Hi La V, Sugar is used in the 1st ferment, then during the 2nd ferment (optional) you can sweeten/flavour it with whatever you want. So you can add fruit & spices instead of refined sugar. So the kombucha should use up the regular sugar during the 1st ferment leaving only the sweetness from the fruit. Of course it's not an exact science (or is it? I'd love to see studies done). How

I just came across some interesting information that fenugreek sprouts stimulate breast growth! Now, that's all very well for me, lol, but I immediately wondered whether it's the same for men? Should I avoid giving them to my boyfriend? Hoping The Sproutarian Man will chime in with his experiences as I know he eats tons of them - if anyone will know the answer he will!

Thanks TSM, you're a real inspiration when it comes to sprouts! Interesting ideas Panchito (maybe you should write that book!) Reminds me of the work of Tony Wright, have you heard of him?

Hi Numenor, good question. I personally LOVE kombucha. I love the whole process of making it, waiting patiently for it to ferment, and then of course drinking it A lot of people advise against it though, on account of the ingredients used to make it (sugar and tea). I don't do well on regular tea because of the caffeine, so I make my own alternative - I blogged the receipe here (plus an a

Ah, thanks for the reminder about the dreaded slugs Brome! Come to think of it, they were very fond of my wheatgrass when I used to grow it in the greenhouse! I might keep it indoors for now, it's pretty cool all year round here anyway as I'm in Scotland. Plus I do like having the wheatgrass around the house, I've heard it's an excellent air purifier.

Just came across this article about wheatgrass 'myths'. I guess it's a little biased as the company sells wheatgrass powder, but it's interesting info nonetheless. I always wondered whether it was ok to eat wheatgrass whole - now after reading this I think I'll start adding it to smoothies. I might start growing my wheatgrass outside too.

Careful where you get your nuts guys "most of the almonds sold in the U.S. have been fumigated with propylene oxide, a chemical that even the CDC has admitted causes cancer" Why can't they just leave our food alone?

Here is an interesting development! Apparently somebody who had a faecal implant from an obese donor also became obese soon after.. could it be the microorganisms causing their new host to start to crave junk foods..

Fascinating reading all of the comments, thanks Anon 102, I wasn't saying that I necessarily believe the Bible is true, in fact in the original post I said: "Of course, this all depends on whether or not you believe the accounts of The Bible" Maybe I should have made this clearer. I'm just putting a theory out there, ya know, pondering

Hi John, great points, thanks. yes, I've heard that argument about cooked food being the original sin, guess I was just extrapolating a little further Juicing is certainly more do-able, and a lot closer to where I am myself. I have found over the years I am needing to eat a lot less than I used to, especially after undergoing the sungazing process. I still love my juices though. And it real

I just wrote this, I'm thinking about publishing it on my blog, but I'm wondering whether it's too 'out there'. What do you guys think? I have been fascinated for many years by the connection with our gut bacteria to our health, and have noticed more and more information appearing that connect physical, mental, and emotional health with the state of our digestive system, and the micro-organism

Hi rasIndi, sorry to hear of your issues. I can only speak from my own experience: while I have never suffered from psychosis, I can definitely say that raw foods have helped my mental/emotional health enormously. The difference in how I feel on raw foods is astounding compared to how I used to feel on a 'standard' diet. I think it has a lot to do with the elimination of processed foods from

I also have posted here since 2003 This forum has always been here while other forums came and went. I often come across my own old posts while searching for something too, it's a funny blast from a past me! I think I'm a bit older and wiser now, calmer and more balanced than I used to be. I often wish that I knew then what I know now... but what would be the fun in that?
