green juicing question

Date: October 17, 2008 03:29PM I have a vitamix and a Jack Lalanne juicer. Last time I tried to juice greens in the JL, the pulp was still pretty wet (I even saw some nearly whole leaves that looked crimped and obviousy hadn't gone through properly) and I didn't get a whole lot of juice. When I "juice" in the vitamix, I put about a cup of water in for ease of blending purposes. Then I strain the juice and pour it into mason jars for consumption. I can usually get a good amount of juice with vitamix, but I know at least 8 oz was from the water I added. What's better--the JL juicer for more 'pure' green juice or sticking with the diluted green juice from the vitamix? If I had the money to buy something like a Greenstar, I would...but I have to work with what I have. Re: green juicing question

------------------------------------------------------- > I have a vitamix and a Jack Lalanne juicer. Neither one will juice Greens. You have the best appliance there is in your Vita-Mix. Learn how to make Green Smoothies with it. If you want to juice greens, a single-auger (or twin-gear) juicer is best. ....WY Re: green juicing question

Date: October 18, 2008 05:26AM I don't know what it is, but I don't like green smoothies one bit--I only enjoy fruit based smoothies. I only like what's left of the greens after blending and straining...which I thought was juice. What am I drinking if it's not categorically juice? (Just curious) Re: green juicing question

What am I drinking if it's not > categorically juice? If blending with your Vita-Mix, then straining the pulp, then drinking what's left serves you, then what you're doing is fine. I remember Blind Guru having a clip on YouTube showing that very same thing. I still think you'd be better served by putting a little fruit in with the Greens and drinking the whole thing without straining......WY Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
