Date: August 12, 2008 04:05PM Hello,
I'm new to the raw diet...hoping to help with my fiance's chronic illness and I'm supporting him by doing it as well. I'd like to attempt to make almond milk...would a traditional strainer work for this or would that be a disaster? I'm having trouble finding nut milk bags locally. Any ideas? Thank you! Date: August 13, 2008 05:33PM For all smoothies and nut milks etc I use Vitamix. It is awesome. I know it is about $300, but it so worth it. I make almond milk for the kids almost every day and it comes out so creamy and smooth without any straining or nut milk bag. Just my thoughts.

Date: August 15, 2008 04:49PM I use 1 cup of soaked almonds to 3 cups of water. However, I've read that a 1:5 ratio also works. Re: Almond Milk help!

Date: August 20, 2008 09:24PM I use a clean piece of old sheet fabric draped over a strainer, dump the blended almond "smoothie"into the fabric, then pick it up and squeeze it out, holding the edges together. A little archaic, but works for me (1:4ish sprouted almonds to water). Re: Almond Milk help!

Date: August 30, 2008 05:07AM You don't have to strain your nutmilk, but if you want to... a nylon paint strainer bag you can get at the hardware store for about a dollar is pretty much identical to a $7-8 nut milk bag.
