I'd guess it could also be a detox symptom.

David Wolfe could be grey, bald, obese... doesnt matter. He is still a great man doing great work.

I owe him a great deal.

One thing about DW vs the other raw leaders ... He looks happy. The others, not so much.

Yeah...he's having a gay old time in the kitchen.

Note to the PC police: GAY used to mean happy before it was usurped.

Matt was militantly 100% raw for many years that I followed him. Then he did a complete about-face last year (?) and suddenly was Mister Tolerant of Raw-ishness. He even created videos with titles that suggested that people who eat cooked foods are HEALTHIER than raw foodies (a way to draw in viewers, of course--the devil's in the details). Others have suggested that Freelea and DR were the same way but at least they now openly eat cooked foods. MM is still claiming to be 99.999% raw. I believe him. I believe Angela. I just want to know why they flipped the script.

Does anyone know what his diet is these days?

I honestly have noticed Him and SHazzie when they started on their cacao thing, Not saying its cacao, I enjoy it once in a moonlight drumming party, but they were doing alot of it. ALOT...that there was a weight gain for both. Who knows.

I don't like talking bad about him. He inspired me so much back in the day when he was a pioneer. He sold his company and moved on to other things so I feel we all kind of lost touch with him. For someone so into superfoods and traveling the world to find all these powders and magic pills, you would think he would not go gray. Guess raw truly is law.

My sister is 7 years younger than me and all grey hair. I still have black hair. MY WHOLE HEAD. Ann Wigmore and Gabriel all have natural brown hair grown back too even at their late stages in life. RIP ANN.

Coconut Cream--great post! I just read DW's "Naked Chocolate" from the library. I guess Shazzie co-wrote it but the lingo sounds all DW. I had to laugh when there was a note before the text that stated it would use British spellings because both authors prefer it that way. Very quirky.

Excessive sun exposure will age your skin. Maybe that's it? And so will eating a high calorie diet. (he is on the heavy side). And about the Zinc deficiency that was mentioned: this can also do it... I just wrote about that recently actually. After looking at many raw food diets, it looks like people are getting low amounts of zinc, or only just meeting the RDA, and then getting very high levels of copper. So basically, because these two minerals compete for the same absorption site in the gut, you can get a secondary deficiency of either one if the ratio is way off. Good ratio to maintain is about 10:1 That means 10 mg zinc for every 1 mg of copper. Zinc/Copper balance is very important for superoxide dismutases... these are class of enzymes inside every cell that is involved in redox reactions of superoxides, a free radical that is damaging to the cells. So that would accelerate ageing by lowering the activity of the SOD1 gene.

And back to the calories thing. Over eating calories blocks the activity of genes that are protective against ageing. SIRT1 and AMPK sense the level of energy intake in the body and when there is lower amount of energy, the genes are activated and a cascade of effects happen: increased expression of FOXO3a gene which is linked to longevity in humans and animals. It basically controls a bunch of other genes that are involved in various things such as: DNA repair, autophagy, protein folding, immunity, antioxidant enzymes such as SOD1, Catalase and glutathione in the cells.

Anyway, it's all very complex. And I won't go into it here. Eat sensibly, live sensibly, and don't toast your skin. winking smiley

This is a nice forum! So glad I found it... I'm looking forward to some good conversations hehe.

Your damn right he's aging faster than he should...He has access to and is ingesting large ammounts of the finest tonic herbs on the planet and he should theoretically be immortal...

But then there's Doug Graham...

I wonder if Doug Graham blames his faster than the speed of light aging on the sun. Wouldn't put it past him. Being the health pioneer he is how could he be expected to know to protect his skin from the sun...

I know that his worshippers love to blame the sun on his aging.

Btw, l think David looks good for his age. He might be slightly flabby and have man boobs, but eating poor quality food can do that. winking smiley

And if the rumour is true that he eats chicken regularly, then l can see how it might contribute to the boobs because inorganic chicken can do that to some people (maybe organic chicken can do it too). How do l know? Because when l used to eat inorganic chicken l had man boobs like DW, but a week after going organic vegan they went away. This spoke volumes to me about the hormones in meat. An incredible transformation after 1 week! Wish l had taken photos at the time.

At least David still eats somewhat reasonable, certainly better than most people. Not everyone wants to eat the healthiest food...some get tired of it. Maybe David wants to have more fun LOL. He is a party man and a social animal, and it would be hard to eat really healthy when you live his lifestyle.

David is a mere mortal, and l am sure he does the best he can. He might be a rascal, but he comes across as a nice well meaning follow.

we could speculate about his looks by way of imagination or by way of his theories. In his book, The Sunfood Diet, he recommends a macro ratio similar to the SAD diet. And that is what he looks like too.
