It maybe best for you to not suggest anything for your husband right now. When I first told people I was going raw they were skeptical. They would say "That sounds like a great cleanse for a week but it's unhealthy to keep that up long term!". The comments got worse as my body was detoxing! My mom would beg me to eat some meat for my "health". I never really brought up th

My problem is that I really don't have much of a light source. Maybe I should by one of those special bulbs for plants.

You could always go get an allergy test done. I have a friend who got one done and found out she was allergic to alot of stuff! Not just rashes but sometimes just headaches and other things. As soon as she stopped eating those things she felt better. (The funny thing is that she was mostly allergic to things on a typical SAD diet)

I live in a very small studio right now with no patio or balcony. I would love to grow some of my own food! Does anyone know of any edible plants that grow well indoors?

Thanks everyone. I'll make an effort to cut down and hopefully eliminate soy from my diet. My biggest consumption of soy is soymilk. I'm starting to experiement with my own raw nutmilks which is going quite well.

From my understanding and from what I have been reading, your body can eventually need less calories. If you supply your body with the right nutrients then it is able to run better. Just like a car with all of it's parts in peak condition will use less gas then a car needing new parts.

Now keep in mind that I'm not a doctor. This is just personal experience. You may want to check your blood pressure when you feel like that. Low blood pressure runs in my family and I have it also. When I feel like that I check my blood pressure and it's usually low. I had a doctor tell me that if I have a little sodium it will help to raise my blood pressure a little. It could be that

I think everyone should be kind and respect others personal decisions on how they handle their raw journey. There are so many people just starting out (including myself) that already have what feels like the whole world against them and can feel very vulnerable. I personally look to this site for support and to know that there are others out there just like me. People here get enough of &q

Thanks everyone. I'm starting to look into the food combining and it makes sense. I'm going to read a little more on it but it has actually helped a little.

I think that when a person is just transitioning to raw, they should take some sort of supplement until they get a good variety of food going. I am slowly trying new fruits and vegetables every week but until I feel comfortable with my nutritional intake, I will take a supplement.

When an immune system has not been exposed and built up by certain germs then it is actually weak. This is why people who are not native to Mexico must drink bottled water to avoid digestive problems while those who grew up there can drink the water just fine. During the 1700's in North America the British gave blankets that were used by people with smallpox to several Native American tribes as

My boyfriend and I have both had more gas since we started eating more raw. This is a problem because I am an esthetician and work one on one in a small room with people. Nowhere to hide! Anyway, is this just our systems clearing out?

Right now I am currently drinking a smoothie made with 2 celery ribs with leaves, 1/2 cup pineapple, a large handful of strawberries, and 3 large handfuls of spinach. Yummm!

I too am grateful that I found this site. I have fallen short of my raw food goals lately with co-workers and family having parties for birthdays and babyshowers and wedding showers...and it won't be over till April. I go to the gatherings and have a little cooked food. All I hear is "It's great to see you eating 'real food' for a change" or "I knew you couldn't live off of rabb

It depends on my mood. I go through veggie weeks and fruit weeks. This week is definitly a fruit week! I did the same thing when I was on the SAD diet. One week was a sweet kick and the next I wanted nothing but bland.

lol! Poor Taylor! Don't worry. Large quantities of carrots can cause your skin to become orange but its nothing that will hurt you. Cut back on your carrots some and your skin should return to it's normal hue in a few weeks.

Water exercises can be great for people if you have access to a place. You can strengthen your muscles with less strain. Start out with empty water bottles and try to push them underwater with your arms. The resistance will help to slowly build muscle. You can work your way up to larger empty containers to increase resistance. You can fill them with a little water for less resistance. Also

I am not much of a recipe person myself. My man and I have tried quite a few recipes and neither one of us were to keen on most of them. I find that sometimes it works best to keep it simple. Just eat individual things and learn to enjoy the flavor of each. I say this because one of the first raw recipes I did called for avacado. I had never had an avacado and knew nothing about it. Into the

I'm feeling much better today thankyou. I literally thought I was going to die last night though. My bloodpressure dropped really low and my temperature dropped. I almost blacked out. My boyfriend made me salt water and it actually helped. This morning I feel fine. Although I don't want to go near anything with fat in it. Not even raw nuts or avacodo.

When I first transitioned to raw I had some trouble, but nothing I couldn't handle. I even stopped craving cooked food all together and felt great! Then came Saturday night..... I was invited at the last minute to a retirement/cocktail party and had just enough time to change and get there. I was SO HUNGRY because I didn't have time to eat and figured there would be some fruit or something

When you have a change in diet and are not getting enough calories, your body will try to lose the thing that is burning the most calories. Muscle. If you are not getting enough calories and are not working your muscles on a regular basis, then you will lose them. Make sure that you keep working those muscles so that your body knows they are not expendable. Ever since I started focusing more o
