Drinkware that doesn't taste like plastic or metal?

Looking for new mugs or tumblers that are usually used for coffee/tea. Other than Kleen Kanteen and glass ball jars, what else is there?

I was in Barnes and Noble today and was looking at the products in their cafe..so far it's the only store I've seen selling things like that without a "Made In China" label slapped on the bottom but I don't want to pay $25 for something if it still will taste like plastic/metal which is my problem with Chinese products.

Something like this -

I liked that one. Ceramic, Heavy, Insulated...but MadeInChina. sad smiley And in case you're working, yes I sometimes go through phases of drinking herbal teas..especially in this weather and I want something hot.

Do you know of a local potter? I'm lucky because my partner makes all our plates, mugs, bowls etc - they are gorgeous and individual. By buying locally from a studio potter you are buying something unique and helping a small, local business

Jgunn - you would only need to worry if it was very low fired such as raku or low fired earthenware. Glaze is made of the same stuff as glass. Stoneware is always fired very high - there is no risk at all.
