How often do you bathe/shower?
Posted by: banana who ()
Date: February 25, 2011 01:53AM

Is it just expected to bathe every day, even in the winter? I will do so in the summer because it gets very humid and I feel all sweaty but at this time of year, it's not uncommon for me to go every other day w/o a shower. I have dry skin and don't sweat easily, so that's probably why. I just don't think it's bad if we don't shower seven days a week.

Twice a week or as needed. Kids aren't that dirty in the winter time, it all lands on their clothes winking smiley. I don't sweat much either and have dry skin and hair that doesn't love to be overly washed.
In summer we live in the lake. If we're in the city quick rinses are frequent but we don't use a lot of "stuff".
People are weird about washing off imagined dirt, there is a strange obsession with "freshness" that is misinterpreted as soaped, lotioned and perfumed to the max. A layer of actual grime would be healthier than that!

Great to hear that, Coco! Yes, I agree with you. I hear of people who shower twice a day or more--sounds extreme to say the least. Unless you sweat like crazy, I guess, which I don't.

That pisses me off actually. We are SO incredibly lucky to live in a country with ample clean water but it isn't endless and shouldn't be used so mindlessly. The people washing off their sidewalks with a hose in summer get to me the most. Use a BROOM you lazy water wasting maniacs! Sheesh.
All that soap and gunk washing down the drain too. Nuts.

Three or four times a week. I used to everyday (and sometimes twice a day) when I exercised everyday. But, every other day is enough for many people.

Sweat alone isn't the problem for the majority of people.

Raw fooders don't have the body odor that people who eat foods with preservatives, dyes and other additives have. They need baths to get rid of the smells that their bodies produce when removing those impurities.

For me...

In winter I sometimes go three days before bathing.

In the summer it's usually every other day, unless dirty and then as needed.

I can go weeks without a shower. I like to roadtrip and camp so I have gotten out of the habit of showering daily. What I mean is... I don't feel "icky" when I haven't showered so it isn't on my priority list sometimes. Especially when I am on an adventure. I haven't shampooed my hair in forever (a year?) and I love the softness of it, not greasy at all. I don't use deodorant because I don't stink anymore. So... unless I am 'dirty' or sweaty, I don't worry about showering. I do love showers though... ahhhhh... who doesn't love getting fresh and clean? winking smiley And I am well mannered when it comes to washing my hands throughout the day.

And if you are wondering... yes, I am currently single. I would probably shower frequently if I had a mate to impress. LOL

Ditto rocketship. I could go for ages without a proper shower or soak if on an adventure, camping etc. Not if I was getting frisky with a partner, I think I'd want to at least rinse every day. I did have a boyfriend who never wanted me to use soap though, or shave, ha! A real nature boy that one.

About the same for me, except for the summer, it's every day depending on how hot it is. I think there are dry people and there are oily people, and oily people need to shower every day, especially oily girls have to wash their hair because it's get oily looking if they skip a day.

Actually, if you have oily hair not using any shampoo ever can often be the cure for it. Shampooing tells your scalp it's not making enough oil so it makes more and then you have to wash it more often which tells the scalp it's not making enough oil so it makes more and so on... It can take a few weeks to stabilize but I hear great things from formerly oil girls who give it a go winking smiley.

I take a shower every day, unless I'm camping (in which case I jump in the ocean a few times a day) or going to the gym (in which case I get an extra shower in sometimes). Once in awhile I'll take a bath instead of a shower, especially in the winter.

i'd live in it if it was reasonable. I have what one may call a water fetish. I like it when it rains down on me and its hot. Seriously. That's probably not the best thing for being efficient. Guilty.

I love that feeling too.
Being caught in an afternoon rain on a hot summer day.
Feels like being in a sauna.

oh god yeah, I remember one time I was up in grants pass oregon, and it gets really hot there at times, and it was 108 in the shade, even hotter on the black top to where my shoes would stick if I stayed in one place to long...and a storm rolled in...it felt awesome...only time Ive ever experienced anything like that, but the intense heat still coming off the pavement, and the warm rain, it was like all the muscles in my body let loose at once, so relaxing!!!

Oh yes Ver, he used to get so mad because I hardly smell at all even when I get sweaty. If I ever ate something pungent and did some sort of sweat inducing activity he would find me and drag me off to the bedroom IMMEDIATELY! lol, because even if I did get a bit funky it would evaporate and wear off so there was no odour left. Seriously, I could just never wash, I just don't smell like a thing. That boyfriend was a kooky guy, lots of fun that one. Gave me a wonderful little daughter too winking smiley.

my technique is about as good as it gets

i've been practicing for many years

every single day

but i suppose there's always room for improvement

maybe i'll make a video

and seek consultation from the internet

actually i probably won't do that

-------------

one time i was driving around lake tahoe and there was a fire

and i had to turn around, and take the long way around the lake

and i had to stop and do my business in the woods

and i wiped my bum with a sock

just felt to share that

im versatile like that
