Thanks for the info Yep I do love sprouts! I find eating fenugreek sprouts makes me smell really strongly of curry though, so I take them with a bit of moderation, lol.

Hi guys, I'm looking for a good website that describes the nutritional benefits of fenugreek sprouts, does anyone have any good links? Thanks all xx

I love my earthing sheet, sleep on it every nite, as I know I don't get outside on the ground enough, especially in winter. Thanks for this thread, it inspired me to buy a pair of earthing flip flops

I make regular cooked teas then ferment them with kombucha. That way I end up with a 'living' food; full of probiotics (and delicious!) even though the original ingredients have been cooked.

I often use bicarb of soda mixed in water (1 - 2 tspns in a bottle, rub into scalp well), then a mix of green tea with some kombucha for the final rinse (the slightly acid pH is good for the hair apparently). I'll try the clay though sounds gooood Do you ever leave it on for a while like a conditioning treatment? It seems similar to using henna..

Thanks SueZ. Yeah they look pretty cute, like a bunch of muffins gone wrong lol. I'm not sure if mine are good quality or not, they are pretty bright coloured...Next time I'll look for the Silpats.

I have some silicone 'baking' mats and they're pretty handy for using to sprout seeds on, but I'm wondering if they are ok in terms of any toxins leaching out..?

Hey Sproutarian Man, May I ask if you have any experience of growing sprouts biodynamically? (I started a thread, but thought I'd ask here too in case you hadn't seen it)

I have been following (vaguely!) biodynamic concepts for the past couple of years with my gardening, but for some reason I never thought of it when soaking and sprouting seeds for microgreens etc. The thing is, I'm not sure what 'category' some seeds are in (ie, of the four: leaf/water; fruit/fire; root/earth; flower/air). I originally presumed wheatgrass would be classed as leaf, but then

Powerlifter, yes I've read that kombucha decreases the caffeine content a bit. I'm similarly sensitive to chocolate and tea etc, but kombucha isn't so bad for me at all. I still have to watch it though Plus I prefer the taste of my herbal blends. I've got nettle on the go at the moment, it's lovely.

fresherthanlife, what I don't get is all other seeds are soaked in water, then the water (and antinutrients I presume) are drained out. But with seeds like chia and flax it's really difficult to drain the water out afterwards (unless maybe if you used tons of water then squeezed it out through a nut milk bag) - so I'm assuming all those phytates etc are still present in the pudding?

Prana, kombucha can be made with different kinds of teas that don't contain caffeine. That's what I usually do as I'm sensitive to caffeine (It's still a bit addictive though, cos it tastes so good, lol).

Puzzled - can somebody please explain this sentence from the article for me: "The person’s sodium/potassium ratio starts to decline and one’s vitality diminishes". I don't really get this - how can a ratio decline? Is it the sodium or potassium declining? Or both? *confused

Oh Prana, thank you so much for those links. I've been listening to the 30 minute loop, it's smashing my heart open, I have to keep stopping what I'm doing to cry! Can't wait to listen to it in a meditative state <3 And thanks La Veronique for starting this beautiful thread! <3

Cheers Powerlifter, yeah my kitchen is like a crazy laboratory My fave lately is using a coffee substitute (I use 'nocaf') instead of tea. That's how I got the coca cola flavour one. yep, I get quite a buzz sometimes, especially if I've left them to ferment for a few days, and especially if I've added MSM in! Could be the tryptophan as well mind you, it doesn't feel like that 'alcohol' fee

Raw Practicalist, I've seen studies on veg juice that actually improved (more iron etc) after fermentation. Not sure how long they fermented it for though. I'll be away for Christmas so I'm just doing the best I can, I know it won't be ideal to freeze etc, but it'll still be better than anything that'll be available to me while I'm away yeah Powerlifter that's my strategy too lol, I'm takin

Yes Powerlifter, it's pretty impossible to soak then drain them (hence soaking then sprouting is a good alternative). Do you think their hydrophilic nature would affect the antinutrient factor?

RawPracticalist I have recently got a vitamix (yay! lol) and the good thing about it is a smoothie literally takes a few seconds to blend. Certainly less than 30. I do love my juicer too. Can I ask how you ferment your juice, and for how long? I generally add about a cup of kefir or kombucha and leave them in a dark place (room temp) for a few hours, or overnight. I'm going to be away for

The internet seems to be full of 'raw gurus' lately, a lot of whom have only been raw for a really short time. Their knowledge comes from other folk on the internet (the blind leading the blind) and/or 'Raw Coach' courses that are sold for thousands of dollars, that teach people to be good at business, but don't seem to have much in the way of in-depth nutritional information. So simple knowled

I've heard of people adding them to smoothies, and dehydrating them (marinating first in a sweetener, to make a kind of candy). Apparently dogs like them And they are good on your compost. I would imagine they would freeze no problem - might lose some nutrients though.

I hear some people talk about the problem of oxidation when making smoothies. Not that I'm entirely convinced that this IS such a big problem - however I often ferment my smoothies for a short time with kombucha or kefir (especially if I'm not going to be able to eat them straightaway). Apart from the extra value of the probiotics in my smoothies, it's my guess that this addition would guar

yay good for you JGunn It actually annoys me when I see all these recipes floating around the internet that say to just add all those chia seeds straight into a smoothie - especially when they're by 'raw guru's' who should know better!

I've been recently adding MSM to my water kefir. It makes for a cool drink cos when I ferment it for a few days then add it to orange juice it tastes like a cocktail, lol. I'd love to know what affect the fermentation has on the MSM - ie does it make it more easily assimilable etc. My googling turns up stuff on MSM speeding up the fermentation process (which probably explains the cocktail tast

I recently got my D levels tested and was a bit low (Dr said everyone in Scotland in the winter is though!). I've been using the Vitashine one (made from sun-exposed mushrooms), so I'll report back in 6 months when I get my next test By then it will be summer though and I'll have been on holiday, so it might go up anyway Plus I try not to shower too much (I'd like to point out though in resp
