thanks Sproutarian Man, yeah I thought it might be that, the 'information highway' that is the internet can lead to just as much misinformation as it does good info. I want to tell people about this as it frustrates me to see all these 'experts' telling people that it's so great to add chia to everything. But I want to make sure I get my facts right before I do I just came across this artic

Since I read the info from Sproutarian Man about how important it is to soak/sprout chia and flax, I've become increasingly interested in how no one (even the 'raw gurus' lol) seems to worry about soaking chia. All these recipes just say to chuck it into smoothies etc - in fact I saw one website that was talking about the importance of soaking seeds, and it stated that there was no need to worry

Thanks Sproutarian Man. I really appreciate you taking the time to answer all the questions, it's really helpful! Those sprouted chia would make a handy 'wrap' to eat with salad, they're all so nicely stuck together! I usually soak my sesame seeds then blend them with some figs and add some kefir to ferment them into a kind of yoghurt-type thing. Lots of lovely calcium

hey sproutarian man, is it ok to eat the whole of chia sprouts - like, when I sprout them on a tray rather than soil, I've been just scraping them off and adding them to salads. Wondered if any anti-nutrients would still be hanging around..?

Yes, I was just thinking, that when people (cooked foodie people!) ask me for advice about eating healthier, one of the first things I recommend is a green smoothie for breakfast, and I think I would still do this, as it is so easily implemented (juicing requires such dedication!) and even with its flaws I'm sure it's still a lot healthier than their current breakfast (usually cereal / toast etc!

wow, thanks for all this info Sproutarian Man! Paradigm shifts all the way! I've heard the arguments against blending before but kind of ignored them in the past. Lately I've been making big batches of juice/smoothie mixtures - juicing veggies then adding them to the blender with easier digestible stuff like cucumbers and fruit... but maybe I'll go back to plain old juicing, and just eat the o

Great info, thanks Sproutarian Man! I guess grinding in smoothies helps with digestibility, but yeah that makes a lot of sense about the sprouting maximising the nutrition.

re the antinutrients - is it the same case with chia and flax? Cos I regularly add these to my kombucha (which I strain before drinking), and I don't soak them first. In fact most rawbies I know add chia straight into smoothies and puddings etc. Might this be a problem?

Thanks for the info guys, quite a revelation! Everyday's a schoolday huh? Banana who, great vid thanks! I do have a soft spot for the Monarchs, and I love that catchy little tune! So, if I were to do the rejuvelac the way Angela demonstrates, when would be the best time to add another ferment like water kefir? I'm guessing at the end of the process, just add the water kefir and wait a

Strange, in Kulvinskas' manual one of the methods he recommends uses the first soak water (after washing the grains first, obviously), he doesn't mention that it's necessary to discard the 1st soak water. I'll try your method though Common Sense Raw, thanks.

I make rejuvelac by soaking grains overnight then fermenting the soak water - from Brome's post above it sounds like this is not the way to do it? I'm pretty sure I read somewhere to do it like that. I also add another type of ferment like water kefir to it, like Prana said, to increase the odds in the good guys' favour I also love to add seeds like flax and chia to my Kombucha 2nd ferment, (

great thread! am loving Sunclouds points too, very interesting! I like the idea of chewing everything as it makes sense that the interactions between the food / teeth / mouth etc would be important. Practically speaking though, I don't think I would eat anywhere near as much greens if I didn't juice & blend them. I don't mind chowing down on fruit, or veggies like cucumber, but dandelion.

I've been wandering lately about acid / alkaline foods and drinks, and I can't really get my head around it. I've been drinking a fair amount of kombucha lately, which generally has a pH of around 4 (even though I 2nd ferment it with fruit/green leafy veg), so it is pretty acidic. Meanwhile, my urine is generally around neutral. Which makes me wonder, what happens for that to occur.. is calciu

thanks kratom712, yes I have a grounding sheet on my bed, it's great. We're having some nice warm weather here at the moment too, it's such a lovely feeling to be able to pad about the garden barefoot.

Thank you Prana, yes very good points. I do love yoga (I'm a qualified teacher) and have a daily personal practice; I'm sure it helps a lot. I do notice a bit more crunchiness after I've been working on the computer a lot; I need to remember to take breaks and stretch. I've had the 'clickiness' since I was a kid though, the chiropractor seems to think it's related to hypermobility.

Thanks Sproutarian Man, yeah I always come back to the feeling that it's, 'best to get it from real food'... when I look at the ingredients on the supplements I can't help thinking all that stuff would unbalance the body somehow... I've been starting to sprout a lot more lately (inspired by your posts!), it's so much easier to do it on cloth rather than using trays of soil... plus it's warmer

I visited a chiropractor today (I have quite 'clicky' joints and my neck's a bit crunchy sometimes, so I wanted to get checked out) and she was recommending a B complex supplement. I have lot of fermented foods, so I would have thought I'm covered on B vits (apart from B12 I guess)... I always prefer to get my nutrients from food rather than supplements, but I'm open to ideas... I would apprecia

this is fascinating info, thanks Sproutarian Man. I have a question please! what do you think of the way some people avoid having to juice, by blending greens with a vitamix then straining through a nut milk bag? Is this just as optimal a way of getting juice? oh, and another - do you ever ferment your greens using kefir or kombucha? I do this with most of my fermented drinks.

hey little mermaid, big respect for managing to put on makeup while oil-pulling!! But I just wanted to mention, did you know that you're supposed to oil pull before eating or drinking anything in the morning (even water)? There might be a reason you do it the way you do, but I thought I'd mention it all the same

I always do Yoga first thing, it really 'fits' mornings I think. I also do facercise, and some Taoist exercises. Then I oil swish, and, when I remember, skin brush

Hi Jazzy, are you drinking anything? you don't seem to mention any liquids. I often 'forget' to eat - I start to notice myself feeling colder, which sometimes happens if I've let myself go too long without food. I don't generally eat till later in the day anyways, and this works for me, but I do ensure I DRINK a lot. Not just plain water either; I'll drink fermented drinks like kombucha and k

Hi Sproutarian Man, do you sprout your chia in trays of soil? Do you ever grow it outside? Would it be good like that do you think? I remember hearing Susun Weed say that it's best to grow food in the ground so it connects with the Earth, that really struck me.. I like to grow as much as I can outside in the garden now.
