I have not tried raw peanuts. Something inside me tells me I dont need to venture in that direction. Do any of you use raw peanuts, or know any nutritional facts on it?

Peace

they are legumes, not really nuts. they taste pretty bad raw actually, kinda like eating a raw bean off the vine. starchy and none too delicious. most peanuts are cooked in some way even if they are labelled raw. i think "raw" in that case just means not roasted.

I grow mine, and eat them fresh. They taste good, not starchy at all.
Maybe the ones you get in stores are too old and get rancid.

Thanks everyone. Wow, lots of nutritional contents in peanuts; but I will stick with my instinct to abstain on this one. Perhaps if I ever get the opportunity to have a fresh one, I'll try it.

Blessed!

Boiled peanuts are one of our cooked snacks. When I was researching how to boil them I read they are healthier boiled than they are raw.

I got a bag of raw peanuts and they were okay. They didn't taste like peanuts to me though, more like peas. If they were cheap, I'd probably buy them again, but they're pretty expensive so I won't be getting them again any time soon as I think there are a lot better things I can get for my money.

They don't digest well for me. They also have a high level of aflatoxin, a carcinogenic mold.

The aflatoxin only develops on the peanuts over time. It's a mold that develops when they are stored for a long time. So the ones you can get in store may have some if they are not fresh. But if you get fresh one off the ground, they don't. You just have to get fresh stuff, and not long stored ones. Just like for veggies and fruits.

I like to soak them for a day (rinsing every 6-8 hours), peel them and throw them in raw pad thai (a la Gabriel Cousens) or just eat them. They taste different than cooked or unsprouted and don't have that weird "raw peanut" texture. I want to try tossing them in some spice blend next!
