wow, kidraw, that must be a nightmare for you, I think if I paid attention to every negative story I heard about things that I was doing, then I wouldn't do anything at all! Reminds me of this quote I got emailed today from Abraham/Hicks: Your joy factor will remain constant as you are continually refining your ideas of what you want, and that's why it is so important for you to get everyb

Hiya I thought I'd post this here as I thought some of you lovely people might be experienced in sungazing and earthing. I love to sungaze, however it's sometimes hard to get an appropriate place where I can stand barefoot on the ground and earth myself. It just occurred to me that I have a perfect sungazing position if I stand upstairs in my house and look out of the open window at sunset

Yes, I've done it for years, I love it. I use sesame oil. I reckon coconut would be fine though, I've heard of a lot of folk using that. I try to do it for long enough that when I spit it out it is a little whitish, and not so oily (well-mixed in with saliva).

rzman10001, what I am saying is that milk kefir comes indirectly from an animal. The finished product is actually the result of bacterial action. But don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to 'prove'or justify anything, I'm just playing about with the semantics of it all. Could you answer me this then: is water kefir vegan? It is made by bacteria..they are living creatures.. one could argue tha

that's my point though banana who. how can you be sure of growing methods when you buy your fruit and veg? they look at me funny in restaurants already... I can imagine the looks if I start asking what type of fertiliser was used on my salad... lol

another question - could milk kefir be considered vegan? I ask this because when you think about it, by the time it's been processed through the bacteria, it's actually a different substance. It's a fermented culture. It's kefir, not milk. For example, when I drink water kefir, even though it's made with sugar, it doesn't mean I'm eating sugar; it's been chemically altered by the fermentation pr

haha, oh sorry Banana who! all this quoting has me confused! no, I really am serious about the kombucha, in fact even a company called 'Happy Kombucha' who sells the cultures says to treat them with respect as they are living organisms (although, as they are selling them for our use, what does that make them.. slave traders..? lol)

that looks cool! I often put jars of water with fruit or cucumber in and leave them on a sunny windowsill for a while, that works pretty well too

Yes, good point Wheatgrass Yogi, I wondered that too. I couldn't manage a gallon (although apparently it gets easier the longer you do it). Also I am taking into account my size - I'm pretty small / light, so I guess I wouldn't need so much. These days I don't feel much need to eat during the day - just one meal around 5 ish - I've just been drinking kombucha, kefir, fresh juices, herbal t

I used to have the view that distilled water can be demineralising to the body, but recently I saw this interview and it has really challenged my beliefs on that score. He talks about the health benefits of drinking a gallon of distilled water a day - which can also be in the form of fresh juice - or even urine. It's pretty controversial, but well worth a watch!

Hey Prana, I managed to get hold of the UK supplier that you mentioned a while back, he said they sell them but added this message: "We do not sell them as fit for consumption. However they are made in a food- grade facility and one or two customers do consume them, but we won't recommend it." What do you think - are these the type you are talking about? I'm guessing there's not

Thanks Prana, I remember you mentioning those SAM organisms before, they sound very cool, funny enough I was just thinking about that today. I'll have to get hunting for a good UK supplier, never had much luck before. So, does that mean, for instance, if I have kombucha in the morning, kefir in the afternoon and souerkrout for dinner they might compete with each other in my gut? It's all s

There's another question I keep wondering - is it ok to 'mix' your probiotics - like for instance if I fermented some veggies with some miso, a probiotic capsule, and some natto (just to give an example) - would they all 'live in harmony' in there, so to speak, or are there some that are more compatible than others?

I don't know about aroma kettles, but I recently got this water filter system: I love it. And it's portable so you could take it with you when you move.

This is great, thanks Panchito for sharing all that info! I agree with a lot of it, it echoes a lot of stuff I've read elsewhere, for instance the Gerald Judd book called good teeth birth to death; also Fred Patanaude's recent re-publishing of an old book with some good practical info about teeth. Also Nadine Artimis has a lot of good info about self dentristry. I haven't read Tonya Zavasta's

Yep it's amazing how various combination of baking soda, vinegar, coconut oil and essential oils can pretty much cover all toiletry and house-cleaning needs! I love to save up any citrus peels and fill up a jar, then fill that jar with distilled vinegar, then leave it for a couple of weeks, then strain it, you end up with a lovely smelling liquid that you can put in a spray bottle (dilute it a

Hi Prana, can I ask a question about making the airlock system for a mason jar. You say to use a mason jar with a plastic lid - is that essential? I can only find ones with metal lids. It's a shame, there's no perfect pickler jars available in the UK it seems Another question for anyone using a perfect pickler - is it easy to get the right size jar to go with it? (In case I just end up orde

I'd agree with the guys there - fresh is really the only way you can tell. If you're buying pre-packaged foods that are processed such as nut butters or flax crackers, or buying gourmet meals in raw restaurants, it's difficult to be sure that they're made with *really* raw ingredients. But I'm sure they'd be loads better than the normal processed foods you'd find in the shops. If you're transi

The Storm: Yes you could just make the green smoothie using rejulavac instead of water. But I have kefir ready to use, so I did it today like this: made a green smoothie as per usual, then added it to some water kefir that I'd prepared yesterday, and mixed it in. (I didn't blend up the kefir as I'm not sure how that would affect it - it's a living organism after all so I wouldn't think it would

I'm wondering now whether fermenting green veggie juice (ie leaving it in water kefir for a day) would negate the problem of nutrient loss if you don't drink it immediately.. hmmm.. I guess the ideal thing is to ferment the whole veggie - but I'm not as keen on sowerkraut and kimchi as I am on kefir.

Yes banana who, like powerlifer said, it's a tiny amount of alcohol. I don't drink alcohol as a rule, so I think I'd notice if it was alcoholic. (well, sometimes I ferment it for a bit longer and notice a little buzz off it.. lol.. but I generally drink it at home in the evenings, so it's fine) Hi Powerlifer, yes it tastes amazing, great to see you're selling kombucha now! I love kombucha,

I just came across something interesting. I was checking out high oxalic foods and ways to get around it (spinach and beets etc are so easy to grow in this (Scottish) climate; it seems a shame to limit consumption cos of the oxalic acid). Here's what I saw (from ) about how to reduce the oxalic acid: "A more effective strategy is to ferment foods high in oxalates. This is my favorite s

interesting points, thanks Brome! We get overrun with slugs here :/ Would be interesting to know what other greens they don't like to eat.. cos they seem to love everything I plant so far.. I was also wondering though about the nutritional value of it, if it isn't grown fresh in a tray (with fresh grains every time).

funny, I've been thinking about this lately. How fire was a new 'technology' when it was discovered, and how that really changed the way we eat, and how the argument is often put forward that cooking food helps us access more energy from it etc (ie, we haven't necessarily got time to sit about chewing lots of leaves etc)... And yet, now all these years into the future, we have new technology (eg

kefir (and kombucha) are my 2 favourite things at the moment, I make gallons of the stuff it's like fizzy pop (soda to Americans!) and once it's done you can flavour it however you want, with any type of fresh or frozen fruit. It's fantastic! If you're on Facebook there's a good support group, it's called 'I love water kefir', you can get lots of different recipes and advice there. My breakf

Hi folks I get a bit fed up with all the fuss of growing fresh wheatgrass in trays (new soil, new grains, etc), and was wondering if it would be an idea to grow it in a designated place in the garden, like how I grow my herbs. I've read in Kulvinskas' book that you get the major benefits from the 1st 2 cuts of wheatgrass, and after that you should start from scratch again, but I still can't h
