cut the cocaco and add a few chia seeds. You sound a bit wired in your posts lately the chia seeds are much more calming and will give you a even endurance. It would be much better for your body.

Chia is the seed of a Salvia herb.

[en.wikipedia.org]

It's a seed, not a grain or pseudo grain.
Also, it contains no gluten, in case that's of interest in this context.

Rawrnr

I regularly run half marathon distance on 2 bananas for breakfast. I find that i do not need any fuel while i am running this distance - i only start to top up on route when i go over the 2, 2and half hour mark.

I eat mainly only fruit and veg - no grains or sprouts, very very few nuts often weeks without them. My intense love of avocados stops me managing only 10% fat but while i am putting in all these miles i don't mind too much. I think the lower fat thing will happen in time. It is particularly difficult in England in the winter as the fruit is so bad.

I use to be an avid runner, I competed in 3 marathons
and 2 half-marathons in Salt Lake City. In a week
I'd run 30-37 miles depending on the route &
difficulty.
It started to take it's toll on me, even after being
raw for almost 9 years (9th year in April). I gave
up running because it was too hard on my knees (especially
my right knee). It was really hard to give up
something I loved to do.
So now I'm an 365 a year bike rider (love my GT,
Cannondale, & Old Blue Trek).
In 2008 I put in over 11,780 miles...

So I should have gone to bike riding sooner as I
know I could have competed but in the end I
love to ride and explore the outside world everytime
I do it...

Ran 26k today in MINUS 19 degree weather!!
NUTS!!
It's really something I would NOT do alone!!

I am really slacking on the running though...only run with my group, 2 times a week...I have no motivation to run in this Toronto weather!!
I do SPIN and weight train 2 times a week too...
Once it warms up I will be out there more...

I made 7 soaked dates with raw cacao to bring along!!
MINUS the banana!
It was great!!

I drink a few swigs every 5K.
I always have a BIG kick toward the last 4-5K!
LUV it!

My inner ankle and Knee were hurting, but I struggled through and did not stop!

I am hoping that other runners share what they use for fuel on LONG runs....

Off to the last of my DURIAN waiting for me downstairs!!

I am attempting to go 801010 TOMORROW!!!

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's some inspiration for my raw runner friends:

My husband has been blind (he has retinitis pigmentosa) for almost 30 years, but in the 1980s and 1990s when he still had the tiniest bit of sight left (he had tunnel vision and could see through a tiny 'pin-hole' of visual field) he used to go out every day by himself to run, and using his cane he'd run 8 miles every morning, regardless of rain, snow or cold, around the river. When the Boston Marathon or the Peace Marathon was approaching, he'd run 13 or 20 miles on weekends. When I met him, I ran with him some of the time and other times I followed on my bike.

He doesn't run as much now -- he uses the treadmill at the gym -- but he still has amazing chiseled, strong 'ironman' legs.

Kwan that is awesome..there are really great stories behind most runners...

I did 30K today, had the 2 heaping TBS of cacao with 10 soaked dates and 3 stalks of celery..

IT WAS AWESOME!!

That is IT! I have found my RUNNING DRINK!

Still gotta work on speed, it's been over a year....
30K - 3:15....
I used to run marathons in 3:45-3:55...

Next marathon will be MAY 10th...I believe..mothers day..it will be my first ALL RAW since December Marathon!!

Anyone out there running the Mississauga Marathon in Ontario Canada?
It is the fastest growing Marathon in NOrth AMerica...really a beautiful course...down RICH neighbourhoods!
Beautiful houses...right to Lake ONtario and ending at a Marina!
What more can u ask for....?

You guys are a great inspiration! I haven't run outdoors in several years; maybe at some point I'll do it again. (I used to run around the Charles River, a gorgeous run with nice running paths.) I seem to do better on a track indoors; I like to listen to beautiful music on my old walkman and run around and around in circles; gets me into kind of a trance.

BTW, if you google 'Jonathan Backstrom + Boston Marathon' you'll find his First Place Finish in the Visually Impaired Division in 1988, the last year he ran the marathon. It's amazing what people can do. Yesterday some guys at the gym told him 'Man, you've got balls to come in here and work out the way you do without any sight.' I know what they mean, because yesterday he got a really awful black eye and cut when he went to the drinking fountain in the men's locker room and hit his face on the sharp edge of a hand dryer on the wall. It's always something, but he takes it all in stride.

Hi guys.

Thanks for your input and suggestions.
I have been developing and testing a raw sports gel.

I want to mention that I consume only water during low intensity workouts less than 90 minutes.
A half marathon is just a little more than that. So I like to consume some calories during a 21K run.

rawrnr, have you tried agave?

Hi flipperjan.

Thanks for your PM.
It sounds like you have been discovering what works well for you.
As long as your workouts are less than four hours, you are probably OK.
In case you have not done it yet, you might like to calculate your sweat rate at varying temperatures and intensity levels.

Keep experimenting.
I am still experimenting and tracking.
I have had success with various non-raw fomulae, but I am now developing raw formulae.

If you post a reply to this message and would like my feedback, it would be best to send me a private message to that effect. Otherwise, I may not check this thread for a while.
