Hi all just a couple of points: firstly, re the comparison between computer science and biological science: I feel this isn't really a very useful analogy. Despite what biomedicine has tried to convince us for the past couple of hundred years, the human body is not a 'machine'. It is a living, breathing entity; affected not just by toxins and microbes but also by many diverse social fac

1. Why have you chosen to eat all/mostly raw foods? because I believe it to be the healthiest way to eat. By eating raw I have eliminated many illnesses that I suffered from whilst eating cooked foods. 2. How long have you been eating this way? Just over 3 years 3. Do you consider yourself to be part of the vegan culture, or something completely separate? Yes and no! part of the vega

ah, I'm glad this subject has come up as I wanted to ask something: for the people who make their kombucha at home, what do you do with your spare cultures? Any ideas? I give quite a few away, I've used it as a face mask (but it was a bit sticky/flaky), I used it in the bath (but it made a terrible mess)... does anyone actually consume the cultures? like in a smoothie or something? or is this

some people use raw sprouted oat groats, they find them quite filling in a carb kind of a way.

Hi Basia it's not so much the noise - it's really peaceful where I am - I think it's more just the change of scene for me. It takes me a while to get used to sleeping anywhere different. The other thing is the light - it gets light at about 3.30am, which wakes me up. It would be good if I could go to sleep earlier and get up earlier (I'd love to do that as I love the early mornings) but unfor

Basia: you inspired me! last night I slept outside! it was good, but I didn't really sleep much. If this warm spell continues I'll keep trying it and see if I get used to it and sleep better (-: I think I could do with a good quality bivouac. Maybe I'll check EBay. thanks for starting this thread sweetheart!

I'm in the UK Basia. It gets pretty damp and chilly around here at night, even in the summer. I slept outside while I was on holiday in Portugal last year, that was gorgeous. Do you find you still sleep deeply? I found I slept very lightly, so I didn't really feel very rested in the morning. But I was staying out realllly late as I was with some of my family who like to party when they're on

oh Basia you're so lucky to be able to do that! is it really hot where you are? I hope one day to live somewhere warm enough so that is possible. Sleeping out under the stars... oh bliss, who knows what fabulous journeys you are being taken on each night (-:

hee hee! I think everyone goes thru this! I find it's best just to treat it with good humour.. me and my sisters (they're not raw) think of it like a game, and we call it 'ASK LISA' - whenever anyone starts with 'The Questions' we all burst out laughing cos it's such a standing joke! all the questions are always the same, so much so that my sisters now answer on my behalf - they're getting rea

I would say you will know if you should be incorporating more fruit if you are getting cravings for sweet stuff. there are different opinions on fruit - some advocate a high fruit diet, others a low one. so I guess the best thing is to go with your own instincts... what you're doing already looks pretty good to me... I guess if if you're looking for advice I might say try to eat fresh juicy fru

bumpity-bump I'm also currently trying to remineralise, so the more discussion on this subject the better, I think! I'm using Uncle Harry's products, but it's too early to report any results yet. I'm also having a big green smoothie for brek, with plenty of wild greens from the garden - eg nettles are a good source of silicon, which is good for remineralisation. Also cucumbers are good. Unc

I haven't myself, but I have heard that Kombucha tea can produce amazing results. it's extremely cheap and easy to make. here are some details on it. also, it might be worth working with a raw food nutritionist. being high raw doesn't necessarily mean you are making all the right choices with your foods. your diet might just need a bit of tweaking..? best of luck x

try having a big green smoothie for brek, with a little fruit (eg 1/2 apples), cucumber, and lots of dark greens like kale etc. this can help with cravings, as it adds a lot of minerals to your intake.

hey Adrienne are you making sure you're eating enough? like, enough fats etc? plenty of avos, sprouted nuts/seeds, big green smoothies, lots of fresh fruit? bingeing can sometimes simply be your body saying 'give me food!' good luck x

yeah, some say vodka or wine etc could be classed as raw... but I don't need anyone to tell me whether it's good/bad for me... I just know how I used to feel the next morning, even after I'd had just 1 small glass of wine the night before... all icky and dehydrated. all those 'studies' that say a moderate amount of alcohol is beneficial... I just don't buy 'em! make yourself some kombuch

what are you eating? if you're just trying to survive on a bit of salad, then yes, you will feel dizzy/spacey. I get like that if I don't eat enough. I usually find a fruit/greens smoothie sorts me out in no time! I remember recently I just had a little bit of melon for breakfast, then later I was doing yoga, and I came in and had a really weird spell, just like you described.. I thought I

is that sweet jane? if so (or even if not!) HUGZZZZZZZZZ ((((XXX)))) hmmm all I can think is that it's a new moon later today... maybe that could help? Meditate on it... new beginnings... a fresh start... just take everything slowly, be gentle with yourself. Don't feel as if you have to plunge straight into 100% rawdom, just choose fresh fruits and veg whenever it feels good to do so.
