la Veronique Basil before and after
Posted by: rawgosia ()

Hi! Do you remember her? This is her before (June 2007):

This is her after (or in between?):

I still don't know who she is, or whether any part of her may possibly be edible (as in fruitty). The mystery continues...

I think she's starting to look like some kind of bean plant. Maybe?

What's that next to her, a tomato plant?

Maybe this is a magic bean? Wy would it grow so slow? I estimate the age of the plant to be at least 9 months. The plant next to it looks like a (self-planted) tomato to me.

Instructions on how to take care of me:

water me
just about 1/4 cup of water per day

not too much sun
but not too little either

say good things to me
and sing lots of great song
and play stringed instruments over me

then i will grow taller

oh yeah
feed me some scraps
from your juice machine ( fibrous pulp like celery pulp parsley pulp... just sprinkle a bit over me...)

OK, I won't eat you. Leaves do not taste too good anyway (I tried one, sorry for this!). But, if you do bare some fruit, I may not be able to resist... OK, I will feed you better. No scraps from the juice machine, as the juce machine is in somewhere in the capboard. I might try some compost instead.

I am tempted to take you to the nursery again one day and see whether they can guess who you are. Until then I will pretend that you are a tropical fruit tree.

This isn't Ceylon Spinach / Malabar Spinach, is it? Looks somewhat similar. If you planted it from seed, then you could know if it's a legume or not. Whatever, don't eat our LAV!

my vote is that it's some sort of legume. I'm pretty sure it's not Malabar Spinach as I have that growing at my house...the stems don't seem as succulent.
