Date: September 08, 2010 08:42PM Hey everyone, i say sport but what i mean also is what is everyones preferred fitness tool some prefer swimming, running, cycling etc i was just wondering what everyone is into fitness wise here.
For me ive always been into martial arts since a kid, but as a grew i got into boxing then muay thai which is my main sport/art. I love high intensity cardio it has been proven to be better for cardiac health, fitness levels and weight loss over endurance based sports/fitness. Not that im against endurance fitness just that its not as good as the high intensity. I could never get into swimming really, i can swim just i dont find it that fun really. I like to hit the weights also but they have always been secondary to my thai boxing. So whats everyone else into fitness wise, its great to have a variety it gets boring doing the same fitness choice daily which can put alot off. I also like rebounding for moving the lymph i could sit and bounce all day if i could lol. Cheers Re: Whats your sport/fitness choice?

Date: September 09, 2010 12:47AM I try to do yoga 5 days/week. Also alternate days between running and a cardio routine with weights. My favorite thing to do just for fun is hiking. I like swimming too. Re: Whats your sport/fitness choice?

Date: September 09, 2010 12:58AM Definitely hiking, preferably for days at a time but barring that walking will do the trick. I'm not a runner. I also have a workout dvd that doesn't make me do any fancy dance moves (i'm terribly uncoordinated) which helps when I am stuck inside. Re: Whats your sport/fitness choice?

Hey la_veronique, from what i know of tony jaa he has a few influences such as some taekwondo which is shown in his flashy type kicking, but he has also said to have studied some muay thai but mostly another thai art known as muay boran(which is abit different). Ill try find a link of some muay thai stuff. Re: Whats your sport/fitness choice?

I saw 'meditation' listed as a weight management tool in some magazine. The yoga manual I checked out from the library said to meditate if you didn't have time to do the poses. I don't imagine it will ever be an olympic event, but I would count it as 'fitness'. Re: Whats your sport/fitness choice?

Date: September 12, 2010 03:39PM I wouldnt say meditation is a fitness tool as it doesnt increase physical fitness in any way.
But it is a great relaxation and de-stressing tool. I usually meditate in my FAR infrared sauna with some peaceful chinese tai chi type music. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 09/12/2010 03:40PM by powerlifer. Re: Whats your sport/fitness choice?

Date: September 12, 2010 05:17PM The state or condition of being fit; suitability or appropriateness. Mentally it helps, physically probably not, thats agreed. It is interesting that someone claimed it did something for weight management. Probably because it destresses, or gives someone something else to do than eat! Re: Whats your sport/fitness choice?

Actually, I was born with an unusually flexible spine. Now, my hips are another matter... really need to work to open them up. Re: Whats your sport/fitness choice?
