How many places have you lived at (in?) in your life?

Date: August 26, 2011 11:45PM I know that for some, age is a touchy matter but it would also help to know how old you are.
Me? I am 45 and have lived six places. The two longest were from about ages 5-18 and then 25-43. I think my number is on the low side for someone my age. I have also lived in the same general area for all these years. Never felt the urge to leave (well, at times but never intensely so). Re: How many places have you lived at (in?) in your life?

Date: August 26, 2011 11:48PM I should add that the reason I am asking this is that I was on the bus today and passed near my childhood home and it's like being a visitor to my own life because I haven't lived there in so long. And even the last apt. I lived in, for over 17 years(!), when I occasionally go past it, it's almost like it never happened. Because the past is so elusive--we can never go back... Date: August 27, 2011 01:21AM Seeing places I have lived always brings a flood of memories - pleasant and not so good. Right now I can count 42 different addresses where I have lived. There will be more soon. We've been renting a cabin, but will move to a garage apartment in a few months while an apartment at our business is being built. So that'll be at least two more places in the next 12 months. And I wasn't an army brat. My parents moved to larger or smaller houses depending on their income. I got used to moving and even like it, whereas my sister only moved twice after gtting married. Sge is quite proud of staying in one place. For mr it would be so boring!
As to age, I'm 56 and proud of it. I look younger than my age and don't like when people give a negative reaction (ageism) when I tell them how old I am, but I answer anyway and smile. My hisband and I have promised each other to live to be over 100, so we have a lot of great years to go!

How come, Tam? Just for a change or do you not like the area anymore? Wow, one place! I could see that, though. I feel like I am different than most in living in the general vicinity of my childhood home. But it looks like most of those responding (except Trive!) have been on the low end in terms of moving. It's funny--I like change in my small stuff but I find that moving is a drag. So I have rarely done it! I think, Trive, that it would be cool to be a gypsy like you. I am laughing so hard--you're like a one-woman road atlas of southern British Columbia! banana who, I would like to move to a smaller place, now that it's just me, but with a bit more land to have a garden. Presently, I'm in a lovely, bucolic, small, neighborly subdivision bordered by a church property and a river. It's mostly quiet and safe with lots of trees and widlife, and amenities nearby. But since my dog died last summer, I've gradually come to realize I really don't need a three bedroom ranch house with a Florida room! It's the perfect house for a young family with pets. Therefore, I am seriously considering a move into the city in the next year--it would still be "home," but in a way that makes more sense to my life at present Re: How many places have you lived at (in?) in your life?

Date: August 27, 2011 04:57PM Jodi, I am speechless! You are the expert on BC! I have heard how beautiful it is. I even looked on Craigslist to see what rents go in Vancouver. Pretty steep but maybe in smaller towns it's more reasonable.
Coco, I thought of you when I created this thread. I remember you saying you were looking for a place with like-minded people. Where you are now sounds wonderful and quiet. Or maybe the cities in Canada aren't as hyper as in America. Re: How many places have you lived at (in?) in your life?

Date: August 27, 2011 05:34PM We're housesitting a farm with chickens and horses right now, it's on a quiet county road between a small town and our cottage on Lake Erie. It's pretty wonderful. Lots of work to clean up after and feed everyone and getting around without a car is interesting too but we're really loving it, the kids especially. We can bike to either place in about 20-30 mins and the weather has been so gorgeous, not too hot but sunny every day. Lightening struck just outside the house our first night though, fried the laundry line and knocked out the power. Pretty freaky!
No idea where to next or when but we're just being in the now for now, lol! Vancouver is the most expensive city in Canada right now, Toronto next. Busy places, both, too hectic for me! Re: How many places have you lived at (in?) in your life?

I have to really think. I am 45, I have lived in(not in order that would fill up more space, as I have come back and forth to some places) Tampa Florida Alexandria, Virginia Washington D.C. Anchorage, Ak Clark Air force base, philippines,(no longer an airbase so I have heard) Song tan, South Korea, San Francisco,CA, Walnut creek California, Pittsburg, CA, Dublin, CA, Nutley, New Jersey, South Naknek, Alaska, Ester Island, Prince william sound, Alaska, Bellingham, Washington, San Juan Island, Prince William Sound, Alaska Corvallis, Oregon, Fairbanks, Alaska North Pole, Alaska Nome, Alaska Of all the places I have been, I think San Francisco is the most beautiful place on earth, the cool fog and weather, beautiful buildings, and also the people. Next to that I would say Prince William sound is next beautiful. If you like nature, and woods, and quiet, that is the place to be. Re: How many places have you lived at (in?) in your life?

What is amazing is that I met someone when I was in California. She was a thirty something and had never been outside of California. Its a big state, with a lot of big cities and diversity, so its probably not that limited. She also said there was everything there. Mountains, beach, desert, cities, forest, lakes, glaciers.
