WY--
I can't believe no one's responded yet! Have to admit, though, I'm still mulling over how to answer this one. I have a number of different responses, and I only want to have ONE. I can answer a number of ways, depending on what level I'm operating from. Think I'll mull it over some more and answer later!lol

I'll be back!

Kwan...I appreciate your response. Maybe no one
has clearly established who they want to be. Or maybe no one
wants to share.....it is very personal.
It was probably too Corny to ask such a question, but it is needed for me
personally at this time. I've been doing a lot of soul-searching
here lately. It's up to all of us (our Duty even) to become the person
we envision ourselves to be. Then, and only then, we
can be an example to the rest of the World, but mainly to
ourselves. How would it feel to look in the mirror and see ourselves
with deep admiration...knowing we're doing everything right? That's
the kind of Life I want to live.....WY
P.S. Look at what Jericho Sunfire is doing...that kind
of thing is what I mean.

WY -

I'm with kwan on this one as well; depending on my "level", I could also answer several different ways. Generally speaking though, I feel as long as you get up in the morning & actually purpose in your mind to accomplish something that day, you are on the right track...instead of simply taking up space in this world by simply "vegging out on the couch"...lol...I don't mean for that to sound harsh.

I am one that is "always on the go"...you will never catch me on the couch. winking smiley

I'm sitting here staring at the screen waiting for my answer to start the keys tapping but... that's too hard to answer. Is there only one purpose for each person? I don't know about that.
I am here to be mama to my babies, to grow and learn and improve constantly, to create positivity, to challenge the rules, to eat, to laugh, to love, to dance, to make art... The list goes on and on.

On the most basic level I feel certain that I'm here to learn and remember to love as well as I can in every situation. I guess I'd call that my 'primary' purpose.

My purpose would be/ is to inspire, in an ideal world. I wouldn't like to be a motivational speaker or something as I am a behind the scenes kind of person..peek a boo! lol. But I've overcome a fair amount of adversity in my life and do think we can overcome anything and anything we can't overcome we can change the way we think about it and overcome it in that fashion. We are divine beings surrounded by possibilty. Possibility. Possibility...Everywhere. I can't resist sharing this story I found lately...

Cliff Young.

Every year, Australia hosts an 875-kilometer endurance racing from Sydney to Melbourne – considered to be the world’s longest and toughest ultra-marathon. It’s a long, tough race that takes a week and normally participated by world-class athletes who train specially for the event. Backed by big names in sports like Nike, these athletes are mostly less than 30 years old men and women equipped with the most expensive sponsored training outfits and shoes.

In 1983, these top class runners were in for a surprise. On the day of the race, a guy named Cliff Young showed up. At first, no one cared about him since everybody thought he was there to watch the event. After all, he was 61 years old, showed up in overalls and galoshes over his work boots.

As Cliff walked up to the table to take his number, it became obvious to everybody he was going to run. He was going to join a group of 150 world-class athletes and run! During that time, these runners don’t even know another surprising fact – his only trainer was his 81-year-old mother, Neville Wran.

Everybody thought that it was a crazy publicity stunt. But the press was curious, so as he took his number 64 and moved into the pack of runners in their special, expensive racing outfit, the camera focused on him and reporters started to ask:

“Who are you and what are you doing?”

“I’m Cliff Young. I’m from a large ranch where we run sheep outside of Melbourne.”

They said, “You’re really going to run in this race?”

“Yeah,” Cliff nodded.

“Got any backers?”

“No.”

“Then you can’t run.”

“Yeah I can.” Cliff said. “See, I grew up on a farm where we couldn’t afford horses or four wheel drives, and the whole time I was growing up– until about four years ago when we finally made some money and got a four wheeler– whenever the storms would roll in, I’d have to go out and round up the sheep. We had 2,000 head, and we have 2,000 acres. Sometimes I would have to run those sheep for two or three days. It took a long time, but I’d catch them. I believe I can run this race; it’s only two more days. Five days. I’ve run sheep for three.”

When the marathon started, the pros left Cliff behind in his galoshes. The crowds smiled because he didn’t even run correctly. Instead of running, he appeared to run leisurely, shuffling like an amateur.

Now, the 61-year-old potato farmer from Beech Forest with no teeth had started the ultra-tough race with world-class athletes. All over Australia, people who watched the live telecast kept on praying that someone would stop this crazy old man from running because everyone believed he’ll die even before even getting halfway across Sydney.

Turtle vs rabbits
Every professional athletes knew for certain that it took about 7 days to finish this race, and that in order to compete, you would need to run 18 hours and sleep 6 hours. The thing is, old Cliff Young did not know that!

When the morning news of the race was aired, people were in for another big surprise. Cliff was still in the race and had jogged all night down to a city called Mittagong.

Apparently, Cliff did not stop after the first day. Although he was still far behind the world-class athletes, he kept on running. He even had the time to wave to spectators who watched the event by the highways.

When he got to a town called Albury he was asked about his tactics for the rest of the race. He said he would run through to the finish, and he did.

He kept running. Every night he got just a little bit closer to the leading pack. By the last night, he passed all of the world-class athletes. By the last day, he was way in front of them. Not only did he run the Melbourne to Sydney race at age 61, without dying; he won first place, breaking the race record by 9 hours and became a national hero! The nation fell in love with the 61-year-old potato farmer who came out of nowhere to defeat the world’s best long distance runners.

