i think smoothies, like jodi said, might be the way to go while you're in work - you could make up a few bottles/flasks in the morning (fruit/greens - go for sweet fruit for energy - eg banana/spinach etc) and just have a drink whenever you get hungry. that way you don't draw attention to yourself by seeming to eat all the time. I know you're not 'supposed' to eat melon with anything, but t

you're right coco. it sucks although I think there is a difference between being really near/on top of an electrical device and the general electrical smog that hangs around us.. would imagine the emfs are a lot higher. when I've checked with my meter it's generally really high within a few feet of stuff (eg washing machine, boiler etc) then goes right down once you move away a little.

That is great to know, thanks Frannie! I'm sure we will be going back, we both loved it so much I didn't do enough 'research' this time, only found the brill juice bar by chance on the last day - so I will definately look up your stall whenever I find myself back there

our bodies are generally much smarter than our minds :-D to get your mind to 'catch up' you could try techniques such as hypnotherapy or EFT. or of course meditation is wonderful. or you could 'kid' your mind by using transitional type foods such as fancy raw recipes, dehydrated stuff, etc. good luck

what great tips from everyone! i love the fruit tree idea lol. one thing I thought about though, re putting produce near/on the fridge - do you not worry about EMFs (electro magnetic frequencies) from the fridge? I try to keep stuff away from electrical devices - well, as much as i can manage, i know electricity is everywhere nowadays.. :-/

there seems to be 2 opinions in the raw food world: whether to go low or high glycemic - ie eat a diet high in fruit and low in fat (Doug Graham), or eat a diet low in fruit with (I guess) a little more fat, grains, and lots of sprouts (Gabriel Cousens, Brian Clements etc). The trouble is, deciding which camp you're gonna go with... both sides seem to have reasonable arguments and are determin

thanks for the responses guys. interesting. yes, it would make sense to just let it happen naturally... and it would logically suit an 8/1/1 type high fruit diet the best... would be nice to have a supply of good spring water... drinking that stuff really feels 'alive'...I found some at the top of a mountain in Glencoe a while back and drank some, tasted magical I just have filtered tap wa

i've been reading Quantum Eating by Tonya Zavasta and she recommends not drinking any water (ie getting your liquids from fruit and veggie juice)... seems an intriguing idea... anyone here do that?

I heard David Wolfe talking about a latte-type recipe, it really made me fancy one, he mentioned mesquite, lucuma, a touch of cacao.. but I didn't get the full recipe... anyone care to share their favourite latte-style recipes? Please..?

Hi Wendy you probably already do this, but I just wanted to mention green juices - cucumber/celery/kale/spinach etc, you'd only need to add an apple/maybe a couple of carrots to make it taste nice. Would get some good nutrition straight in there maybe add some superfoods, green powders etc. wish you the best in your recovery x

i've been making quinoa milk lately, it's soooo nice and easy, just blend the quinoa sprouts up with water, add a little sweetener of your choice, and maybe a little spice if you wish, and hey presto doesn't even need straining.

This is a great place for a rawbie to go on vacation, I think. Apart from being an absolutely beautiful city with something for everyone (quite literally, lol) everywhere is so health conscious, with plenty of veggie cafes with great salads etc. There's also a fantastic juice bar on Haarlemmerstraat 14, Jays Juices ,with lovely friendly service. Give it a try if you visit the area, it's not fa

hi! fruit combines well with green leafy veggies such as spinach, lettuce, celery, herbs etc. Not good with harder stuff, eg brocoli, cauli. don't bother figuring out % of raw food. just figure out % of how great you feel yeah, the comfort eating thing is really hard. just take it slow and don't beat yourself up if you fail. A nice mashed up avocado can be good comfort food... Co

maybe you could try adding a little sea salt to a glass of water and drinking it in the mornings? David Wolfe is very enthusiastic about this at the moment, keeps on about electrolytes etc... just a thought... I drink a glass of sole every morning. you could also make sure you're getting enough greens, in salads, smoothies, and juices.

hi it looks from your post as if you consider sweet potatoes and sprouted quinoa not raw..? Maybe I'm reading it wrong... cos you could eat raw sweet potato, grated/spiralised in salads, or juiced. Some folks use sprouted grains such as wheat, to add to salads, or make dehydrated bread and crackers etc.. raw sprouted oat groats are also a good filling source of low fat calories - but if you'r

hi re the above post, I just happened read that raw oats are high in B2, esp when sprouted - so if you're worried specifically about B2, might be worth trying.

wow, you might get hungry, all that time without much fruit, if I were you I'd try and take some if it's possible, or let them know about your diet so they can provide some for you. Dried fruit (you could soak it once you got there) and lara bars would be useful, but fresh would of course be better. have a great time

I read recently (think on this site) that they provide a lot of vitamin D - especially if you expose them (upside down) to sunshine.
