The Evils of Coffee
Posted by: wendysmiling ()

Thoughout my health journey there is one thing I continued to enjoy...my morning cup of coffee (sometimes two).

Last Monday (May 4th) I had my coffee in hand walking to a meeting at work. I tripped and fell in the hallway....concrete floor covered with indoor-outdoor carpet.

The mug fell and broke. I fell on top of the mug. The inside of my right wrist has a 3 inch gash. It took 18 stiches inside and out. Lucking I have no tendon injury although the tendons were visible at the time of the accident. I also have a bad knee contusion and strained ribs.

Ya know... I just haven't had an urge for coffee since Monday! LOL

I have been off of the coffee for about a month now. I struggled with quitting the coffee. I finally don't like it. It was hard to quit though.
I hope you are feeling better though.

Yes, glad you're off the coffee.

People might be interested in a recent post on the Fresh Network blog, in which a UK Coffee Producers Association objected to Get Fresh! Magazine urging readers not to drink coffee. The association said, for example, that coffee in moderation (4-5 cups a day!) is safe.

In fact, even one cup a day has been shown to increase blood pressure.

If anyone would like to comment, here's the link:

everytime this thread goes back to the top, i start feeling nostalgic about coffee again. i have had a love-hate relationship with it for many years. i loved it, and it definitely did not love me. i've been off of it for 2 months now, except for a couple of times that i had just a few sips....just enough to remind me how awful it makes me feel after the initial rush is gone. ohhhh....what a drug that is...

I have heard that caffeine stresses the adrenal gland and can lead to adrenal exhaustion.

I quit drinking coffee years ago. My husband drinks about 3 cups a day though. He sends me articles about how healthy a few cups a day is.

Why is the information so contradictory? It is like the chocolate debate. We seem to have a love/hate relationship with them.

I am sure coffee is bad for me. I gave it up so slowly that I only drank it about once a month or so and it started making me feel very ill the day after drinking it. When I was pregnant and I gave it up abruptly, my eye twitched for about a week. That can't be good!!

Sorry about your injury, Wendy. It sounds like a very painful fall. If it makes you give up coffee, it might be one of the healthiest falls in history, LOL! Way to turn it around.

Someone I know is a heavy Coffee Drinker. He's always
telling me how good coffee is for you. He backs it up with
documentation. I go by Looks and Feel. It gave me the 'jitters', plus
I perspired after drinking it....a sign of Toxicity (the body trying
to cleanse).
By the way, this person is two years younger than I, but looks much
older. I practice the "Law of Allowing" with him by not nagging, but
rather focusing on his Good points...WY

It makes me perspire too, and gives me dry heaves. That sounds like rejection to me.