He finished the 875-kilometre race in 5 days, 15 hours and 4 minutes. Not knowing that he was supposed to sleep during the race, he said when running throughout the race, he imagined that he was chasing sheep and trying to outrun a storm.

When Cliff was awarded the first prize of $10,000, he said he did not know there was a prize and insisted that he had not entered for the money. He said, “There’re five other runners still out there doing it tougher than me,” and he gave them $2,000 each. He did not keep a single cent for himself. That act endeared him to all of Australia. Cliff was a humble, average man, who undertook an extraordinary feat and became a national sensation. Now, for Sydney to Melbourne race, almost nobody sleeps. To win that race, you have to run like Cliff Young did, you have to run all night as well as all day.

Okay, if that's the way you see it (and feel it).
As for me, there is a Special Creature wanting to emerge. Now to
have the courage to let him come out.....WY
P.S. The 'secret' is Self-confidence, and how to attain it.

Your Purpose now is probably your family. Someday
the time will come for another Purpose.
My time has come now. There's a quote about "Take one step in
the right direction, and God will take two more for you". I'm
about to take a step.....WY
P.S. This is doing wonders for me.

The long list is the problem for me. For
you it may be the Purpose. You're probably with Katz,
in that family is most important now. I have no family,
so a unique opportunity has presented itself to me....
and that is to become Me.....WY

You don't sound sure. I remember a dialogue between
a young man and a veteran Evangelist (R.W. Schambach)...
Young man................"I think I'm called to be a Preacher."
Brother Schambach...."I don't think so."
In other words, your Purpose must 'burn' inside of you. Otherwise,
we're all just drifting without Purpose.

organized Religion, or Faith. However, I do like good Preaching.

'Don't know' and 'not sure' are very Zen responses... don't you know? (I'm sure of that.) ;-) I'll admit my poor beleaguered little ego-self wants to batten down all the hatches, nail all the doors shut, get all the questions answered in the most absolute way. But my better self is a wide-eyed little child who is always asking "Why" and saying "I don't know" or "I wonder...." while she scans the horizon for new ways to perceive the meaning and changeable nature of life. I don't want to get tied down to a pronouncement about how things are--- undoubtedly it'd be all wrong anyway. I'd rather preserve the magic.

As for "burning convictions," I'm wary of them, especially in connection with religion and spirituality. I've seen so many people go on crusades of one sort or another and do terrible things that they were sure they were 'called' to do. I'd rather go with the energy of Love and let it move me gently where It will.

I did this for a Tony Robbins exercise but I forgot what I said.

I guess I don't like putting myself in a box with a label slapped on it.

I'd say to feel good (physically, emotionally, mentally) & to be a good father are the main two.

Feel good is tricky of course, often when I juice everyday & exercise for example I feel alot of pent of pain, sadness & anger bubbling out but, even though it hurts it feels alive & real too. So I'll take that bittersweet "goodness" over numbness (which might feel "ok" but definitely doesn't feel good).

Nothing wrong with that. If you were the Buddha,
you'd leave your family to go into a forest, and meditate
for the rest of your life. But how did he justify it in his
own mind?
I bet you're a good Dad.....WY

it's a funny thing how your priorities change when you become a parent. I never knew, though I thought I did, I didn't understand until it was actually happening to me. It's weird, it's not like I "gave up" stuff I wanted, it's that the stuff I wanted changed... Inexplicable, really. All the "purpose" talk, it just doesn't seem like such a pressing question to me anymore. I have this thing to do and I just... do it. I care for them, my every waking thought is for them, it's all about them. Even taking time for myself, to fulfil and replenish, even that is all about them in some way. Fuel myself and keep myself healthy and energetic for them. Whatever I do, they are there in some part of my mind, my focus is always, always on them in some capacity. Not grudgingly, never, don't get that idea. Always willingly, always with love, always gladly. Maybe that's my purpose. And you know what? That's enough.

Well put! >misty eyes, tears...<

I have had a couple of near death experiences, where I was just moments from "crossing over", from "here to there", and I sometimes wonder "why me?" Why was I permitted to remain here? What is my purpose/destiny? Looking into the eyes of my little guy makes it evident enough, though. I know why...

The thought of the "empty nest" absolutely terrifies me. Well, not really terrify, but it does bring a great heaviness to my heart. Not something I am looking forward to.

I don't know 100% solution. I've done many steps to achieve this. Went vegetarian 5 years ago, quit smoking 3 years ago, quit drinking alcohol 1.5 years ago, switched to raw vegan diet 5 months ago. And I still on my way winking smiley Not sure what habit to cut off next winking smiley

At this point,at 45,I seem to be here to dodge everything that life can throw you,or hole you can dig yourself, and climb out of............
To return back to how I actually lived in my youth that had amazing moments of peace and purpose.I was "home" and didnt even know it.I had very little to do with the world. No relationship,or anything getting all caught up in the rat race, and was for the most part at peace. The only thing that disturbed that peace was media influence saying you had to have such and such.....a great job, money, big house, wife and kids.......on and on.

Its not that I am becoming a recluse again.
I just know I can fall back on seclusion and be ok with it.
Thats freedom.
