Peruvian Olives
Posted by: Wheatgrass Yogi ()

After being out-of-stock for some time now, Peruvian
Olives are back. They're sun-dried, with nothing added.....something
you can't find with any other Olive.
RawGuru had the best price from the quick check I did with Google. He
beat David Wolfe's price by $3.00/jar. I ordered 3 jars.
Just thought someone might be interested. I have a couple of Olives,
when available, in my afternoon Green Smoothie.....WY

I love olives, I think I may be an addict. I know they're loaded with sodium, but still I eat 25-30 of them a day. I'm actually a little embarrassed by that fact. I'm trying to cut back on my goofy olive benders, but I still keep buying them and eating them, buying them, eating them, and buying them again. Confessing to you now, when I think about olives, my mouth waters. It must be the salt and the fat and the lusciousness. I can quit olives, I can, or cut back, I can, it's just that I don't want to quit eating olives, I don't want to quit. They're quite damned good, damn it, damn the little bastards.

shane! Your post made me laugh so hard! Goofy olive benders, ha-ha! I went to the Arabic import store the other day. He had a new batch of naturally sea-salt-cured Moroccan olives--yummy!

I don't think I've ever eaten an olive. I'm afraid that they will taste icky. One day I'm going to get the courage to try one.

I've made it through two harrowing days without the love of olives. Praise me.

These are the best olives I've ever tasted...EVER!!! Really reasonably priced too, especially if you buy a few jars at a time. They also carry unsalted, which I've never tasted.

I got my order of Peruvian Olives from
RawGuru (not to be confused with BlindGuru, or Raw-
Sammy). They're kind of bitter right out of the jar
(I ate 3 this way), but very 'meaty' (if I can use
that word here). I like the fact that nothing is added.
RawGuru has an interesting website...check it out. He's
been around for a couple of years, but is still very
young (I'm guessing 20)....WY

Debbie - are these affordable for people on very restricted budgets?

They are more expensive than non-raw olives, so if someone can only afford to buy bare essentials, then probably no.

Depends...if someone can afford to buy a watermelon (at current prices), they can probably afford to buy olives. And the olives will last longer.

Aren't your Olives cured with Sea Salt? We should
all be concerned with Fluid Retention....WY

WY

The olives I have been eating recently are uncured (not salted). More about it in the article.

And just to clarify, as you said 'your olives', I'm not selling olives. It's simply an article I've written about them. It does also give details of where people can buy raw olives (cured and uncured).

I reread your article more closely and think I
have it now. See if I have it right. The uncured Greek Olives
you're eating now can't be ordered online. The uncured Peruvian
Olives you listed are the same ones I got at RawGuru.com, for
those of us in the States. They're also the ones you're eating,
but don't like as much as the Greek Olives.
By the way, that was a very nice article.....WY

You got it :-) At least I think the uncured Peruvians are the same as you have in the States. Have a feeling that they might be imported from Sunfood Nutrition. And thank you for kind comments about article.

The person who sent me the uncured Greek olives doesn't have any more right now. I SO miss them!

what is the difference between cured and uncured?

I thought all olives were bitter unless treated or marinated.

Hi Cynthia

I think the article I linked to above should answer your questions. (And, in brief, cured is salted, uncured is unsalted. No, all olives aren't bitter unless treated or marinated. They are often delicious, as long as ripe.)

olives... olives...everyone loves olives..... for all my life i have loathed olives..thinking something was wrong with me... simply because when asked i would say... "i don't like them" and others would say... "what is wrong with you?"

...and THEN... I went to Spain... I had a sun dried cured (I think) olive that my friend picked and made himself... "OH WOW?" I said... "that isn't disgusting!" I said... my friend was kind and didn't take offense... "It's actually quite good!" He just smiled... and from then on I coudn't get enough... "I'm craving olives!" I said to another friend... "So!" He said... "I don't like olives!" I said... ...everywhere i went i sought them out and ate them up...

THEN I returned to the states... quite proud of my new found love... and the perplexed looks on friends and relatives faces when they said... "but you don't like olives..."... "I do now..." I said "I've been to Spain and had good olives..." So for the first few months i was back i ate them like crazy... but slowly my dislike for them returned... I no longer crave them...in fact even the thought of the taste doesn't sound so good to me... i suppose it was like one of those love affairs that is amazing while it lasts but just isn't meant to be for long... or maybe I need to go back to Spain!!!

love laugh and dream

Every day is a new start. Die to your
old way every morning. Carry it well into the day.
Before you know it you're into the next day.
I think Peanuts are in the Legume Family. Best
to stay away, but others can give better advice
than I.....WY
