you use weeds and grasses, but why not just juice them? Why dehydrate them and then (presumably) reconstitute them in water later? It sounds like an unnecessary number of steps to me.

Try sprouting filling and "meaty" foods like sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, chia seeds, etc. Sprouted legumes are also a good choice for filling and nutritious fare. Sprouted seeds and legumes both have far more nutrients than breads and are also a much better choice than meat. Lack of transportation won't be an issue because you can easily pick up a 10 or 25 pound bag at a time, and

I have not read all of the posts here yet, so I will just comment on the topic of the thread for now. Arugula: that link you posted about juicing compares store-bought, heavily modified + pasteurized fruit juices with whole fruit. Mass produced juices aren't even food. First the fruit is basically reduced to pure sugar through extensive processing, then "reconstituted" by adding fl

It seems like the logical thing to do in such a situation would be to just ferment the brown rice. You would then get the best of both worlds - plus a little more because of the extras goodies from consuming fermented foods. QuotePersonally, I would rather consume fermented brown rather than white rice, but I don't know how to properly ferment it. There are many different ways to ferment thi

QuoteI also have that same abysmal/dead problem with seeds and nuts I've soaked, sprouted, and dehydrated myself. There seems to be a distinction to be drawn between viable seeds and nuts vs. rendered unviable ones as a food source. I am strongly against dehydrated foods, and in my opinion they do indeed have much of the life force drained from them. They may be raw, but that does not make them

I agree with you in that some people aren't ready to advance spiritually until their basic needs have been met, but for some that very lack of basic needs spurs on their spiritual growth. It all depends on the level of evolvement of the individual.

Adversity only brings out what's already in us. If the family starts fighting and gets a divorce after their income decreases, the seed was already there...it just needed those adverse conditions to sprout and grow. This is why so-called evil and suffering are necessary to our development; if everything was perfect, it would be easy to be good and kind and virtuous. But that would be living a per

QuoteI know what it is like to be evil and materialistic, I done that. I KNOW now, that I want to be a moral person. A good person. That's how the system works. We've all been there at some point, in this life or previous ones. Some people are still at that level of materialism and selfishness, others have gone past it, and many will likely return to that level multiple times on their journey.

Quoteif all is mind, then why isn't the outside world also part of mind when people talk about thinking good thoughts, and Ignoring the darkness and therefore never dealing with it? The darkness from outside will always come back to haunt if one doesn't try to resolve that also. It's just vague when peple talk about thoughts but can't connect it with the physical reality. It's a seperation from m

QuoteIMO physical health is a requirement to spiritual health, and vice versa. To a very large degree it is, but there are some exceptions. Some people are very spiritual although physically ill, and many people are physically healthy (according to societies' standards) but very spiritually ill. But true health always corresponds with increased spirituality, because in most cases they are inext

suncloud: you took the words right out of my mouth! It is certainly possible to be 100% raw. It is however very difficult to make 100% raw sustainable in the long term unless you grow the majority of your food yourself or get it very fresh. Whether or not it's possible to be 100% vegan depends on what definition you subscribe to. We can strive to be 100% raw, but if we fall short we shou

Instead of insulting the things about others we don't like, why don't we praise the things we do like? Quotewell... I had cooked beets yesterday. Wasn't so bad. I think perhaps cooking some food if you dont have the ferments in order might be useful I may catch some flak for this, but if you aren't fermenting or juicing them, most vegetables *should* be eaten cooked. Nobody should be eating raw beets or broccoli as they are, because they have lots of harsh indigestible fiber. Some people may do

Quote True, but it's also necessary to remember that we are pioneers--we are pushing the envelope of what is known, and there is something to be gained with the endless bickering of what might seem now to be minutiae but turn out to be something important. If it gets people to think, it is a good thing. We can learn from each other. We can learn from each other, and it's a good thing that w

I'm sure we can all discuss our differing views on diet without insulting other peoples' diets, can't we? There are lots of ways to mention perceived shortcomings in a diet without being offensive, and likewise plenty of ways to respond to offensive posts in a pleasant manner.  Great health is nice, but what is it really worth if we don't treat others with kindness and compassion? I'd rather

QuoteI saw RAW OATMEAL in the supermarket, organic..and I was wondering, how do I make stuff with that? I'd imagine people just soak it in water and eat it as uncooked oatmeal, but that wouldn't be ideal because just soaking still leaves a significant portion of the antinutrients and doesn't increase the nutritional value near as much as sprouting, but you wouldn't be able to sprout oatmeal any

QuoteIMO, a raw vegan diet can, and should, taste most excellent. No need to choose between the bad and the ugly (the only real places available for categorizing raw sprouted legumes). Raw organic Austrian Pepitas are high in lysine and can be a delicious treat or a fabulous recipe ingredient - as can other nuts and seeds. They are safer, more digestable, and taste way WAY better than raw spr
