Date: January 04, 2015 07:32PM Those figures were mostly bought with 20 piece whalebone/metal corsets. It often took two people to stuff someone into them.
The birds who grew the hat feathers were often killed for them and many hatters went mad from mercury fumes off gassed from the felting process. Yes. I could go on but won't. Enjoy. Re: Amazing Photos of another time

Date: January 05, 2015 05:55AM Those figures were totally doable without corsets.
I had a 22" waist for most of my life. Then came the menopause--now it is 25". I could regain the youthful measure with a corset or something but I do not care enough to torture myself. What I have now is not perfect but darned near it for my age group. I still enjoy the pictures. Re: Amazing Photos of another time
