I did originally install the phorum software and usually try to upgrade it
when there are problems such as this.

I do have limited resources, ie: time to deal with this siatution, as
honestly its not at the top of the list.

I would love if you could step forward to get this situation diagnosed, by
going to phorum.org and posting this situation to see if they could offer
a solution once the thread has many replies, can you forward it to me, and
then I can sit down and try to get it resolved, saving me some time.

I'm going to work on this issue today and tomorrow, not being much of a computer saavy fellow. But I miss the capability. There are things I need to say or would in a PM I wouldn't say in main messaging. You may feel the same way. Wish me success. Best.

No luck, it's a memory issue for sure. here is what I got back, one response... one.

"I'm pretty sure that this error is not happening for all of you - or you've got a long userlist to be loaded.
If its not happening for all of you then that given user has many private messages and that makes the server run out of the allowed memory for php.
So, the easiest solution would be, to contact the isp / host to increase the memory limit for php."

Yeah I'm pretty sure it's happening to all of us. Am I wrong. Looks like intractable I will forward to John. maybe he can make it work.

Ahh yeah i thought it was a memory issue.

Its happening to everyone i think. It should be fairly simple to fix if someone can relay that to John. Simple 5 minute call to the hosting provider or if they have live chat which most big hosting companies now do, then should be easily fixable like i say.

To reduce the numbers of users (there were over 20 thousand before I started), I have been deleting users like crazy. Right now, the number of users is down to around 5000 users.

If a user has not been active in the last 1000 days (about 2.7 years), AND they posted less than 10 messages, I've deleted their accounts.

So right now, the PM function is working.

Well if you have 5K left, I would think so! When I was scrolling through all the accounts way back when, most are inactive. But it's up to you...
